REMASTERED IN HD! Music video by Robert Palmer performing Addicted To Love. (C) 1985 The Island Def Jam Music Group #RobertPalmer #AddictedToLove #Remastered
I literally bumped into Robert Palmer on a street in Adelaide Australia on a drunken Saturday night in the 80s as he was walking out of about the only late night club we had there then. I was very young and pretty drunk, he was dressed immaculately in a suit and tie and could have been upset and angry with me but was wonderfully polite and friendly. Has always stayed with me as my brush with fame to this day in my late 50s. RIP Mr Palmer and thanks for yet another great 80s memory 😊
He really had it going on !loved it ,still wanna get up and totally gym to simply irresistible baby ! and someday I wouldn't mind seeing if I'm gonna have to face it
British Vogue Editor Liz Tilberis put him in that suit, and those dreamy models in long-sleeved high necked plain black dresses and sensible heels. At the time, if you worked in a bank, an office, or a department store and you were a woman you wore a dress, your legs covered, dress shoes (read high heels), big curly hair, and this gorgeous make-up, but it gets tiresome.
Let's meet the girls as they are in the video, from ..Julie Pankhurst-keyboards, Patty Kelly-guitar, Mak Gilchrist-bass, Julia Bolino-guitar and Kathy Davies-drum/partially hidden in the back. the girls as they are today, ..Julie-works in retail and is a mother, Patty-landscape designer with 2 children, Kathy-lives in Thailand where she does charity work, Mak-still models in England and Julia-hair and makeup artist.

Nobody makes music like this anymore. Nothing beats the 80s. Robert Palmer, Starship, Wham!, Huey Lewis and the news, Bon Jovi. It was great. Too bad we can't go back.❤😢
Robert Palmer, now THAT was a musician who knew how to entertain... I'd be honored if some retro music fans would check out my acoustic piano & vocal covers of 80s/90s classic songs on my channel. Covers include Sting, Prince, George Michael, Elton John, Phil Collins, the GooGoo Dolls, Sarah McClachlan, Billy Joel, Earth Wind & Fire, plus a couple of '010s classics from Bruno Mars and Coldplay. Live acoustic with no autotune. Thanks and peace.
I don't think people realize today how visually groundbreaking this video was. It set off the whole fashion/front light/flash like aesthetic in videos that dominated for 40 years and counter-influenced back to fashion etc.
saw robert palmer live in new york perform this, probably the most mesmerizing show i've ever seen and this song was off the charts in intensity, just brilliant. the dancing might be better in "simply irresistible" but this song rocks. his passing is a great loss to music, RIP robert.

I met Robert very early in his career. I was working at a radio station and he was an artist coming from England. I chatted with him on the air and I was amazed at how much he knew about American rock and roll music. I was delighted to see him become famous and successful a few years later.
I JUST tapped on this.. Not surprised thati had left a comment.. FIVE YEARS.. ago! No follow-up responses so I'm reaching out to YOU. Amazing that your interested in 1985..🤙
Robert's father was Royal Navy and Robert listened to American rock on the Voice of America and Radio Free Europe broadcasts when the family was living in Malta. His father bought Robert a tape recorder as a birthday present and Robert sang into it--and was not displeased with what came out of it when he played it back. The rest is history.
@@Falconlibrary Daniel, Mr. Palmer was a delightful gentleman to visit with. I remember discussing his current musical influences at the time with him. On that occasion in 1975-1976, he had come to America to work with a regional US East Coast rock band known as a Little Feat, a band which featured guitarist and vocalist Lowell George. He also was on a promotional tour for his album, "Sneakin Sally Through the Alley". I told him how much I loved his album and I think he was pleased to hear it. Cheers!
I remember one day the radio played 3 or 4 of his songs back to back and the DJ came on and said if you just joined us Robert died a few hours ago. I was driving a big rig and I had to get off the road for a bit😪. RIP RP🙏🕊
Every time since the morning of 12/9/80 that a DJ has done this while I’m driving - they really ought to ban those damned “Two-fer Tuesdays” - my heart speeds up & I brace myself for an Announcement. While swerving across traffic & onto a side street That Morning after That Night, I was lucky not only to survive, but to avoid causing a major pileup.

No backup singers in history have ever made blank expressionism look so freaking HOT as this girls!
Jetset906 coolest thing ever
u really want to call them back up singers? i1ll call them the eye candy of the video
Jetset906 ,
They're not back up singers, these were hired models for this video.
They're awesome, Robert was great, RIP
This deserves at least 1 billion more views.
Only, ONLY Robert Palmer could make this Legendary. R.I.P.
Nobody makes music like this anymore. Nothing beats the 80s. Robert Palmer, Starship, Wham!, Huey Lewis and the news, Bon Jovi. It was great. Too bad we can't go back.❤😢
Robert Palmer was and remains forever as the James Bond of Rock & Roll. Rest in Peace Robert you'll be well remembered.
Yes, he was sexy, savory, classy. The absolute 007 of rock n roll.
uh, no no, the 007 of Rock n' Roll is Bryan Ferry
That's a great description!
I like the way you put that!
Robert Palmer is the James Bond of rock multiplied by the number of backup girls.
Yes something tells me he multiplied with all of them. Probably several times.
Rest In Heaven Sir Robert Palmer. Thank you for the fabulous phenomenal great music.. It was/is addictive
Tanja Petties Very true!
His song & this tune is still a hit to this day of 2018. It's important to pass on this type of music into & sharing with in the future.
you mean his great music was...simply irresistible?
didn't know he died so long ago, Im shocked
Robert Palmer, now THAT was a musician who knew how to entertain... I'd be honored if some retro music fans would check out my acoustic piano & vocal covers of 80s/90s classic songs on my channel. Covers include Sting, Prince, George Michael, Elton John, Phil Collins, the GooGoo Dolls, Sarah McClachlan, Billy Joel, Earth Wind & Fire, plus a couple of '010s classics from Bruno Mars and Coldplay. Live acoustic with no autotune. Thanks and peace.
Th creator of this video is and will always be a genius! Simple perfection!
when you watch this 35 years later and realize it's the only dance step you ever learned!
is there any other.......lol
😂😂😂 True, here, too!
😂😂😂😂😂 too funny!! 😂😂😂😂😂
Never fails! It’s mygo to dance move every time
.. And, I still haven't learned it..
I don't think people realize today how visually groundbreaking this video was. It set off the whole fashion/front light/flash like aesthetic in videos that dominated for 40 years and counter-influenced back to fashion etc.
A living Pat Nagel painting, as if orchestrated by Michael Mann
@@Lavaman3682Yes! Nagel fan here....
saw robert palmer live in new york perform this, probably the most mesmerizing show i've ever seen and this song was off the charts in intensity, just brilliant. the dancing might be better in "simply irresistible" but this song rocks. his passing is a great loss to music, RIP robert.
Jesus is coming soon to RAPTURE His Believers.
Don't be left behind! The unbelievers will be left behind to endure the antichrist, Man killing demons, and a plethora of ungodly , unimaginable disasters and horrors.
To avoid that horrible 7 years known as The Great Tribulation according to scriptures;
⁹If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)
All these volcanoes and earthquakes are signs in the Bible that Jesus spoke of before his second coming. The King is coming soon! 🙌🏻

What a legend was Robert Palmer was.sadly missed
If only TV’s in the 80’s had the same quality that they do now…this would’ve easily been the most requested video of all time. Props, Mr. Palmer.
Cheers!
Simply GREAT MUSIC!!!!!
Whats amazing is that you met anyone who became famous! I've lived in LA, San Fran, Nashville never met anyone who tried to become a star and made it.
Robert Palmer is a guy who’s music is timeless
the girl pretending to play the organ is SMOKING HOT
Ya think…
So is girl next to her playing the guitar 🎸 with the white guitar strap.
Those legs...

Robert Palmer without a doubt one of the greatest of all time. A legend. Incomparable! The guy was a walking and singing flawless gem!
Greatest and way under rated tree lyrics were perfect for that time love them remind of alot of issues in the , 80s
I remember one day the radio played 3 or 4 of his songs back to back and the DJ came on and said if you just joined us Robert died a few hours ago. I was driving a big rig and I had to get off the road for a bit😪. RIP RP🙏🕊
I'm a child of the 70s-80s. The legends are slowly disappearing. RIP Mr. Palmer. Drive safely, Mr. Graham.
Darrin Graham it hit me like a ton of bricks to at the time 😥
😢
Robert was one of the smoothest singers ever.
Still rocking to this song in 2024. I am 65 years old. Robert palmer is great.

I'm 52 and still living in the 80's because of songs like these 😉

I love this story!
♥️🥰♥️♥️💜💜💜
And you’re still married today ?
Could've been worse, like "You Give Love A Bad Name."
[Verse 1]
The lights are on, but you're not home
Your mind is not your own
Your heart sweats, your body shakes
Another kiss is what it takes
You can't sleep, you can't eat
There's no doubt, you're in deep
Your throat is tight, you can't breathe
Another kiss is all you need
[Chorus]
Whoa, you like to think that you're immune to the stuff, oh yeah
It's closer to the truth to say you can't get enough
You know you're going to have to face it, you're addicted to love
[Verse 2]
You see the signs, but you can't read
You're running at a different speed
Your heart beats in double time
Another kiss and you'll be mine
A one-track mind, you can't be saved
Oblivion is all you crave
If there's some left for you
You don't mind if you do
[Chorus]
Whoa, you like to think that you're immune to the stuff, oh yeah
It's closer to the truth to say you can't get enough
You know you're going to have to face it, you're addicted to love
[Post-Chorus]
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love
[Verse 3]
Your lights are on, but you're not home
Your will is not your own
Your heart sweats your teeth grind
Another kiss and you'll be mine
[Chorus]
Whoa, you like to think that you're immune to the stuff, oh yeah
It's closer to the truth to say you can't get enough
You know you're going to have to face it, you're addicted to love
[Outro]
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love

One of my favorites! This song instantly reminds me of good times in the 80's. So very fun to sing in Karaoke bars. The Weird Al version is incredibly funny and so well written to fit the tune.

The best 'rockband' ever. Who older this guys get the better they music. I think they still on stage at 90 of age. I really hope so,because... what should the world be without the Rolling Stones!!!!..???
A solid gold classic. We lost him too soon. R I P Robert, keep on giving them a good time up there in heaven. Such a suave gent, always surrounded by beautiful women!
I love this song so much used to play this in the car, my son loved it ,sadly we lost Robert Palmer in 2003
+Doug J We lost him to a heart attack I believe . . . high blood pressure - the "Silent Killer".
+Jay.C.Fotografie Unfortunately, people in the Commonwealth either drop dead around 50 or live to be 90. Some folks can handle the drinking, some can't. I have to admit, English beer IS good....
+Doug J What? he's "gone with the wind"?
+Bao Tony He passed on yes . RIP Robert Palmer

It wasn't drinking that killed him.
It was smoking three packs a day.

So many singers and musicians from the 1980s that passed away.
