"Even the best plans never survive first contact" Its better to be flexible with a goal than to rigidly stick to a plan. Also the scenarios help to "plan" ahead.
There's an expression I read somewhere... have a rigid goal with a flexible plan. Something like that. Basically know exactly what you want and don't waver, and have a vision for the end point, but have flexibility on the path you take to get there and don't be afraid to pivot and adapt as you go along the path.
Actually for my case, I always have few sets of plan whenever things happen.. I usually sit and wait for the next trigger to happen... And I would take charge when the time is right for the best result.. It's like plan a, b, c or d and when A triggered, it's a1, a2, a3 and a4.. Then when the next event triggered, another set of plan... And so on...
Totally agree. I've heard that INTJs plan everything and have contingency plans for everything, and I've never related to that. I envision things and intuitively know what leads me there and what not. That doesn't mean I can't plan well, of course, but static plans never appealed to me for one simple reason: things never roll out as you plan them (and you may miss out on incredible opportunities when you strictly follow a plan), and there's a reason for that as well, and I'll use your hobby to explain: in most cases, you can't know you want to climb to mountain B before you're on top of mountain A, because you can't see it (not even us INTJs). So I go for visions/goals, not for plans, and I too believe we INTJs are like that.
Idk, I usually have few sets of plans ready and another sets of plans ready whenever the trigger is set, and another set would be ready until it is narrowed down to the best result I could obtain. Idk, I usually have a hard time making the first push and then everything just flowing through afterwards... And whatever the consequences are, I could expect and work with that momentum.. That's my things are... And that's why I am known as planner
I read a statistic that something like 65% of INTJs are Enneagram 5s, and the majority have a 6 wing. The “planning for every contingency” stereotype sounds like a classic Enneagram 6 hallmark. I wonder if that’s where the stereotype comes from. For me, as an INTJ and a 5 with a 4 wing, the obsessive planning stereotype has never fit.
Most mornings I lay in bed for a moment pondering and listing my tasks for the day and their relative importance and such, but I rarely have a precise plan
The way an intuitive plans is a lot looser than the way a sensate plans. It's more like a flexible schedule than a prescribed liturgy. We're intuitive!
I am an INFJ. Your line: ‘I had to learn how to be social, so that I could get some alone time’ rings loud and true. This is a strategy which I’ve learned to adopt in my life, and, yet, still struggle with. What I mean is: I know I have to socialise to get people off my back, and yet, I still find it hard to muster up the energy to do it. It’s hard for others to comprehend just how much we, as Ni doms, enjoy being by ourselves. ‘Alone’ for us, really doesn’t have negative connotations attached to it. Enjoying alone time is different to us ‘experiencing loneliness’. Also, I can be fairly certain that you have received the text message: ‘Are you still alive?’ multiple times in your life because you have, seemingly, to others, fallen off the face of the earth. Even though this hibernating and re-emerging pattern is one you’ve exhibited consistently throughout your life. Speaking absolutely from experience 😂 Anyways, keep up the excellent content, man! Found your channel recently, and have found your videos insightful, honest, interesting - and very relatable ✨
My sibling told me that my ESFJ mother was concerned about me when I told her I had spent my birthday alone. She couldn't fathom the thought of a person enjoying time alone. I received the "Are you still alive?" message yesterday so I know you know what you're talking about fellow Ni sister 😂
Been wondering if I was really an intj for awhile. This video confirmed what I had been thinking for awhile about the stereotypes assigned to the intj and was exactly what I needed to hear. Especially from an intj.
While it's a fun stereotype to play around with, especially when people are less knowledgeable about MBTI and INTJs, I feel like it'd be more accurate to say INTJs PREFER to have a plan for as many situations as possible. But there have been plenty of times where something just happened out of the blue that I wouldn't have had any knowledge or forethought to plan for and just had to deal with the situation at hand. As you stated in the vid, we ABSOLUTELY plan the hell out of things we care about to the point where we have contingencies for contingencies because if it's important to us, delays may occur but failure is not an option. However in the case of just random happenings, trying to plan for everything would be so energy/time inefficient we couldn't really justify doing so. I think others also mistake our abilities to quickly discern predictable outcomes based on pattern recognition and utilize past data/experience to predict behavioral responses from others, and when they see us make what appear to be effortless adjustments to be in the right place, assume that we planned things out several steps in advance. While I would LOVE for this to always be the case, cause few things boost that dopamine hit like being right in a given scenario, a lot of times it's just recognizing a pattern and optimizing my response to expend as little energy as possible especially when the task/situation/issue is one I'm not really invested in to begin with. Also shout out to having to justify feeding yourself sometimes. I can't count the number of times I've been so wrapped up in something else I was doing, looked at the clock and thought to myself, "Hmm... making something to eat would be too inconvenient and it's too late to order food... guess I'll worry about it tomorrow when I really get hungry."
“Time is very important” “Not doing anything is also important”. I know exactly how you feel about the embarrassment, especially in the work environment. “What did you do this weekend” gets kinda awkward when you do “nothing” more than everyone else lol
As a 30+ year old INTJ. Doing nothing is sometimes great to reduce the stress of everything life. I sometimes go to the bar and sit where no one can see me and think in a new environment.
12:29 #intjtruthbomb - - As an INTJ (professionally typed 3x for corporate leadership positions), I enjoy frequently scheduled intervals of fun, but also 'wing it' often in my career (still achieved 25+ years of senior leadership positions with several top-tier corporations in my industry). If I forget to eat for a few meals and realize it, I just tell myself that it is a fast and then schedule time in my Outlook calendar to eat lunch the next day. 10:10-10:35 ... yep (#lollygagging ... may be my favorite or at least, the most consistent life long past-time).
For me, it's more a matter of "rerouting" when it comes to everyday life. My mind is constantly thinking about what I have to do with my time slots, but it's more like a huge mental to-do list that's checked over and over again during the day, so it can be continuously optimized. Priorities are constantly changed, activities are postponed or brought forward, all depending on a bunch of different factors, like my mood, my mental/physical energy level, unexpected events, people interrupting all the time, etc. So yeah, it's planning, but very subjectively. I give myself a direction, i.e. what I need to do in order to achieve my goals in life, but then I rearrange things all the time when necessary. Life and other people's actions are too unpredictable to make firm, unchangeable schedules. It would be crazy and impossible to do otherwise.
Being flexible is key! Ni knows that we can't predict everything so it makes sense that we'll probably have to rearrange things. Definitely understand your approach ✊
Thank you for this!! I'm an INTJ and the stereotypes thrown at me are not good. "You've got everything planned out" is one, but then there are those who feel any INTJ is planning everything out for everyone! I've heard "You just stay away from master-planning MY life" a lot. Ok, in my 20's, I did chart my use of household consumables so that I could predict when I would need to buy what, but that didn't last long, and had nothing to do with other people. Another thing I hear is, "You're so NEGATIVE" from people who can't get their mind around how fast I shift into action planning mode, and am simply listing up the steps along the way, not giving reasons to avoid what's being proposed. As you said, responding to contingencies and including alternate paths to the goal is just part of the process, and if you ask me, I can give you reasons and research for it all, even if details are still nebulous.
As an intj, i don't socialize enough to know that planning is our thing, but apparently, I do plan a lot, like my what i do in an hourly basis and i can plan for a whole 2 weeks in that basis, but i only do that when i have a goal like a finals coming up or what, but when nothing much is going to happen in my life for the next days, i can go planless and be as lazy asf lol
01:08 "what is an INTJ supposed to sound like" usually INTJ dont sound/talk as much as you do. You sometimes talk as an ENFP however i think (after seeing allot of your vids) that you are just a very passionate INTJ in the topics that you are talking about. Thanks i like your vids/messages (im a INTJ)
Yes, assuming age from appearance he is most likely exercising Fi & Se which is commendable before midlife. Side note, black everywhere and the Batman in the background? Archetypes do exist.😁
I assure you, there are INTJs out there who are very animated and may sound like an ESFP, or have honed Fe well and may appear to look like the Superego ISFJ.
This resonates strongly with me. I'd say that there is a premeditation in most aspects and things I do, as a kind of intended purpose to accomplish something, otherwise I wouldn't stand up and I would do nothing. I think the "doing nothing time" is an idleness state when there is not a clear meditation or intention at hand, thus we simply use it to recharge energies until something catches our interest and then a process of meditation, consideration, gathering information and pondering, even obsessively, comes up naturally (and I enjoy the process). Once it is well established and a decision is taken, there is a valid and solid reason to move from the chair and going outside or doing something if finally it is worth. Nothing to me comes as spontaneous or whimsical or as the spur of the moment, but rather I would wait for some days to gauge and finally do it or reject it, and yes, contingencies just in case. I act according to a self-agreement. I may seem indecisive but rather is a matter of time necessary to act with all considered beforehand, so a firm decision is done eventually. The attention is mostly put on the objective than how to exactly proceed (aka "the plan") There may be a single or a second or third intention, never simply because of the fun or the need of it.The drawback is that anything unexpected puts me very off guard and I need to retreat to recalculate to assess the true situation, sometimes into my shell
It's fun sometimes when things go unexpected. Aside from the fact that you collect more data to better improve your future plans, you also get to flex your adaptability muscle 💪
Agree with you fully. I think it is best explained that INTJs are like the captain on a large boat....we don't have all the details planned out to but we know where we are headed and we adjust accordingly. We have overarching goals and plans. We don't plan minute by minute
Like you said. We plan without involving the external world. It's really true. But then the external world or the people around me like my family. Interrupts my plans. So I'm always open in my "plans" so that that might not affect long term plans.
Most of the time I do a simple day-to-day chore list of what has to be done. If something changes because of external variables then that's ok, I can live with that. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to adapt. What I don't like is wasting time so when I get a feeling that someone or something is wasting my time, that's a complete annoyance and no-go for me. One funny thing is that due to lack of time I sometimes experience when friends want to meet up with me I have to know that in advance. Then I tend to say that I can be spontaneous, I just have to plan for it.
I've been watching your videos non-stop since yesterday and I feel so understood.. its amazing! Keep it up with the good content, cannot wait for your channel to grow bigger 🙌
One intj to another you cannot see potential danger to your future plans due to not timing your meal and not adiquately taking nutrition then you will be the one in the hinderence in your plans in 3:38 min
ENFP stereotype - we are SO spontaneous that we never plan a thing. There is some truth to that. If you ask me about my career, I have absolutely no plan. I have worked for the same company for 20+ years. Have I been doing the same job for that long? Nope, I have worked in very different areas wherever my boss asked me to go in and 'solve the problem' or make new procedures. I didn't plan for that. It sort of just happened. But look at my vacations on the other hand. The whole itinerary is built up around when the cherry trees blossom on this mountain (based on previous years and the height above sea level), the opening hours and weekly closing day of the museums, dates for festivals and religious holidays when stores are closed. So am I not spontaneous, then? Oh yes. I might have planned my holiday in minute detail but there is always room for spontaneity if the weather changes, I hear about new interesting places, meet new people I want to spend time with or if I simply need some time to relax. I will simply change the plan to my needs taking into account my priority of places to see combined with opening hours and other practicalities. I have read comments from a lot of other ENFPs who are exactly the same when it comes to planning or lack thereof.
I just found your channel. Love what you're doing. I took the mbti test again and took out all the biases that were created from expectations of myself and consistently got INTJ. I like your vids on breaking stereotypes because I didn't realize the vast fetishization of the INTJ to be this uber mastermind/planner. Don't get me wrong, I've planned up to a decade of my life but...am wise enough to know that not everything goes according to plan.
I'm confused between Intp and Intj ? I'm cautious in nature and tend to worry a lot (anxiety) workaholic...but on the same time i don't follow schedule and less tidy.. I'm not sure whether I'm Intp or Intj ?
Read about cognitive functions and it should be more clear. INTJs and INTPs approach life completely differently so it should be clear once you learn about the functions ✊
Being an INTJ mentor that poured heart and soul for my mentee… only to discover they chose not the grand plan I laid down for them… and throw everything away.. used to be agonising.. It took me years to accept that it is their life. Not mine. Thinking and pissed about their stupidity is such a waste of energy. Not everyone will see and appreciate all the thoughts and effort we gave them. No need to give the pearls to the swine.
Trust me when I say I understand. That's why I stopped putting myself in any mentorship position. The person will come to me if they really want my advice and will implement it. If they don't implement it, then you're just a therapist 🙃
This along with the reply speaks to my soul. 😅 I now understand why I felt irritable. People want to complain which is fair, but they will just focus on complaining and continuing with what they are doing.
Another great video ! We had to learn to socialize... so true, and It was uncomfortable, and it’s still uncomfortable with certain types for me. I plan more for the things which are news. Plans are flexible, can be update, and often with backup plans in case the first plan fail, because we can’t control everything and people. The stereotypes are more a perfect representation/idea of a type, a theory, but seems an unhealthy version. I like them, because they are fun, help and guide us. In reality we are all on the spectrum of our type.
Planning...yes, but that can be strategically routed only to a point, where if completely projected, gets more vague the farther out the projection is hypothesized. Other outer influences & events harden the actual trajectory, sometimes in rather bizzare ways, so flexibly & ingenuity are packed for easy access. Thinking on your feet becomes invaluable, with knowledge + experience sharpening the accuracy along the route...🖤
A bit of a wall of text, but worth the read: INTJs are actually perceivers, not judgers (Ni is perception), so judger stereotypes may not fit so cleanly. Plans tend to be more abstract/general and are the result of exploring possibilities, associations, conceptualizations as well as practical implications (possible that Te has a part in this, being used on internal information) of them via the imagination and may or may not be acted on. Specifics come later. You get an idea of the flow of and an understanding of the system (of causal relations) and act in a way that is synchronous with that system and the desired outcome. Intj will forsee specific (as well as more general) problems and use creative ability to produce solutions/contingency plans, but the INTJ is still focused on the bigger picture, resulting in higher adaptability than if we focused on details primarily (plans are more fluid). We may still want a solid understanding of the events/process we are engaging in and whats coming down the line, but see and approach that differently than one may expect. Just my 2 cents as an INTJ.
For MBTI, INTJ are Judgers (what the 4th character stands for). It is derived by looking at the first two functions in the cognitive stack and determining whether the judging or perceiving function is extroverted. So INTJ are judgers because of Te. Agree with everything else in your message.
@@frypan969 I think you missed the point in the form that I was making it. Of course INTJs are judgers based on the lettering because the lettering is based in what you extrovert, however that different from BEING something unless your only criteria is the MBTIs subjective framework for labeling types.
@@frypan969 Point being INTJs are labelled judgers not based on what they are, but based on what they extrovert. So what you're saying really isn't a contradiction except in the wording, which throws people off, which is why I said what I said.
@@damienward2899 I understand your point, however disagree. Is there a reason you do not want to be associated as an MBTI Judger? Or are you worried about being perceived as a Judger? To have an effective conversation there is a requirement to ensure context and different definitions are understood. All too often misunderstandings happen because people assume others understand context, definitions and acronyms. Shared definitions are actually pretty important for coherent conversation. Your perspective that INTJ's should be perceivers is counter to MBTI structure at the base level. 'Understanding Yourself and Others: An Introduction to Personality Type Code' by Linda V Berens and Dario Nardi goes through how MBTI was developed and the different dichotomies and function mapping. That said, there is room for a nuanced conversation about how the judger definition might not cleanly fit INTJ. For reference, Jung did not define Judger and Perciever; it was added for MBTI. For MBTI, Judger relates to a person who prefers order and routine. Perceiver prefers flexibility and spontaneity. As an INTJ do you prefer flexibility and spontaneity over order and routine? Personally I want enough order to optimize future events and systems and adapt as required in the present moment. While INTJ benefit from experiences they generally need to be pushed into new experiences unless it is an area of interest or has direct relevance to their personal goals. INTJ's are not scared of change as long as it is part of 'their plans' and can rapidly adapt to new situations even if it is not part of 'their plan'. I would argue J / P is the least relevant dichotomy within MBTI. There are better ways to determine P / J through understanding the cognitive function stack. However, J / P dichotomy was added to make it more accessible to the general public. More broadly,, outside MBTI definitions, I would say INTJs are judgmental while being open to new information; especially in their interactions with others. This is based on how other people perceive INTJ's discussing topics where the INTJ has knowledge or interest. Side note 16personalities website IS NOT MBTI and the way it splits P and J in particular is problematic. It uses a Big 5 test. PersonalityHacker.com has the best free MBTI personality test based on Jungian functions. Lastly MBTI is a starting point for further personal development it is not a holistic model which will ever completely describe an individual, because once developed the individual experience is a set of n = 1.
INTJ here. I am an old man. Example: Job interview I got asked the question that interviews like to ask. “Where do you see yourself in 5 years”? So I laid out the my roadmap for the next 5 years. My plan included my personal goals as well as my perceived goals for the company. After I finished I asked if he had any questions. He said no and the interview was over in 5 minutes. I did not get the job. 2 years later I saw online that the company was in the final phase of implementing one of my plans. Go figure…
Sounds like you avoided a red flag. If they are willing to do that to a stranger, imagine what they would've done if you were an employee and told them more of your idea 👊
I see "Inner City" lyrics - I press like (totally unplanned) ❤ I plan a lot, but not everything. When going out or meet someone, I might already think about, which situations and discussions might appear, and then "plan" in my head, what I'll do in such and such situation. But only roughly, and at times, the happening / situation will be completely different and I react spontanously. Also I have many backup-plans for my goals - So when SHTF or problems occour, I'm prepared for it, as I already thought through every possible scenario I could immagine 🎉
Idk about other INTJ's but my life feels known in advanced (more like 'somehow') and yet a complete cluster-f of random experiences. I'll have a eerie sense of "knowing" the trajectory of an event or thing/person's "path," but get super surprised by the most basic of things happening/ existing. Of course I plan plenty, but the idea that I purposely fail all the damn time just hurts lmao 🤣 I'm over here having (as far as I will be concerned) a high percentage rating of accurately predicting the future/things, but being a massive failure in plenty instances of my life. Damn- sob story and a half. Great video, I agree with your content so far 🙂😊 That part about us making plans based on other people is so true. I personally always wish I could just ignore that and do what I want 😏
Thanks for mentioning Myer Briggs Discord servers. Never thought such niche groups could've existed. Got a plan to seek out some servers as a step in a few of my future plans. Great video brother
@@justcallmejon22 I'm new to a managerial role. It's helped me a lot with discernment, all credit to God for how it happened though. I'm already starting the year strong further acquiring knowledge of my strengths, weaknesses and of my turbulent architect tendencies. Discord itself is no strange place to me, just an untapped resource yet ;)
cant wait to watch this... i have a self id'd ISTP - who I think is an INTJ...VERY intj.... except the planning bit .. . maybe he's just too private to tell me his plans
ISTP and INTJs seems similar from the outside but we're completely different internally. Whatever that person is, I hope you all the information that you need.
I think that making detailed, step-by-step, physical LISTS is more of an Si thing. If you think about it, list-making can be thought of as a very concrete, non-abstract method of organizing the world. It doesn’t follow the Ni “gut impression” and “knowing” what needs to be done. Also, the dinner thing is spot ON. 😂 Nearly every day I sit and think “body, I just fed you eleven hours ago, why must you complain again?” Contrasted with my ISFJ friend for whom making food was extremely comforting and helped her relax. Nope!
Most so-called "INTJs" you see on the internet are probably just edgy XSTJs with an ego problem. I've had them reply to me giving me their "wisdom" on what to do with my life (which totally isn't insufferable or anything... -.-) and it's always shallow materialism that I don't care about. They go on about planning every minute detail of their lives and being total control freaks but never anything overarching, it's always menial or short-term stuff (reeks of Si) that I again don't care about.
I think there's place for detailed lists for INTJs - when it is aimed at relieving the anxiety of multiple Se actions that need to be performed to reach a specific outcome (e.g. part of a project). These lists will then be altered multiple times and end up a mess or get abandoned half way, but they can help cover some distance and minimize procrastination / daydreaming / never ending reshuflling things in your head.
For me, I prefer planning and applying structure, but I also know better than to go over each outcome. There are so many outcomes that could happen that planning for each one is a one-way ticket to insanity. Especially if others can interfere with the plan.
A disappointed INTJ would’ve on multiple occasions genuinely poured their hearts out, sharing their advices to others, only then to realize they didn’t listen to the advices. Ive learnt to distant myself away from them so, to sound bluntly, they don’t waste any more of my time. There is also of course a sense of sadness involved.
You are a fresh breeze on this topic and I so agree with your viewpoint! But... I'm coping badly when information is incomplete. When we're talking about MBTI types, then there is something very fishy. When we're looking at statistics and making the conclusion - we have 8 billion people in the world, right now. How many actually know who they are by this system, how many actually took the test or have an understanding or even awareness about it? We don't have enough information for the classification. I think MBTI, as it is now, is without real meaning and therefore pointless.
I'd say use MBTI and personality results to enhance your life however it may. I don't believe in astrology but I think it's entertaining when other people are. There's meaning if you put meaning to it, that's Aunti Fi giving you a nudge 🙃
Huh, I honestly didn't even know this was a stereotype, however, I just happen to plan my entire week in advance - i.e. I lay out all the tasks I need to complete on a daily basis (and yes, this includes every aspect of my life). I only started to do so when I was looking for tools to boost my productivity, and out of everything I implemented, planning out my days was easily the most effective strategy. I'm not entirely convinced that this means my days are boring per se, but they can certainly be perceived as predictable. Usually my plans are somewhat flexible and aren't always totally pre-determined - i.e. I can have "8:00 P.M. - Eat dinner and watch a movie" or "11:30 P.M. - Spend an hour reading" on my list - but that doesn't mean I know what my meal is going to consist of, what movie I'm going to watch, or what book I'm going to grab off the shelf. And yeah, I do include even "fun" or "relaxing" activities, so it doesn't mean I don't enjoy my life - in fact, it ensures that I get as much enjoyment as possible from various avenues. However, plans also need to be elastic as unexpended things are bound to come up In the end, it was a simple calculation for me - "Is this going to help me achieve my goal(s) more efficiently?" For me, the answer was a clear YES. You pointed out that at times you forget to shop, don't have anything to eat, and fall asleep hungry. That is unlikely to happen if you just had "Go shopping" on your To-Do List for Wednesday or whatever. But I 100% agree with you - every human is different and does things their own way - and that stereotypes are generally unhealthy. I think when it comes to INTJs, perhaps we are just more likely to seek out such tools? But of course, a strategy that works for me, may not work for you, and so on. Basically, are you getting more value out of NOT PLANNING? Or are you likely to gain an advantage by doing so? That's all it really comes down to - what you as an individual value more. Surely you can see why detailed planning would appeal to a personality type such as an INTJ?
Not planning has a lot of value and in particular, the opportunity to test all the abilities that you've learned so far. When put in a situation where you're not expecting to be tested and can accomplish it with flying colors is so rewarding. I'm not questioning whether you're an INTJ but your timeline sounds very Si heavy. Have you read about ISTJs? We're similar when looking externally but very different in our internal pursuit of life values.
@@justcallmejon22 Sure, I guess that's what you value most. My current priority in life is to be as productive as possible. In the future, however, I can see myself easing up on the detailed planning. What timeline are you referring to? I remember the first time I heard about MBTI - I was quite skeptical, but decided to entertain my friend and take the test. I didn't have any prior knowledge of the types - I just did answered the questions expecting to prove him wrong, but when I read the results - I was more than surprised. I was like "Wait, did someone spy on me to write this?" My entire life I thought I was "different" and the test showed me that there are actually other people out there like me. I've done the test several times since, over the years, getting the same result each time - with minor shifts in the spectrum. The test has helped me understand and accept myself, but I'm not too heavily invested in the culture, and honestly, couldn't tell you much about the remaining types - though I have read through each of their descriptions in the past. I'm not a member of the INTJ subreddit, I'm not in any MBTI Discord servers, I just happened to scroll past this video and thought I'd check it out. I just re-read the ISTJ profile and though I can certainly identify with the rational thinking and systematic approach to things, I cannot with any of the remaining traits or characteristics - and some even make me cringe! ("They are usually more enthusiastic about sharing factual information than exploring abstract concepts or unproven ideas"). In the end, I am who I am, a person unique to everyone else, just like everyone else - but out of all the tests and the profiles, the INTJ archetype is the only one that I've found that fits perfectly.
@@toonamiguy Most people do not fall into the extremes of the types. For instance, you could be 95% Introverted, 56% Intuitive, 76% Thinking, and 88% Judging. So while you test out as an INTJ, you would also have some strong Sensing tendencies as you tested near the middle of the range. It could also be that it's somewhat situational, that you are more sensing at work (as it benefits you for the type of work you do) but then more intuitive the rest of the time.
As an intj, I can still be a bit disorganized when I'm trying to figure things out, but when it's one of my main objectives, I do spend a lot of time planning. But it's not inflexible. Each "node" on the flowchart doesn't have certainty, they have probabilities. We want the truth so we can adjust when needed, when probabilities are changed. The problem is when one of the "nodes" you think are taken care of, really isn't. For me, I have to strip everything back to that place and rebuild.
Something that most people are unaware of is that detailed planning is Si instead of Ni. Ni is the projection and Si are the details. The best thing about being an INTJ is that we have Te and Se which means we're pretty good at dealing with unknowns so I agree with your comment ✊
@@justcallmejon22 I've always gotten a plain sectional, big, L-shaped desk for work, and have small stacks of notes and paper information placed over the big, flat desk space, all within arm reach. It's kinda a dichotomy of ordered chaos with both a creative and calculating process.
I think we subconsciously plan as we go. I like to think of our "planning" as we know what's best due to patterns, and past experiences. we will do what we've always known to do when a similar situation arises. we go with the flow so easily because we have given every scenario so much thought and we know we can tackle whatever happens because we always figure it out regardless. I think it also comes across that we plan and we are specific and we like to do things a certain way. (the best way) for example, if I know I'm going to dinner and then a movie, and last minute it changes to the movie first, I'm gonna be annoyed because now I'm starving since I havent ate cuz i planned on eating first... but only if I cant change the situation to go back to dinner first. 😉 I still buy planners as if I'm actually going to use them 😅 I've tried, but I still procrastinate. "why take many day, when few day do trick?"
I just love how the intj can go from: I hate a bar because it isn’t te efficient to ‘oh christmaslights’ in what is probably one second. As entp i probably am way more of the opinion, of ‘i am in a bar’. That is my emotional engagement of the day. Stating the facts. No emotional behaviour. Then i get anxious when i see the intj get mad, and then i get relaxed when she enjoys herself. Man it’s playing with my emotions ne fe when i am with an fi user.
Well, planner is somehow my label in real life... When someone asked me about a certain aspect, they most prolly ask "what is your suggestion in dealing with this?" And my automatic response would be giving out specific instructions too. .
@@justcallmejon22that's also my spontaneous thinking... I don't know why, but it's like naturally popping out of my head and also basically based on facts I have learnt as well.. Mostly, when someone told me issues, I might automatically made a little smile when I had known what he/she should do... And honestly, one big problem that I have is... I can't trick people with spontaneous thought.. Basically it is harder for me to do harm with false advice...
Ni, the dominant function for INTJ, allows for two things, planning and adaptability. To a certain extent, we understand one comes at the expense of the other or rather that commitments/obligations limit adaptability. Also, with the ability to say, "let's do x" and the ability to plan and see the 30 steps to do it instantly (a plan) gives us flexibility. Some of this is Te jumping in.
Most if not all of my planning is micro planning or projecting interesting information into the future and the implications of such information. As far as a plan for my life or career, I'm lost 😂
The thing that confused me is that I don't consider myself a super genius. So I kept hearing that INTJ are super geniuses and I felt like I fell short of that requirement. But I also have ADHD which dramatically changed my ability to collect information. But yeah that's another thing that is misunderstood is that personality doesn't equate to intelligence. How you learn doesn't change what you are interested in. Once I accepted this, I was able to accept my personality.
Have a vision for major goals (5 - 10 years+). Understand implications of new events and information and how that relates to implementation of the vision. Rapidly pivot if new information will progress towards vision faster than current plan. Just need to trust Ni to filter relevant information in real time. No need to plan the small stuff (once matured with enough life experience). A lot of miss types because people want to be an evil mastermind... While in reality INTJ are 'generally' moral and value based individuals due to how Fi fits in the cognitive stack. Some of the stereotypes are from ESFPs looking at their shadow.
That's why I hate the "mastermind" title on the 16personalities website because it 'sounds cool' that people will accept it as their type even if there's a lot of evidence showing otherwise 😠
I dont need to plan my day... thats awful, i do what i need and want when as needed. I just look ahead, and know that to do in the next days, and to day, if i change my intentions for the day, its my choice, so thats a plan 😂❤🙏🌎👍🇩🇰
I’m not sure if I’m an intj, I’ll take an expert assessment at some point, but I score intj on all the 8-10 tests I’ve taken over the last half a year so I assume I’m one. I personally have noticed the ‘mastermind’ and planner/architect stereotypes apply quite well to me. I constantly find myself going through future scenarios where I’m picking out the best trajectory, adjusting multiple parameters within it etc. I do it consciously a lot, but also catch myself wondering off into this type of thinking even while doing something else or not doing anything at all. I think what is being misunderstood under planning is that it’s not the literal, exact mechanic planning where a person can just put a finger on it and say I’m gonna do this, this and then that (which still I’m sure would be the case in a more professional capacity, at least for me, or in general where the stakes are high), but a general intense inclination towards a more hollistic perception, where you just see the external world as a whole consistent logic (Te) and put yourself in it measuring your own motivations, skills, interests against the external flow of this logic (Fi to Ni). And, inevitably, when you do that you come up with a more determined pathway through your life, even down to less significant things such as taking a walk, shopping or working out.
You are INTJ jumper and not a typical INTJ it seems that you skip Te usually. You have strong Ni Fi. The way you are communicating with emotions is clear evident that you are using your Fi alot. We need to learn alot from you. Btw What is your enneagram type?
Hmmmm, I think i'm using a lot of Te making this video and having it make sense because we all know how difficult it is to explain Ni or Fi. I'm a 5w4 in Enneagram.
As an intj myself, I do want to plan out my day or something, but I just procrastinate lmao. If someone made me a plan however, I’d love to follow it. But no I don’t plan simply coz I procrastinate too much to even begin the plan. 😅
Mike Tyson said "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face" A plan made in your imagination rarely survives contact with the real world, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't have a direction and an idea of the actions that will move you in that direction. Have a goal + have daily actions that move you toward that goal = a plan. Even fighting Mike Tyson is essentially a flow chart with only a few possible final outcomes lol
When you see two INTJ'S they have different experiences I think Enneagram bleeds into the MBTI cognitive functions and it's noticeable . like 5w4 or 5w6 or ones All correlate with INTJ'S but adding that extra layer so they are all INTJ'S just with a different flavor instead of the stereotypes of INTJ 's with memes that exaggerate this type and they plan for every single moment of their life which pretty silly haha!
Im goad someone said it. But please dont talk bad about Kanye his music is dope and hes an inspiration. Loool 😂 Jay Z is an overrated rapper and I domt agree hes an INTJ. Jay is an Si type. If you want a great example of INTJ 50 cent is one.
You rebranded! Kanye will always be one of the best producers of our lifetime, I will never deny that but he did have a moment when he said a bunch of out-of-pocket BS such as slavery being a choice. It's okay that we disagree on Jay and 50's typing but I can't see either of them as the type that you're claiming them to be.
Intj "not doing anything":
-research
-stress relief
-practicing skills
-working on projects
-ignoring the meat vessel
-consuming story experiences
-mentally rearrange furniture again
-an unhealthy session of existentialism
-imagine a dozen situations or emergencies
-make lists
-check plans

This list is so true and so fun, in particular the session of existentialism and imagine the worst case scenarios.

Well done.
This list is so good I feel attacked 😂
Those unhealthy existentialism sessions always feel like such interesting thought experiments at the time... 😅
"Even the best plans never survive first contact"
Its better to be flexible with a goal than to rigidly stick to a plan.
Well put. The details don't really matter to us because we know it's going to change and it really is fun to have to think on your feet sometimes 😂
Well put! 👍
Most mornings I lay in bed for a moment pondering and listing my tasks for the day and their relative importance and such, but I rarely have a precise plan
Same here. It doesn't feel like I can start the day until those things are checked off the list 😂
Yeah, and I keep having to re-ponder my tasks because I was supposed to start three minutes ago because I spent too long in bed.
I thought I might not be an INTJ, but this video made me realize that it was just a stereotype, thankyou
We come in all shapes and sizes INTJ! Take me for example, I'm an INTJ with no plans at the moment 🙃
@@justcallmejon22 :)
The way an intuitive plans is a lot looser than the way a sensate plans. It's more like a flexible schedule than a prescribed liturgy. We're intuitive!
Exactly!
Speaking absolutely from experience 😂
Anyways, keep up the excellent content, man!
Glad I was able to help my fellow Architect ✊
They are ALWAYS painting us as poindexters
That dopamine is addicting 😅
@@justcallmejon22 It certainly is... 😆
“Time is very important” “Not doing anything is also important”.
I know exactly how you feel about the embarrassment, especially in the work environment. “What did you do this weekend” gets kinda awkward when you do “nothing” more than everyone else lol
Plan A, B, C, D considered or anything in between, including Z
As a 30+ year old INTJ. Doing nothing is sometimes great to reduce the stress of everything life. I sometimes go to the bar and sit where no one can see me and think in a new environment.
Agreed. It's nice to 'reboot' the system by doing nothing but doing nothing is going on a hike for me 😂
Seriously, a plan with no plans is the most anxiety provoking thing ever! Planning to do nothing sounds amazing! Great video!
Thank you 🙏
12:29 #intjtruthbomb - - As an INTJ (professionally typed 3x for corporate leadership positions), I enjoy frequently scheduled intervals of fun, but also 'wing it' often in my career (still achieved 25+ years of senior leadership positions with several top-tier corporations in my industry). If I forget to eat for a few meals and realize it, I just tell myself that it is a fast and then schedule time in my Outlook calendar to eat lunch the next day. 10:10-10:35 ... yep (#lollygagging ... may be my favorite or at least, the most consistent life long past-time).
Why is eating such a chore for us 😂
For me, it's more a matter of "rerouting" when it comes to everyday life.
I relate completely. My ESFP friend said I was negative not too long ago because I was listing all the issues of his plan. The beauty of foresight 🙃
Being lazy af is an underrated pleasure 😂

"what is an INTJ supposed to sound like"
usually INTJ dont sound/talk as much as you do. You sometimes talk as an ENFP however i think (after seeing allot of your vids) that you are just a very passionate INTJ in the topics that you are talking about. Thanks i like your vids/messages (im a INTJ)

The attention is mostly put on the objective than how to exactly proceed (aka "the plan")
There may be a single or a second or third intention, never simply because of the fun or the need of it.The drawback is that anything unexpected puts me very off guard and I need to retreat to recalculate to assess the true situation, sometimes into my shell
It's fun sometimes when things go unexpected. Aside from the fact that you collect more data to better improve your future plans, you also get to flex your adaptability muscle 💪
The food situation is so relatable LOL
😂
Agree with you fully. I think it is best explained that INTJs are like the captain on a large boat....we don't have all the details planned out to but we know where we are headed and we adjust accordingly. We have overarching goals and plans. We don't plan minute by minute
A minute-by-minute plan is so inefficient 😅
I understand all too well having to plan for spontaneity 😂
A good way to put it is, we are the engagers, but we don't engage.
I've been watching your videos non-stop since yesterday and I feel so understood.. its amazing!
Keep it up with the good content, cannot wait for your channel to grow bigger 🙌
Thank you for the support! I"m glad you're enjoying the channel 🙂
I've noticed on myself, that I'm doing a lot of 'recharging' and then I'm doing stuff in hyper intense blocks of work/ other activities... in short.
Yup! INTJs usually work in spurts.
One intj to another you cannot see potential danger to your future plans due to not timing your meal and not adiquately taking nutrition then you will be the one in the hinderence in your plans in 3:38 min
I'll eat right before I die!! 😅
ENFPs will always be the most consistently inconsistent type to me and I love it 😂
I just found your channel.
Happy to hear that you're enjoying the content! The life of a healthy INTJ is to plan and adjust as we go 😀
I'm confused between Intp and Intj ? I'm cautious in nature and tend to worry a lot (anxiety) workaholic...but on the same time i don't follow schedule and less tidy..

Frank James and dear kristin are the best at making stereotypes funny. Hope to get to their level one day 🙃
OMG!!! That note on sleeping when I'm hungry is soooo me. 😂
My mom always gives me the look like i'm the dumbest person alive when I tell her that 😂
Planning...yes, but that can be strategically routed only to a point, where if completely projected, gets more vague the farther out the projection is hypothesized. Other outer influences & events harden the actual trajectory, sometimes in rather bizzare ways, so flexibly & ingenuity are packed for easy access. Thinking on your feet becomes invaluable, with knowledge + experience sharpening the accuracy along the route...🖤
Thinking on your feet is also fun at times 😅
I also was wondering if I was an intj because I didn’t have everything planned out, your explanation helped me a lot in finding a better me, thanks. 😁
Glad it was helpful!

A bit of a wall of text, but worth the read:
INTJs are actually perceivers, not judgers (Ni is perception), so judger stereotypes may not fit so cleanly.
Well stated! I agree with everything you said 💯
For MBTI, INTJ are Judgers (what the 4th character stands for).
It's actually really frustrating to make plans daily sometimes, I even plan how much longer I should take to rest during my study sessions.
Good! Rest is important to be the most efficient ✊
Ha. It's almost as if they conveniently forget that INTJs have Se which literally thrives on random sensory experiences.
Exactly 🙃
INTJ here. I am an old man.
Example: Job interview
I got asked the question that interviews like to ask.
I used to do the same thing where I plan every conversational thread and encounter but I don't do it anymore because I've learned to enjoy surprises 😀

Of course I plan plenty, but the idea that I purposely fail all the damn time just hurts lmao 🤣

Thanks for mentioning Myer Briggs Discord servers. Never thought such niche groups could've existed. Got a plan to seek out some servers as a step in a few of my future plans.
Great video brother
Any time! Be careful in those discord servers btw, a lot of people in there have lotsss of character 😅
Nope!
My ISFJ friend has been feeding me for the past 20 years. I appreciate her so much 😂
Most so-called "INTJs" you see on the internet are probably just edgy XSTJs with an ego problem.
It's unbelievable sir how relatable you are. Thank you for sharing this information. I'm binging your videos
Glad you like them 🙏
For me, I prefer planning and applying structure, but I also know better than to go over each outcome. There are so many outcomes that could happen that planning for each one is a one-way ticket to insanity. Especially if others can interfere with the plan.
Exactly! There's no way we can plan for everything without losing our minds 😅
I understand ✊
However, plans also need to be elastic as unexpended things are bound to come up
In the end, it was a simple calculation for me - "Is this going to help me achieve my goal(s) more efficiently?" For me, the answer was a clear YES.
@@toonamiguy INTJ Fam ✊
(the best way)
for example, if I know I'm going to dinner and then a movie, and last minute it changes to the movie first, I'm gonna be annoyed because now I'm starving since I havent ate cuz i planned on eating first... but only if I cant change the situation to go back to dinner first. 😉
I still buy planners as if I'm actually going to use them 😅 I've tried, but I still procrastinate. "why take many day, when few day do trick?"
That last sentence reminds me of Kevin from the Office when he said "Why waste time say lot word when few word do trick."
@@justcallmejon22 yesss that's exactly what I was goin for
I just love how the intj can go from: I hate a bar because it isn’t te efficient to ‘oh christmaslights’ in what is probably one second.
I'm not sure how to interpret "I am in a bar...that is my emotional engagement of the day". How is it emotions if there's no emotion involved? 😅
Well, planner is somehow my label in real life... When someone asked me about a certain aspect, they most prolly ask "what is your suggestion in dealing with this?"
And my automatic response would be giving out specific instructions too. .
Oddly enough, that's how my ESFJ interprets questions as well 😅
@@justcallmejon22that's also my spontaneous thinking...
Papa Ni always plotting, and Mama Te always making shit happen as always 😂
this is so trueeeeeeee
Most if not all of my planning is micro planning or projecting interesting information into the future and the implications of such information. As far as a plan for my life or career, I'm lost 😂
The beauty is that you've been planning something the entire time and you don't even know it!
Do I plan everything out, or are humans too predictable? 😂
and some are predictably unpredictable 😅
The thing that confused me is that I don't consider myself a super genius. So I kept hearing that INTJ are super geniuses and I felt like I fell short of that requirement. But I also have ADHD which dramatically changed my ability to collect information. But yeah that's another thing that is misunderstood is that personality doesn't equate to intelligence. How you learn doesn't change what you are interested in. Once I accepted this, I was able to accept my personality.
I'm happy to hear that you learned to accept things for the way that they are. That's always a great feeling ✊
Exactly! Why waste time on the details 😂
Exactly, that Ni planning is not always concious. Whatever your results might be, welcome to the INTJ fam. You're always welcomed 😀
I plan my schemes but anything outside the scope of my scheme isn't that important to me so I don't time to invest in.that.
I understand that 💯
ancient daoist sages were intjs
I can see that ✊
You are INTJ jumper and not a typical INTJ it seems that you skip Te usually.
Not doing anything is recharging which is doing something
💯
As an intj myself, I do want to plan out my day or something, but I just procrastinate lmao. If someone made me a plan however, I’d love to follow it. But no I don’t plan simply coz I procrastinate too much to even begin the plan. 😅
that and also things never end up the way you expect it to 🙃

Mike Tyson said "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face"
A plan made in your imagination rarely survives contact with the real world, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't have a direction and an idea of the actions that will move you in that direction. Have a goal + have daily actions that move you toward that goal = a plan.
Even fighting Mike Tyson is essentially a flow chart with only a few possible final outcomes lol
Mike Tyson was a beast and I love that quote from him ✊
Justtt gonna say "yyeeaaahhh" being an INTJ
😂😅
When you see two INTJ'S they have different experiences I think Enneagram bleeds into the MBTI cognitive functions and it's noticeable . like 5w4 or 5w6 or ones All correlate with INTJ'S but adding that extra layer so they are all INTJ'S just with a different flavor instead of the stereotypes of INTJ 's with memes that exaggerate this type and they plan for every single moment of their life which pretty silly haha!
Im goad someone said it. But please dont talk bad about Kanye his music is dope and hes an inspiration. Loool 😂
Jay Z is an overrated rapper and I domt agree hes an INTJ.
