    I really like how “Liberating Prisoners” is part of the character sheet.
    You’re literally in a dungeon, with cells and prisoners. And you’re not just in a random underground.

    I like the clear-cut good versus evil design philosophy, especially as you mentioned the difficulty of playing out a negotiation single-player. The least obtrusive way I could think to implement such a mechanic would be for some/all creatures to have a bribery stat or some other statistic which elaborates some specific condition under which they will not fight.

    Congratulations that the kick starter is going so well. Until I watched this video I had thought the shift was a bit complicated and I was going to get ten game and switch back to a target roll with shift only needed on one die (eg level 1 manoeuvres 8+, level 1 with extra damage 8+ and a 5 or 6 on at least one die after shift).
    Now I see it’s not actually that complicated in practise and the game looks great.

    Thanks for the video. It took me a few sessions to watch it all, but it was a good introduction to how the game plays. I realize you were doing this as a live stream and things are clearer in hindsight when you can review, but... a few things I noticed, FWIW. I don't think I would have considered bone fragments as something that could be hung up mainly because I expect fragments to be too small for that, but I guess this comes down to personal opinion. I see someone else commented about bone not being preferred by the relevant god, so there's that. Near the end with the snake combat: there's a chat comment at 2:26:36 about shifting for the Hack that I believe was correct. The roll made at 2:26:08 was 5-2, Hack needs 3-2, and you have shift 2, so on the third round, you could have done a Hack attack. At about 2:32:36, the snake rolled 1-3 that with its shift 1 +3 from the adjustment for fatigue, you brought to 2-3 for a Horned Jab attack. That works, but with a total shift of 4, that could have gone to 5-3 for a Smother which seems like the better one for the snake (miss next round). I was going to ask if you should have gone for that instead, but seeing in the PDF (it's not always easy to read everything on screen here), that the special attack is once per combat, I guess there's no need to go for that attack again since it happened earlier and the main damage is the same for both maneuvers (d6 - 2). --- EDIT: I was looking at rules v0.92; I believe you were using an earlier version here and your card doesn't say once per combat., so maybe these earlier 1-3 rolls should have gone to the 5-3 Smother with the adjusted shift 4. --- Also, with how much can potentially go on here, I can see how it would be easy to forget things like using armor's benefit until you really get used to the rules. Definitely looks like a good game, but a lot to learn.

    Congratulations on a great game. Combat and room generation/content is impressively complex for 2d6. I particularly like the Shift and Fatigue systems - they add depth and tension.
    Being a Romanian from Bucharest, I could not help but notice the Gods' names - Intuneric (Darkness), Maduva (Marrow), Nevazator (Blind) and Radacina (Root) - excellent choices you made there. I hope to see more references in future expansions, as they fit the overall theme quite well (and probably sound quite exotic to most).
    Similarly to most nations in Europe, we have very dark concepts in Romanian folklore and tales (forget Dracula, who is not even Romanian - simply a figment of Bram Stoker's imagination).
    The actual undead according to Romanian lore are the Strigoi. You should also look into Greuceanu (hero) and Zmei (grotesque, intelligent monsters), Gheonoaia (evil woodpecker woman), Statu-Palma-Barba-Cot (satanic dwarf), Baba Cloanta (immortal witch), Moroi (revenant, sometimes a baby who was buried alive) etc. The Witcher could learn a thing or two from us. :)

    All in all, 2D6 Dungeon looks like a wonderful experience for solo adventuring and delving. I also hope to see your vision for the 2D6 overworld some day.

      Ah Mike! You are the first one to spot that! Yes, I use quite a lot of Romanian words as I like their sounds and have been meaning to probe the history a bit. It is a technique i use to find new words that as you say to us seem exotic. I love some of these suggestions as well. Thank you for the kind words! Toby

Should you ever need any support for specific Romanian references and meaning of any fantastic or even mundane names and concepts, please let me know (twenty years ago, I used to study Romanian folklore and literature at the Transilvania University in Brasov, in central Romania).     Nice play through. It looks like it’d be easier just to number the tables. roll on table 5 vs. …roll on table RTPTML, etc..… 😂…but otherwise this looks fun!! Love the combat!!

    Here after watching the Dungeon Dive vid! First watch, but one thought about hitting powerfully - what if causing half or more remaining damage to a monster (or adventurer!) had some critical effect? Reducing or temporarily disabling Shift maybe? Stops interrupts? Some other interesting effect?
    May be something you have already considered

    Looks great - congratulations on the Kickstarter (I'm not on board yet - gonna back next month if I have managed to buy no games between now and then - been a bit too much game-related spending so far this year 😂).
    Really like the look of this and it's great to see a pencil and paper fantasy game at this level of complexity coming from a UK designer. I like that you didn't cite the obvious parallels (Four Against Darkness, D100 Dungeon) as influences - makes me think you're going your own way. The combat system makes that pretty clear - very different and interesting.
    Nice to see you tweaking and making notes as you go - it's clear that you're determined to release the best possible game that you can.
    One small thing - will you be differentiating items in the text that can be picked up (like the bone fragment you found)? Like making them bold / italics. Might add some clarity and prevent situations where the player hesitates and loses the flow a bit as a result (found this to be the case in a game I played recently).

      Thanks lone_adventurer (love the name by the way), yes I am determined to make this as good as I can. I have to be honest I have never played either FAD or D100, they didn't appeal to me. I have seen them played and thought I could offer another option, something that was more random, with more options. But I have played many dungeon based games and know what a good delve is!
      I’m trying to embrace the roleplay aspect of the game and feel by highlighting the text it might break this immersion. Also, there are no strict rules for the main roleplay mechanism I call Inventive Usage, clear guidelines that revolve around common sense yes, but if you can think of a way to use something you encounter and it makes sense then I'm not going to say no. I may not have thought of it myself and so would not think to highlight it if I was highlighting text. I think there is a satisfying roleplaying reward if you can come up with a solution when presented with the ingredients and as we are seeing you can come up with some unexpected combinations when playing 2D6 Dungeon.

      @@IthaquasBane Excellent question. I need to clarify this in the rules but it will be that if you successfully call for a favour you remove them. If you fail you lose one FP from that god. You can naturally keep trying until you have no points.

    I just missed the Kickstart and am disappointed at that because just finished level 1 and want to so badly dive into the next levels. Hope to see it on drive thru rpg or somewhere else easily accessible upon launch. I've actually decided to for now incorporate this in a d100 Dungeon to give more filling to d100. Trying to use your combat system in other solo rpgs as well. Awesome awesome Dungeon creation ideas too. 2d6 scratches alot of the itches.

    I understand that negotiating is a tricky thing to add, but you could have a simple sneak mechanism
    Roll 2D6. If the result times together is smaller than the room size in squares, you can avoid a fight, but if you fail, you lose shift for the first round? Different room types could have modifiers for hiding - that store room for example could be treated as double the room size due to its many hiding possiblities. Then you just have to wait... Seems there is a mechanism for that with regards to locked doors?

    For stretch goals also maybe throw in the cards and not just add on options would be nice depending on the tier of course
    Or more fun stretch goal rewards like more expansions, maybe co-op option for up to 4 players , more accessories etc

    I'm wondering if the Inventive Usage mechanic is explained in the rulebook? It is a very neat but somewhat purposefully loose in terms of rules and I feel like with everything going on it can be easily overlooked. I'm pretty excited for this game. Great job on the design.

    Interesting video, it occurred to me that higher level characters will auto hit after round 4 because there is such a high shift value . Im no maths genius though..

    Not sure where to ask this, but am I correct that as of right now the "orbit" in terms of scrolls doesn't have any functionality at the moment? I've searched through the rulebook and tables and I see each scroll has an orbit but I don't see anywhwere where it comes into gameplay. Just curious if I missed something. Can't wait to play this! I purchased physical copies a week or two ago so hopefully soon!

      There are references in the text when exploring and they help to identify what sort of spell they are. Also with 2D6 Realm they come into play some more. :-)

    The snake's Smother ability seems too punishing with missing your next round altogether. Since smother would impede your ability to move freely maybe losing your shift bonus (from all sources) in the next attack would be harsh enough while still allowing you a chance to attack. I hate missing turns so this would at least give you a slim chance to hit back.

      Yeah I nerfed that ability. NOw they can only do it once per combat so hopefully that helps!

    At 1:44:00 You only use 1 of your shift point, could you have used the remaining shift point to add to damage (even though it wouldn't have changed the outcome) or do you add your shift points to the damage only when you roll an exact strike?

    In the instructions for the entrance room. You have a 5 and 3 rolled, and you say to reduce it to 3x2. Is this because its above 12? So anything above 12 becomes a room size of 3x2?

    1:37:15 so I assumed the XP 35 on the apothecary is how many xp I gained defeating him?
    edit: ah.. nvm
    edit 2 1:53:53, 3-6 .. you cant get 3 with 2D6 unless 1die is 1, which is a corridor :D .. neither is 5, or 4 .. so your small room is stuck on only roll 3x2
    edit 3 1:57:55 .. shouldn't you roll again to increase the room size since its a double 4 ;D
    this is from your beta 0.92
    Large rooms. If you roll a room that is 32
    squares or larger (6x6 plus rolls that have
    doubled up) then the space is considered
    to be a large room
    6x6 is 36 :D not 32

    I really like some of these mechanics (even though the name and some terminology of the terminology feels anti-thematic for fantasy). But am I understanding right that the Fatigue mechanic starts making both parties better in combat as it builds, making maneuvers easier to do?

    It's not clear went to roll in the dungeon ancestry, as I play I've been only rolling on small rooms and large rooms, but I see that in the ancestral table there's a lot of rooms as well, when do I roll on the ancestry?
    Maybe I'm not seeing well in the text when I'm reading it

      No problem. If the area of the room is 6 or smaller roll on the small rooms table. If the room has an area of 32 or more then roll on the Large rooms table. Everything in the middle roll on the normal rooms table for the level. Good luck!

    ~@1:18:00: How did you gain a favor for Murataynie when he doesn't accept bone (according to the god's card)? I would imagined that someone scarified a Large Rat, hung the meat and skin (leather) to the god, let the blood spill (since there is no way to hang it) and left the rest of the rat on the floor. By the time you got there, all that was left where the bones that were step on and broken. (Bone Fragments) There may be rotten meat and shrivel up skin on the hooks, but both are now useless.

      If there are some bones left in there Murataynie doesn't mind as long as there is something there that he requires for favour. There is some flexibilty here...

      Good question! Yes, we have 2 more Kickstarters this year. The next one is a side step from 2D6 and is our new miniature skirmish game...and then at the end of the year probably November I'll be launching 2D6 Legendary Dungeon. Next year we have 2D6 Void coming...the sci-fi version of 2D6 Dungeon.

    There are no classes and only 3 weapons. No magic besides the 3 scrolls you can carry...
    Game seems unfinished or cut on purpose to sell expansion sets.
    There are really neat mechanics in this game tho.

      Well :-) I can answer a few of those statements if you like. You can be what class you like, the game just isn't bogged down with class rules. You just have to imagine. When you look at a party how many weapons do you see them using...usually about three types. There are potions, magic items and magic rooms, blessings and god interaction as well as the scrolls. There are more tables in this game than any other game I have seen. So we haven't cut content there. We have actually packed in much more content than the campaign had original been designed for including a range of stretch goal tables, adding even more options. You can actually play the game for free if you like. Yes, the rules are free, for level 1. Cheers :-)

      @@TobyLancaster_DR_Games ok but when i imagine a dungeon party there could be more posible variaty than: longsword, greataxe and heavy mace. I know i can imagine everything but its still a strange design choice as the weapons stats boil down to the same values no? So why not calling them: close combat weapon, ranged weapon and magic attack or something and make the manouvers a bit more swingy?
      And more tables dont make a better game. 140 pages of tables. Pages of d6 tables that could have easily been summed up for convinience. Its too much imo.
      Still generally nice to have.
      Good game overall totally worth it if one likes that amount of tables and the lack of quests or stats or charakter.

      That looks like a Pentel P205. I’ve been doing adventure and game design with that pencil for 40 years.
      I’m curious about this Frixion thing, though.

      @@steelmongoose4956 I call them character sheet pens... red, black, blue, green purple... writes and looks like a ball pen. Erases easier than a pencil. Max readability, max erasability
