Hey, Sunzenaut here :) Glad that you liked my game!
Just a quick note: You can't encounter a Boss in Corridors, only in Rooms. So your first and only Luck point was wasted avoiding that first boss encounter ;)
And of course you met Nightmare when you wanted to show a boss fight. As you say, that one is completely insane, kind of a joker boss :D
Regarding the DR, I definatly intended to write "equal to or above 12" like in Dark Fort, not "exceed 12". Also, the "minimum of 1 damage regardless of armor" is supposed to count for both PCs and enemies :)
Hi Sunzenaut - thanks for your comment (and your excellent game)!
Ah yeah - I could have used that luck point a few times ;) I almost rerolled the Nightmare but I was low on time so went with it!
Thanks for the clarifications - I'll pin the comment so people spot them.
Grotten, the Dark Souls of 1-bit dungeons! Where a rat and ruin your day, lol.
Ha, that rat really did a number on me 😁
For anyone interested, I took the map tiles and put into mini-sleeves and cut off the top of the sleeve. Just wanted to see if I could protect the tiles a bit better. I don't think I'll try this with the smaller pieces or the monster/pc tiles, but I think it will work well for the map tiles.
I backed this on kickstarter cuz I loved the whole vibe. Not had a chance to play it yet, so it was good to watch you give it a go 😊
Enjoyed the playthrough! At 33:45 you rolled a boss monster in a corridor. It looks like you could have saved your Luck point. The rule for corridors given above the Encounter Categories says to "reroll if encountering a Boss."
Indeed you are correct - a luck point would have come in super-handy a few times!
I just received my copy yesterday - I'm a bit nervous to cut the tiles out, but I'm excited to play it.
Cool little game! I like that it's MB compatible. Got mine set up on the table now.
Oh yeah that's definitely a bonus! Look forward to seeing you cover the game on the Dungeon Dive at some point!
It might be a good idea to make all dice rolls with "advantage" when playing this game. This adjustment allows you to roll two dice instead of one, and then use the best result.
Lovely little game.
Looks like a nice little game, and those small square dungeon tiles are brilliant! Thanks for the playthrough!
Agreed - love the tiles and love the 1-bit art style of them and the tokens!
Nice! Didn't expect any coverage on this. I kickstarted it and have it now but have not had a chance to play yet. Back to watching your playthrough!
Enjoy the rest of the playthrough! And then check out the game - its easy to pick up and play!
@@lone_adventurer Still watching. I'm on an 8-hr plane flight wednesday night and wondering if I could bring this on the plane and try it out a bit! Looks like it could be small enough to try....
@@LordGwydion you totally could! Might be worth drawing the tiles as cards then drawing the resultant map on a piece of paper in case of turbulence ;)
There are guides in the zine for using the game with just pen and paper, no tiles 🙂
Fun in a simple, unassuming package with an admirably small footprint. Thanks for your review!
Bravo !! 👍
My only complain with those kind of games is that any card that is smaller than half a poker card, I find a bit uncomfortable to handle. Of course you can always print it again to scale and it does affects portability a little bit but nonetheless I wishe it was bigger
Yeah they are a little fiddly and you can't get much on them; I consider them more of a bonus - you can easily use them as a prompt to draw you map and label what you found in each room in whatever way you want.
