Those unfinished bolt heads are gonna rust quickly!! Engine looks good, here's a little tip for all the 49-53 flathead builders: When you're installing the distributor into the engine, a paint marker line on the body of the distributor at number 1 cylinder makes it much easier to clock the gear for spot on timing. Trying to hold a finger in the right spot can make it a challenge to get it right the first time.
Hi Mark, yes, a mark on the distributor could be helpful. I have never had a problem with the stock Ford bolts rusting quickly. The head bolts are around 70 years old and only had slight surface rust on the heads.
Hi gob, I hope so. I have been so busy the last 9 months that I havent had the time to do anything for my channel. I miss having the extra time. Hopefully things will slow down at some point so I can get back to the fun of making videos.
Hi Freddy, I have seen where someone had taken a PVC pipe and connected fittings to it, filled it with oil, connected it to the rear oil passage hole and pressurized it to force the oil through the motor. I put three quarts of oil in the motor, the last quart I flow slowly down the rear oil passage hole. This fills the oil pump and rear cam gear area with oil and helps the oil flow quickly within the motor.

Did you change the busing in the block? Ive heard its good to do, Im contemplating doing it....
Hi Andrew, I didn't. Take a look at the pump shaft and the bushing, if there isn't a lot of play between the two you're probably ok.
