    Secrets of 6.0 longevity. Look how convenient that oil filter location is.

    I wanted 2 add that pouring 1/2 qt oil in new filter (since it is mounted verticle) no oil will pour out. Better 4 engine than an empty filter at start up. Enjoy yer video's.

    Also, depending on your hand strength, you may not want to use a tool to tighten the new oil filter. I have never used anything other than my hands to install new oil filters --- hundreds installed and zero leaks! If you can get close to 3/4 turn after the gasket ring just makes contact with the sealing surface on the engine, you will be fine. After you start the engine to get oil into the filter, take a look under the vehicle to make sure no oil is leaking. Top off and go.

    What a brilliant design. A drain the stays oil everyone by splashing off the exhaust and a filter that dumps it's oil al over the belly pan so it drips out from all four corners.

    @akortscheff If you press the button it should come up with a menu option to reset the oil change mileage. The owners manual would also cover this if you have it. Hope this helps you out.

    On my 05' I turn the key on but don't start it. and push the gas pedal three times the mileage or percentage gauge will reset. It does cover it in the manual.

    I have a 2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD with a 6.0 and my oil filter is half the size as the one shown. Do you have a part # for the one you installed and took off? Thanks

      +EnslightenedNeanderthal Every model might be slightly different. Always double check the manual and go with that.

    If the needles stuck in that postion it may be a bad gauge.

    i noticed you didn't put a deflector out the back of the skidplate so the oil doesn't drain onto the skidplate. i could see the oil dripping out the front holes of the skidplate. out service manager gets mad at us if we don't either take the skid plate off or put a deflector on there, he hates comebacks for oil leaks, and all it is, is the oil laying on the skid plate.

    One trick you use with the filter is drive a punch through the bottom and let it drain

    Why not just add oil to the filter before putting it on?

    This should be the same on my 1500hd 6.0, right?

      Hey Beau. I'm sure you have long since taken care of this, but yes, it is the same. I just changed the oil on my 2001 1500HD last night and it was identical

    I have a plastic tube that came through the drain hole, which is not quite small enough to pull all the way out. Looking for a parts diagram to see what the heck it is....I assume a pick up tube for the pump maybe?

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +HardDriveRecording regardless of what it is, you shouldn't be able to see it from the drain plug. You should consider dropping the drainpan and figuring out what that part is and where it's supposed to be. Don't continue to drive the truck in this condition as it's possible the oil isn't getting to where it needs to be. Let us know what happens! 1aauto.com 866-403-3393

    What size and kind of oil filter is that? the one i use is half that size.

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Charles Jackson That appears to be a Parts Master 61522 oil filer, which I believe crosses to a AC Delco PF61 and Fram PH9837!

      PF46E or PF46 AC Delco
      PH3675 Fram
      Not these one ?

      Was going to ask the same, mine is a Yukon XL Denali... maybe that's why?

    • @plugger4945
      @plugger4945 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Charles Jackson you're right! I use a Mobil 1 and it's like half of what their using. My 1980s -454 used that huge filter. I'd like to know why the tiny filter is being used now. I'm guessing $, has something to do with it. Their cheaper to make,and they still charge the same price.

    My filter is covered in oil. Any ideas why? My low engine oil light came on. Any gaskets anywhere leaking?

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you just did an oil change and replaced the oil filter, the old gasket from the old oil filter may have gotten stuck on the engine block. You may want to see if this is the case. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 866-403-3393

    how is it a very bad design? having the drain plug going straight down will cause even more problems hence why the skid plate is there, the bolt can get sheered off, and actually most cars are out the side for the same reason. all GM truck pans are identical, no reason to make them any different. also, since the 8.1 and 6.0 have dual 3" exhaust they take up a good amount of room, which is another reason the oil hits it a little.
