Short & sweet however how do I check my oil life on my 2010 silverado 2500hd WT ? On dash, I can click on the pin button on the upper right side , odometer, transmission temperature, a few other things, but no oil life 🤔 that feature not included?!
yea I just did mine for the first time. Used truck no manual. Figured 5 quarts of oil. Went OUT of MY WAY to find a 5 quart jug of oil. Because yea we always need 5 quarts right. Even telling my wife I hate that they sell 1 gallon jugs of oil because we need 5 quarts. Do the oil change and find out it is still short a quart. Should have checked here first. I am feeling my age now. Days past all of this stuff was the same. I only needed one size oil filter wrench. The oil pan bolt was SAE size. Everything was 5 quarts. Now every one has to be different. And metric size bolts. I am always running to the store for parts because everything has to be unique. Frustration. Used to be use the chilton, now check you tube first. Yikes. I am too old. Wait I am not done yet. You know what comes next. The oil life indicator. In this case NOT unique enough! It resets to 3000 miles. I want 5000 miles. So even when the system is designed to be unique it still fails me. YIKES! Grumpy old man complaints. By the way found something else out. When the oil life indicator reaches zero and you are still driving it the check engine light comes on. When you reset the oil life indicator the check engine light goes out. Or at least mine did and seems to coincidental to not be a fact.
I've heard the only certainty in life is change. I suppose these trucks are no different. Interesting about the oil life indicator and I'm not sure but check engine light might have been a coincidence? I appreciate you watching and taking the time to share your experience with this job in the comments. Cheers
great question I will look into that as all of Silverado's have had issues with that system at some point. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a good question and possibly a video suggestion in the comments. Cheers
ahhh well maybe we will get the right truck in the future and do a video on that oil change too haha, thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Cheers
I appreciate that you took the time and effort to share this. I also like the back and forth camera movement to show where relative things are.
