Great vid. Fun to watch and listen. I suspect the Porsche could have walked away, but was not trying as hard. I had the feeling he didn't know the track as well as the Evo, and was not as sure where to brake for the turns, so he didn't use all of his top end speed. I also didn't see him drive over any curbs, which I think he needed to do if he was really pushing it. In any event, the Evo driver, and car, were great.
Exactly this. Evo isn't made for this like that is. Gt2 aswell, should have walked this Evo and I love a good Evo. Evo 8 is/was the best they did. 9 was cool and the ten made the Evo history but none would keep up in this track with a gt2 and a good driver like what's in the Evo now.

I think if Mitsubishi start giving their Evos more power (around 500hp), you will see some very impressive times. Most of these supercar manufacturers will be very worried.

I don' t think so the Evo was past like it was standing still. The Porsche was driving fast enough so it could not over take it period. I know someone that has an Evo 9 and believed he had a chance against a 996 GT2 well the owner of the GT2 said lets go registration slips car for car. The owner of the Evo said I will get another car to race you, He said no your car if you have the balls. Which he didn't saying I don't gamble because of my religion etc. The Evo is an every day family car. The Porsche is 10 years older and can still do this, that's what I call impressive. You get what you pay for. Eddie Bello has a Porsche 964 producing 1475 HP with a stock crank and wait for it, the engine is 20 years old. I dare any other car to match that I don't think so. Cheers
The Evo only really kept up close when there was traffic around slowing the Porsche down, after it cleared up it didn't look like the Evo had any opportunity to approach and pass. Maybe a driver who didn't mind abusing the Evo a bit more could have muscled past though.

Came here looking for Evo performance. But, the GT2 blasting out of every turn was amazing to see. It probably would have gotten much more ahead if it didn't have to wait for people to get out of the way, something the Evo didn't have to.

Hello everybody here is why I love Porsche so much for me there is no substitute. Sure the Evo is a fast car, but it can't compete against GT2. That GT2 is a 996 so its approx 8 years old a 2 wheel drive and to perform like that as the evo is 4 wheel drive, that super impressive. How the GT2 past the evo so fast, I don't believe the Porsche is using full power, just enough to stay out in front. My friend has got a 996 turbo with GT2 running gear, his brother has a Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670 and the Porsche detroyed him. That BOV sound is so loud you can't enjoy the video. Greetings
Friend, this is a 997 GT2. You can tell from this view mainly by the tail lights, and the exhast pipes are above the base lip of the rear bumper (the 996 has larger triangle-like exhaust pipes right at the base of the rear bumper). So, it is supposedly a 523hp car with more lateral grip than a Nissan GTR. It is also one month younger than the Evo X! (Evo released: October 2007, GT2 released November 2007). But you are correct, you do get what you pay for and it is a fantastic car definitely faster than the Evo as the Evo was drafting it and yet it pulled away in many of the corners.
Price of Freedom The EVO allowed it to pass then chased it, if you can't see that then you're blind, it was riding 5k RPMs 3/4 of the race. It could have overtaken it but it looks more like the driver wanted to play around

the gt2 driver is better, although he has 200hp more, you lost almost all the slow/medium corners where the evo should be faster!
+JamesPaolo Rodriguez bhahaha can`t you read the EVO had at least 485bhp so they`re pretty equal evo is a lighter and shorter gear ratio thats why it keeps up and the Porscche driver not that experianced they run signifcant faster then 8.30 BTG we did the 8:17 BTG in a Mini cooper 250bhp lol its all about skills... This is a driver thats better then the next driver but a good vid

No a gt2 has between 450-530bhp
and then pass the trasnmission probably 370-450 at wheel

thats what happens with an evo when you dont clean the air-filter in time. you get those small blowing sounds all the time... so annoying!
