    I think that just because they improved the GPU scaling of the M2 Max, we can already consider it a good update, and maybe we can expect good news for the M2 Ultra and maybe even for the M2 Extreme as well.

      @@motozest7856 They may just rebrand the concept and it may end up in the Mac Pro exclusive chipset. Especially because people who buy one won’t be able to upgrade certain aspects after they purchase. I wouldn’t doubt them making something unique for Mac Pro buyers

    Will be interesting to see the first benchmarks of the M2 Max if they really improved on the scaling issue

      Were there ever scaling issues? Expecting performance to scale without any penalty is unrealistic. Double cores will never result in numbers close to double performance.

    The M2 Max has always been a complete overkill for me, because I don't at all ever perform any heavy duty tasks. Details about the capabilities of the M2 Pro are what have got me thinking about Apple's strategies.

      Overkill is fine as long as you can make the most of it and get a good deal. If you can get a second hand Studio Max at the same price as an updated M2 Pro Mini, well that starts to make more sense.

    I think the jump to M1 set expectations. The M2 is iterative but it's a nice iteration. I am really excited for what the M3 will bring.

      I avoided the M1 because I saw it as a 1.0 product. It seems like M2 might have worked out the kinks which would be a good thing.
      M3 may have unique issues with the more significant changes.

      @@TreigusPereira M1 minis had the antennas put underneath the aluminum body of the computer. So people had constant drops in Bluetooth speakers and mice and keyboards specifically with the m1 mini. I haven’t heard anything about MacBooks so it’s definitely related to the design of the mini and the Bluetooth antenna placement.

    Hopefully no crazy issues occur especially since they're built on the 5nm tech! The thermal throttle on the 14' does suck to hear but hopefully after some good use and as time passes, it's not too much of an issue. 💪🏽

    Vadim is so right about M2 series being an overclocked M1 series, but I am also not sure if Apple will go all the way to 3nm with next gen. There is a chance they will go 4nm instead. Also I love the blueprints for the chips and the brief explanation!

    Fully agree with your theory on scaling tricks. With such a small and powerful chip they need to balance every single tiny thing on it. I can only imagine how hard it is for Apple engineers

    Still trying to decide if it's worth the upgrade from my 2014 MBP, the light usage I engage in wouldn't really justify it. However, the ProMotion display and brightness would be a welcome upgrade! Thanks for the content, can't wait to see what you come out with next

      Definitely worth it even for light use. But you definitely don’t have to get the newest version, even M1 used would be much better and significantly cheaper now.

    Just wonder how much of a difference does those efficiency core .. I’ve been thinking a lot before invest on a Mac my friend 16” M1 Pro MacBook Pro’s battery health is on 93% with he bought in July 2022

    I don’t think that they not been 3nm is a huge deal. If you can increase performance efficiency then you can account for having a higher transistor

    The only thing I really really care about is Timeline performance in FCP ... like with stabilization and some of the killer plugins from motionVFX etc.
    Render times are nice but not nearly as important to me...

    Another nice video, one point though, you can't compare battery life with your M1max macbooks, those batteries not only have charge cycles, they also have a 2 year age degradation
    Higher clock spees might offset added efficiency cores, you should look at battery analysis to see how many watt hours you've lost on the older box
