This was fabulous! Watched several other videos on the subject that were practically worthless. You make it simple and I like the fact that you went slow enough with you cursor that I could follow along without have to continually rewind. Thanks a million.
You are most welcome. My style is to go slow enough so that in most cases you don't have to replay the video. I don't like to have to rewind often myself when looking at tutorials, and I'm glad this pace worked for you. --Jim
This is SO helpful. Thank you. It's sometimes really tricky to find what you want with Cyberlink/PowerDirector but for once, I didn't spend ages trying to find this. 😁
@@SharperTurtle I have saved everything that I've learned from your tutorial videos in case I would forget. Thanks again and more power to your channel 😀👍👏
William, If I were working with two clips like you describe, I would use the "Crop-Zoom-Pan" tool on the landscape video to make sure it is enlarged to cover half of the screen. Obviously, this would only work if the initial resolution was good enough to enlarge it without making it look fuzzy. And the content would also have to lend itself to that kind of adjustment. --Jim
yes I have clips of myself. Want to put them side by side. But in the zoom/pan window I can't move the whole pic. It wants me to crop. oish. Maybe it's a different software I need. Oh just clicked and dragged to the window w/o zoom/crop etc. and it worked. Nice Software.
Hi Jim, Thanks for yet another helpful tutorial. I wish you could show us how you managed to "turn the page" in the example. It seems to be a transition I can't find ?!! Cheers.
I receive a lot of positive comments about the page turn transition. I accomplish that using a tool not found in PowerDirector. This was awesome and so simple too ! I will have to peruse your videos. I am looking to have a video overlaid on a computer screen or the back screen of a camera. I imagine it would be crop/zoom scenario as well.
@@SharperTurtle I noticed the tutorial with a TV screen on the side of a building as well as the video overlaid on book pages. Those will probably point me in the right direction. I am going to try to find a computer screen or camera that has a transparent layer for the screen. That may be easier to use. Thanks again.
@@SharperTurtle Thanks again. If you get the time, feel free to stop by my channel and see what you think. Of course, the latest videos are better than those in the beginning. I am trying to keep pace with those who are using better editors. So, I'm breaking away and trying not to use fonts, effects, or other gimmicks that would indicate such. My latest three or four videos are an indication to that. I've tried other editors but my laptop (intel i7, 16gb ram, 512gb SSD, GeForce MX250) struggles. I can only budget so much for drones, cameras, gimbles, etc. for something that is a hobby.
David, There are a lot of us who don't have massive resources to devote to video editing. The good news is that as your skill grows you will discover that you don't need an unlimited budget in order to be increasingly effective using what you do have. I watched your latest video and it was well done. I wouldn't have guessed that you were in any way limited in the resources you used to create it. Well done. --Jim
I have an interview video from zoom with one person on the left of me on the right and it's a half hour interview but when I trim the videos to get all the black screen out towards the end of the video the audio goes out of sync. How do I fix this?
That's not good. It's difficult for me to figure out what might be going on with your video. What do you mean by getting all black screen toward the end of the video. Is that what you want? Is that the place where the audio loses sync? --Jim
On the left side someone I'm interviewing and I'm on the right side. He did his in portrait View and I did mine in 16.9 aspect ratio. There is black in between his video not mine. Also audio is out of sync towards the end@@SharperTurtle
My best guess is that there may also be a difference between the two clips regarding the frame rate. Are there issues when you are working with his video/audio by itself? Does it stay in sync when you isolate it? Jim
The only way to do that is to make each clip 16x9 but not fill the screen with either one. You will have some unused space around each. If the screen was the ratio of 32x9 you could put them side by side. But we don't have that option. You can fit four 16x9 clips on the screen at once by using 1/4th of the screen for each and placing them on tracks above or below each other.--Jim
I'm guessing that you can, but I have not found the margin to learn about the mobile version. You might check out Maliek at PowerDirector University. --Jim
Why are my videos being uploaded onto youtube in a split screen?! I don not want my videos in a splt screen! How do I fix this? Using the power director.
Thanks for the question. Unfortunately I've never seen this happen and am puzzled at what might cause this. I don't know what the remedy might be. --Jim
Thanks Jim. Putting the background on the bottom layer and making the overlays slightly less wide has the same effect but is slightly quicker - particularly if you have - for example a screen split into 4 clips/pictures. Keep up the good work. David
Can you clarify your question? What do you think of when you are attempting to design a split-screen? How is it different from what this demonstrates? Thanks. --Jim
The only way I know how to do that is to change the aspect ratio of the original videos or leave space between them. If one video is 16:9 there is no way to make it fill half of the screen without either shrinking it down (which will create some blank space on the top and bottom) or trimming it in another way. --Jim
Place the actual videos on overlay tracks 2 and 3 with the colour board on the master track 1, saves having to adjust the width of the colour board as sometimes a bit of a gap between the two clips may occur anyway. For me, I'd probably try to use masking to create the split-screen.
That option would certainly accomplish the task just as well, Neil. It's nice when we have multiple ways to achieve a desired result in PowerDirector. --Jim
