Good stuff as always sir! I have always used Colordirector and motion tracking to accomplish something similar. Appreciate the extra tool in my belt.
You’re welcome. The Motion Mask in ColorDirector is easier because it does all the keyframing for you. For those who don't have ColorDirector "this is the way:. Problem is, lots of people are finding that the Motion Mask isn't working as it should. It's turning the background into a spotty white mess instead of turning it green. I'm not aware if CyberLink has fixed the bug yet.
@PowerDirector University Maliek, great tutorial on Masking, in this case above, could you not have just used the Chroma Key and hit the white space to do this more efferently or have I missed something? (I do understand the purpose of this video was to explain masking, I was just curious as to if this would have worked better using Chroma key?)

Isn't there any AI thingy tool that select things automatically like zoom does for people in order to remove the background?
Thats really a great way to do a custom crop.....in case your video subject is not on a green screen.....however frame by frame need accurate adjustments......great tutorial...just what i need....unfortunately my version 15 PDR doesn't have custom mask selection....huhu

Would this be as hard work as I imagine to do something like, say, a man running running across the screen ? It only really works on static images like in the example ?
In the example the woman is moving and she blinks so if you follow the tutorial it can be used for any moving subject. It would be a lot of work though.

My version of PowerDirector 19(ultra) does not have the create selection mask with the vertex points. But it has a mask painting brush instead. Is it still possible to remove a background from a video clip, that way?

You can do that.

There has to be an easier and faster way to mask around the lady's shape and still maintain the quality. I think Power Director needs to spend some more time on this function to make it more user friendly.

Hi Maliek how to make a Thumbnail on Powerdirector for Andriod? Plsease🙁
You can't really make a thumbnail using PowerDirector but here is what you can try. Go to the frame of the video that you want to use as the thumbnail. Pull up the Text/Title tool and add the text that you want. Use your Android device to take a screen shot (usually power button + volume down button). Use your phone to crop the photo so only the thumbnail shows. Save the image to your device.

Why does my PowerDirector19 not have the "Create a Custom selection mask" option? I have tried to ensure its got all updates installed but the vertex selection tool is still not showing up
What version of PowerDirector 19 do you have? Essentials, Ultra, Ultimate, free version that came with your machine, Steam version, etc.

@@thembilove Have you checked the version on your PC? I have heard of people who upgrade from the free version who think they are using Ultra or Ultimate and it is still the free version. Right click the PowerDirector logo to see the program info. You can also go here to check what features Ultra has compared to other versions. www.cyberlink.com/products/powerdirector-video-editing-software/comparison_en_US.html
If Ultra is on your machine and you should have the feature then you should contact CyberLink support for help.
Considering the white background, I'd be inclined to chroma-key out the white so as not to need to use that mask effect as it will take too long with adjustments to the dot positions for each keyframe.
You can also use blend modes since the background is white but the intent of this tutorial is to show viewers how to create a custom mask regardless of the whether the background is white or a football stadium full of other people.
@@PDU_Tutorials I only suggested for those with earlier PD versions with masking limitations.
As it happens, I was trying to download and install Power Director 17 Ultra(My Harvey Norman store did not have PD19 available) but the effort was met with failure because the Product Key, when entered, flagged Error, incorrect, out of date or already installed. I forked out $130(Australian) with nothing to show for it and I'm chasing up Cyberlink to make good on it.
I kind of thought the same at first, but wouldn't you chroma-key anything that's white on the woman as well? For instance, her eyes.
@@Samador08 Looking at the image, the whites of her eyes(the woman in the image) don't show up, so chroma-keying the white out should work okay. And there isn't anything else on her that is white.

How do you remove a person from a video clip and then ur left with the background only. Is that possible? Instead of removing the background from a video, I want to remove a person.
It if the person is moving. If they are still you can use a mask to remove them

So I spent an hour going through all these steps to create a mask. Clicked OK and it didn't take. My clip is the raw clip with no mask. I go back into masks and can choose the mask I made but it won't stay when I click OK. Other masks work on this clip but not the one I made. Frustrating

I just spent money on the New PD and it says I can't use it because I am not connected to the internet. I am, I just downloaded it with the internet. Nobody in forums or google searches has a fix for this. Starting to think I just wasted my money. -.- Does anyone here know how to fix this??

What ever happened to motion masking with Color Director? It was so much easier using the brushes.
Not sure what you mean, did something happen to it? I haven't checked in a while but I think it is still there. Some people are experiencing bugs with it though.

@@hakanaltundag Record at the highest resolution of your camera. When you're done editing your video go to the Produce tab in PowerDirector. Select 2D, select Custom, choose the resolution and bit rate you want for the video. Select the Folder options to pick where to save the video on your PC. Select Start. Hello Ardith. You can do whatever you like. If you have a solid background of any color you can use chroma key. This tutorial is about creating a custom mask so that's what I show the user how to do. Whether the background is all white, a jungle, a busy city street, or an amusement park, this shows viewers how to use the custom mask feature.

Too tedious. You can do this in MS Paint 3D really quick by just pointing and the part of the image you want to keep. And it's FREE! Thenbjust paste back into your video.
