Hi Maliek, another good video man. Most "instructional" videos on YT are kind of stinky, but yours are consistently funny and informative. Keep up the good work, kind sir.
Maljek I have good news for you I'm going to tell you exactly how you can customize your window panes in power director. First detach the windows you want to move around In my case all I wanted was the preview window on the left. So very simple, I put my preview window on the left and the library to the right. I left the timeline exactly where it was. Now carefully align your panels so they're exactly the way you want them Hit the x in the upper right hand corner. Of course it will ask you if you want to save your changes click yes. Then I believe it asks you to name that. In my case I named it customized power director. Another great teaching! Thankyou. Not sure if I would ever need to use it, but if it came down to using or losing a scene, it would be a life saver. As for you people with the negative comments, think about what your doing with a digital zoom. Eventually, it spreads the pixels, and decreases sharpness. A lot of things in this is give and take. PDP is the least expensive, most powerful, and biggest bang for your buck. Or, go take out a "mortgage" on Final Cut Pro and take the rest of your life to learn it. Jeeesh
Thanks for this info! I am recording some long events, which my camera parses into a handful of large files/clips. Since the camera doesn't change position or even stop recording between clips, how can I apply the exact same crop/zoom from one clip into the next, or apply the same crop/zoom to multiple clips at the same time?
I came here with the same question using version 17, but I have used various other versions for years. The best workaround I have is to set the zoom to a specific percentage and lock it in with keyframes at the start and end of the clip. When I go to the next clip, I set the same percentage and line up a corner or two on something recognizable from the end of the previous clip. Would be so much easier to be able to do this by selecting multiple clips at once.

I'd like to be able to adjust the volume of the game sound vs my voice over commentary.
+PowerDirector University Yes Thank You very much. I have edited a lot of my son's hockey game videos and with the help of your tutorials they continually improve. Like Jesus M. I have started messing around with lowering the background noise and adding in my own background music. But I am a little confused on weather i should be lowering the dB from within PowerDirector or using these WaveEditors. Also having to go to each individual clip and lowering the dB manually makes me think there must be an easier way that i could reduce all the clips to the same sound level without having to do each clip at a time. Thanks Again.
Aw, Maliek, You have an updated one of these? I'm on the current version (18? essentials?), It is all sorts of different. I can't make this video work. Gave you a thumbs up anyway, because you are so good to me! keep it up, please
Thank you for the video. Do. You know how to zoom in on a PIP video? It seems that the zoom / pan tools aren't available when the video is PIP (in PD 15 Ultimate). Thanks in advance for your help.
The scale and position tools used to a PIP are the same tools that are used to zoom in or out. Use keyframes to control the zoom. You can use them to make the PIP static for a certain amount of time and then start your zoom to fill in the screen. If you need help with using keyframes watch my Hw to use keyframes video.
In effect yes. Create two keyframes, one just a few frames after the other, and zoom to your intended crop level (degree and position). Save, then delete the initial "un-cropped" element. I've tried this (PD15) and it works for me. NOTE: You WILL lose resolution, so it's best to ensure your original video source is pretty high-res. (e.g. 4K), and be as minimalist in your cropping as possible, otherwise image graininess becomes noticeable.
Go to PIP Designer and change the scale to make it larger. Then you can pan in different directions. You can also click on the clip in the preview window and use the nodes to make it larger.
Your tutorials are better than the one I paid for. I do notice that some of the 15 tutorials use some different directions than 14. Like "designer" instead of "motion". What's up?
So when you "crop" it is the same thing as Zoom? I just want to crop out a section of the video and keep the image quality the same. Instead it is still "zooming" and I am losing quality...

Thank you for the compliment. Can you provide a screen shot of your issue on the PowerDirector Users FB page or the PowerDirector Forum? That way I can see what you're referring to.
+BurnoutInc Just place your playhead right next to the last keyframe and select duplicate previous keyframe. Then drag the last keyframe to the left and drag the new keyframe to the last position. Then you can remove the keyframe that used to be the last keyframe. Basically you need to replace it then you can remove it.
