    Instead of just showing a montage of (dis)honorable mentions, it would've been handy and informative if you'd briefly summarized each game's major flaws, in the same manner as how you gave short, capsule overviews for your long list of Genesis shooters. Some games' flaws were obvious - slow movement, tiny sprites, dull concepts - but, with others, I couldn't really see their flaw.

    • @GameSack
      @GameSack  8 ปีที่แล้ว +47

      I agree. This episode came before the shooter episode though. Still I wish we didn't do a montage OR limit it to the Genesis. The reason we did is so we could be featured on www.sega-16.com and maybe get a few more eyeballs watching. I think the episode suffered as a result and should have been all-encompassing with no montage. :)

Maybe they were high that day.. they put a game there they can't even really find fault with. That's pretty poor form though as people might take their word for it and miss out on a fun game for no reason other than two guys were off their nut when reviewing it.

    I'm surprised that you guys didn't mention the special cheat code for Cosmic Carnage! I think if you hold X, B, and Y on the 6 button controller before booting the game and during the intro, you get the Japanese version of the game titled Cyber Brawl. It features 3 human characters rather than the 3 main alien characters, which is pretty cool, especially since Zena-Lan is a cute blonde (named Ray) in the JP release.

  • @GameSack

    We always let the game play at full volume for a bit before switching to the next game. Sometimes if a soundtrack is particularly good (or bad) we will stop and let people listen to a different musical section that is shown before we flip to the next game.

    Yeah I don't even know why we have a montage in this episode. It's basically filler and we were stretching to find games to include. Don't take the montage in this episode too seriously. Many of the games in it have some redeemable value. Not all, though.

    Well, the reason why April was a playable character in the Mega Drive version of Tournament Fighters is because Splinter trained her in martial arts in the TMNT comic by Archie.
    Also, you don't fight Bebop and Rocksteady in the SNES version, since they only make background cameos.

    Jewel Master is a fantastic game that could have been Sega's Castlevania. I disagree with that 😤

    I'd rather have games released here as well, no matter how bad they are. Even if I don't enjoy it, someone else might.

    Earnest Evans, really? I just got it on CD and I've really been enjoying it. I haven't encountered any of the glitches you mentioned. I'm a sucker for Wolfteam games, though. Oh well.

    TMNT Tournament Fighters for Genesis is one of my favorite games; I played it religiously as a teenager.

    The reason for wearing less armour in Cosmic Carnage is that it changes your special attacks. If you wear lots of armour as the girl, for example, you get a short ranged electric attack. If you wear very little, then you get an insane Hokuto No Ken turbo punch that charges up a long ranged fireball.

    I'll have to take you to task on that final montage of "bad" games. Many of them were arcade ports released in the early years of the Genesis by then unknown developers and publishers (Seismic, Treco, etc.) and they weren't *all* that bad. The boxing game was an arcade port of Taito's Final Blow.

    You used Revenge of Shinobi's Chinatown tune! Awesome! Rwminds me of those days where I try (and failed) to get out of the Labyrinth before the boss...

    Was this game made in Japan? I was always under the impression that Activision made it. If it is Japanese in origin, then it definitely qualifies.

    Micronet actually had an ad campaign that claimed that Heavy Nova was sold out in every store in the country (or something to that effect), but were quick to assure us that new copies were on their way. I assumed that the game sucked after reading that.
