The end of this video really need some Survivor's Eye of The Tiger music in it. Great episode guys. That Two Towers beat em up is really fun
hi metal jesus from the past
We will! Console episodes take a lot of time and energy but we love doing them and the audience seems to like them so yes we will definitely due more single console-dedicated shows.
Do the due
You guys have the best production value of any gaming channel around. Keep up the good work!
Donkey Kong '94 is a really overlooked gem, it starts as a remake of the original Donkey Kong on the gameboy, but after beating the original arcade levels, an bunch of new levels open, and the style is different from the arcade Donkey Kong.
It works with Super Gameboy so there is color, and i feel like a lot of people ignore it because when they start playing it, they assume it is just a remake not knowing there is a completely new game in a different style after beating the first levels.
"Did somebody say overlooked gems?"
I wish there was one more generation of 2D games before the 3D generations took over! Imagine how awesome the 2D games might have been! Sega Genesis and SNES we're great but imagine a 32 bit generation of nothing but amazing platformers!!!! Then 3D could've taken over afterwards!!
Well there are many great 2d games on the PS1 and the Saturn got great looking 2d games as well. However with the SS these games are in a high-price range these days.
These dudes got the SACK to back it up! 🤣😂💯🇺🇸🔥
Quackshot rules! That, castle & world of illusion are some of my favorite non Shining Sega Genesis games.
I don't comment on your videos anywhere near as much as I ought to. You guys are awesome, and I love your reviewing style!
You don't fanboy over games very often, and you give the good points as well as the bad points of the games you show. Both of these are major pluses in my book.
Keep up the great work, and thanks for giving Tomba some love!
that is how every power pad session went when i was a kid
i was hoping you guys could cover games on MSX systems..
Penguin Adventure was a childhood favourite.. also was ported to the Sega Master system..
I have played Metal Stoker. It's cool and weird. Maybe a bit repetitive? I'll have to try again as maybe I'm thinking of something else.
No more than, say, Mercs reminds us of Elemental Master.
I always thought return of the king was the better game, I remember me and my buddy staying up all night to beat that game co-op when it first came out, it was tons of fun.
I've got an idea for a completely original game review show! I'm gonna call it "The Angry Video Game Sack"
Damn dude Beyond Shadowgate looked absolutely amazing visually and pretty funny too, Honestly never even knew about it til just now.
Granada, never heard of before but seemed like a neat ass shoot em up adventure kinda game, definitely digging it.
Wish that they kept Black Belt based around Fist of the North Star though since that series is pretty amazing, the newer game on PS3/360/Wii U is cool as hell too if you ever get the chance to check em out
Tomba deserves more love from Sony, it rocks
you guys are awesome! you make me realise how many great games i missed in my childhood. it is like taking a trip back into the good old times and then realise that these times were even better than you imagined!
Beyond Shadowgate looks so goddamn good. Why couldn't this be released for a more mainstream console like the Genesis/SegaCD or SNES. Heck. A Saturn/PSX "remake" would've been awesome :(
I've seen this episode probably ten times and I just now noticed Jen is on the couch during the sketch at the end.... so I guess you could say she's a bit of a "Hidden Jen" :|
Beyond Shadowgate is going for $900! holy cow. good luck finding that one at a decent price!
It is? Wow. Glad I got mine a few years ago from a friend for a much better price.
Game Sack I care about old black and white games. aand i like kirby and im not to young im 13 and stop making me cringe. plz. thx.
+Vinescringus Blueshroom
Oh, then I can see why you use the word "cringe".
I really feel that one of the most overlooked game series is Onimusha. It's one of the best game series Capcom have created. I feel it's really worth mentioning.
That's the game series that I never got around to playing.
i only ever played the 3rd one but i loved it
I completely agree. Onimusha 1 was the first game that got me hooked after a long time of not feeling gaming that much anymore. This series should be continued.
that's probably the best one
nohomers100 The first is the best but the third comes a close second.
Quack shot is one of my favorite Genesis games. I hope it’s on the Genesis mini.
Can't agree with quackshot only having a few good songs, the snow stage, viking stage, final level, final boss music, minecart music, boss music, some of it was ok but most of it was good.
you guys are amazing, i simply cannot state enough how perfect of a channel this is. always so informative and timely! thanks guys!
Over looked gems Star Gladiator for the Playstation and Plasma Sword for the Dreamcast also Tech Romancer was another hidden gem...
man you sure do love your shooters don't you joe. Thumbs up on the two towers and tomba dave
And you're welcome to that opinion just as long as you understand that it's OK if others don't feel the same.
i think that you two are the most elaborate retro show out there!
By far the best retro videogame show on youtube, thanks so much for all the heart and creativity that you guys put in every video !!!! Greetings from South America, Chile !!!!
It's only a step in my non-stop goal to replicate the cartridge insert of an old US SMS commercial from long ago. That commercial has influenced most of my game-insert sequences.
You should. Even jumping with the UP button feels natural. Probably because you don't have to do it often. And thanks for the kind comments!
Sorry to disappoint you. We are sad and will commit suicide within the next 2 or 3 days when we get some free time.
Kirby's Block Ball was my first ever Gameboy game I owned when my parents bought my OG Gameboy back in the day. I haven't talked to anyone else who has played it, definitely a great game from my childhood.
Because it's fun AND challenging. It's probably not for everyone but it sure clicks with me.
Who says adults don't know how to have fun? You two on that pad with Jen behind you looking like she was shouting encouragement is awesome. Like in that great Cindi Lauper song, which I just butchered:
I wake up in the morning light
My wifey yells, "When you gonna live your life right?"
Oh wifey dear we're not the fortunate ones
And gamers, they wanna have fun
Oh gamers just want to have fun
The game roars in the middle of the night
My daughter yells, "What you gonna do with your life?"
Oh daughter dear, you know you're still number one
But gamers, they wanna have fun
Oh gamers just want to have
That's all they really want
Some fun
When the working day is done
Oh gamers, they wanna have fun
Oh gamers just wanna have fun (gamers, they wanna, wanna have fun, gamers wanna have)
Some gamesters take a wonderful game
And hide away from the rest of the world
I want to be the one to play in the dungeon
Oh gamers, they wanna have fun
Oh gamers just wanna have
That's all…
Thank you to Cyndi Luaper and Game Sack for the inspiration.
A LOT. And not ashamed to admit it. Music from new games can be great, too!
I remember playing Tombi(Tomba in US) demo over and over :)
That sucks! Unsubscribe and resubscribe and see if that fixes it.
Tomba! is one of my favorite games of all time, sucks that it is so damn expensive now. I'd love to have a copy.
Quackshot is one of my favorite games ever, I still play it 20 years after I first got it.
Throughout my day I just say random numbers followed with a
A MEGA POWER
I have a complete copy of Tomba. I really thought I'd like it because I love 2.5D games, but it mostly just pisses me off. It's so slow, the movement physics is (are?) all screwed up, and the endlessly respawning enemies wear out their welcome very fast. Definitely not worth the money it goes for these days.
I have two copies of Shinobi Legions. It's pretty fun. Even on a second playthrough I was still discovering new abilities Sho has. The best part is definitely the cutscenes, though. Even my wife loves them.
Hey, if tomba pisses you off, I'll gladly take it off of your hands for free :V
@@shreyasnayak728 A tempting offer, to be sure
Thanks for noticing!
Quack Shot is one of my favourite Mega Drive games, a must play for anyone who loves platformers.
So glad to see you guys included The two towers. Love that game and it went highly unappreciated.
I just realized that Quackshot is basically Donald Duck Metroid. Maybe that's why I love it so much.
ha! great video. If you have it, I'd reccomend Arcus Oddissey, I haven't heard many folk cite it but it was a pretty innovative game for the time. Cinematics, isometric perspective, action-rpg elements, 4 characters to pick, and companions to join you and change your fighting abilities. I loved the HELL out of the game as a kid. :) Oh and love how when you guys are running on the powerpad, she's laying there totally enjoying the view.. heheheh
Lmao, poor Dave, that was a legit chop to the trap I bet that hurt a bit. Love you Joe, ya big meanie.
all these games are not overlooked. it is just that they are so rare that nobody knows them :/
This world needs more mature dudes stamping frantically to a video game.
Who hates 3D? Just because 3D games don't age as well as 2D games does not in anyway imply that we hate 3D games.
Oh come on Guys, You improved very much from your first videos in voice acting. Now You`re proper presenter quality :) greetings from Poland :)
Tonba 2 is even great.
The music in a Lord of The Rings game means a LOT. I noticed because I'm playing LotR War in the North right now and it has none of the tracks from the movie, which is a huge bummer.
I never realized until now the intro was biohazard battle thank you
Dave might have that one. I think that I suggested he cover it in one of our recent episodes (can't remember which). He refused and instead covered a boring game. :)
It's from Legend of Heroes Dragon Slayer 2 or some oddly-named game like that on the PC Engine CD. No clue if the track even has a name or not as I took it straight from the game disc.
i still have my disc of tomba and hearing that it is now a cult classic makes me feel lucky to have bought it when i did
UGH can we please get some more unheralded jewels plz?
Black Belt looks like Kung Fu, only better and on the Master System.
"These same developers would go on to make stuff like Tales of Phantasia".....and Earnest Evans *shudder*
The amount of times I’ve laughed from Joe and Daves antics has been many. Many times. I miss the old sacks.
Thanks!
Great video, really want to play Beyond Shadowgate, Shinobi Legions & Granada.
Yep!
I feel like the first Shantae got overloked
+Portal Fan (GLaDOS) Probably, but I feel it hasn't aged well.
Its obvious that you are massive console gamers, so I doubt my overlooked "Gems" will ever appear... But going to mention them anyway...
PARADROID '90 (Amiga) and NEBULUS (More or less ANY SYSTEM... CPC was AMAZING but far surpassed by the 16 Bit Computers) - 2.5d In effect long before it was ever actually heard of in my view on that one...
Yes there is a Flash Remake, but its no patch on the original...
I'm definitely going to have to check out Elemental Masters, it seems like such a cool "concept" of sorts! I remember getting frustrated by the demo of Tomba! that I got with my PlayStation, maybe I was too dumb and didn't realize the multi-dimension thingy
Daym I love this channel. Thanks for the excellent videos
ah, that music at the start of playing tomba...good memories
The episode coming in 2 weeks will be awesome. At least we think so. :)
Totally awesome episode!
I don't see why so many Fist of the North Star games were altered for North America, you'd think Americans would go nuts for that series. I mean, it's pure action, Mad Max with kung fu and exploding heads, who wouldn't like that?
I still say Earthworm Jim is a somewhat under appreciated game, or at least the second one is.
Enjoyed the video, you got a legit laugh out of me when Dave's hand caught on fire.
Chris, did anyone ever tell you that you look just like Morgan Page? Watch Morgan Page - Fight For You on TH-cam. He's the guy that appears, not the girl (obviously).
A friend of mine had Quack Shot which I remember fondly and another firend had World of Illlusion. I never played Castle of Illusion but I played the hell out of World of Illusion. I took issue when Dave said World of Illusion was easy in a previous episode, it took us many attempts to finish, but we were like 7 years old so yeah, that might have been why.
I prefer track and field 2000 on ps1. Better graphics, more events, same mayhen. I was expecting to see daigaso band brothers for the nds on the list, but bummer, it wasn't included.
We explained why it's fun. Thanks for watching!
GRANADA! I loved that one! Best music ever!
OH man I love those games. Especially Decathlete.
Holy crap! Granada! I used to love that game, but somehow I ended up COMPLETELY forgetting about it. (Maybe my memory of it got smushed together with my memory of Assault or something…) Also, I loved Black Belt as a kid. I always thought it was creative (and a bit crazy) how the bodies of the enemies would explode in such a ridiculous way. It all finally made sense many years later when I learned that it was originally a Fist of the North Star game. Finally, Kirby's Block Ball and Elemental Master look pretty fun. Thanks for the introduction, guys! :)
Wait, who thinks there are no good sports videogames? Where did that come from? You're kidding, right?
Hybrid Heaven, I meant Hybrid Heaven!
Another overlooked gem is Tiny Toon Adventures Buster’s Hidden Treasure which is very good and yes it’s. Sonic clone but it’s distinctive enough due to the license and each level has its own over world map which is reminiscent of the Mario games and captures the humour from the cartoon. It’s a game that nobody talks about and is still very cheap.
That ending. Power Pad games tend to do this with people, as well as Wii motion games.
When replaying Tomba I found that Tomba 2 the sequel which I feel was far more overlooked. It never got an official guide and it's only in JP on the PSN store. But I'll be honest I think the reason I prefer it is based partially on nostalgia. Even though I played both games as a kid I guess I just have better memories of the second one, I still remember what to today! The end of the episode was the best part imo, you were both acting like little kids. I'm sure someone won't realize it's a joke, lol.
There were only 2 games that I hated fighting all of the bosses over again at the end.
Mega Man X7 [the most irritating Mega Man boss battles ever. MUTE THE SOUND ]
and Illusion of Gaia [ the mummy queen is a real bitch ]
Lmao! The ending was hilarious! These guys are like two big kids talking about what they love without being completely biased even though they are each fanboys to a degree. I'm glad I subbed, keep'em coming guys. Plan on doing more recent consoles?
17:40 What an amateurish way to hammer the buttons in Track'n Field!
A far superior way is to hold it on the topside and rest your thumb on the square button as firmly as possible without actually pushing the button. Then rest your other thumb on the circle button and 'vibrate' as fast as you can while the other hand merely cradles the pad.
Done correctly the game with flash a "using trick ?" message and you will melt buttons and records. Not even kidding, the buttons become soft and disfigured because of the friction.
Starts off with the music from Stage 2 of Bio Hazard Battle! :D If you do another one of these, I'd nominate Ranger-X. It was a pretty sweet platform shooter with a decent amount of variety and some interesting mechanics.
You guys should take a look at New International Track & Field on the DS. It's got cartoonish characters and you can even unlock various Konami characters like Simon Belmont, Sparkster and Pyramid Head!
I think another overlooked game is Grandia. It was supposed to be Game Arts' (the developer of Lunar) answer to FFVII, but the Saturn version never made it over here. It also suffered from a relative lack of advertising.
Epic ending there
Krusty's Super Fun House is an overlooked Gem. You get to lead rats to their deaths. Probably the only decent Simpson's game back in the 8 and 16 bit days.
LotR TT is a fantastic game. Got it on PS2
Got Tomba on PS3. Never played it back in the day but playing it much later makes me miss the PS1 days.
Beyond Shadowgate is by far the best in the series and barely anyobe knows it exists because it's locked away on the TurboGrafx-CD.
I would argue the PS2 Shinobi is also overlooked, since I was able to buy it for three bucks...Awesome game, but hard as fuck.
Most underrated gemes imho:
- Lickle/Little Samson (NES)
- Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy (ps2/gc/xbox)

Boy, I've had it wrong all these years. I love sports games, enjoyed them, had fun. And now I find out that sports games aren't fun :(
Android Assault on the Sega CD. Great shoot 'em up with Glam Metal style rock.
Dragon Force. Very addicting strategy game for Sega Saturn where can control various Kings or Emperors to conquer the continent.
Colony Wars: Red Sun. Probably the best of the Colony Wars games on the PSX. You play as a mercenary, go on various missions, get money and upgrade your ship. The music is spectacular as well.
Shining The Holy Ark for Saturn. Dated graphics but stellar gameplay. Music by Motoi Sakuraba.
