One story I remember about the muscle car era in America was this: Someone wanted a 1969 Station wagon with a 427 -4 speed. The dealer said there was no option for that. He called the factory, and the factory replied, "YES, we can do that for him." That was when America was truly awesome!!!
Hi Patrick. This Chevelle in the pinnacle of Chevrolet Performance of American Muscle. Great Job Patrick of giving us a great video. Great Color Combination . Thank you. Have a great labor day Patrick to you and your family
I'm not a Chevy guy but this is probably one of the Holy Grail muscle cars in my opinion. This car is my 95 year old dad's absolute favorite car. What I wouldn't give to have a time machine and a big bag of money, this is one that I would buy for sure! Thanks Patrick.
Had a 70 LS6 4 speed 4:10 rear, ran it at English Town raceway back in 1978 she ran 13:60s it was the fastest car that I owned. Today I have a 2007 Shelby gt, she runs 13:40s . I have thought about selling it to buy a 70 Chevrolet Chevelle but the wife says noooo.
In the mid 70's the girl next door was dating a guy with a 70 SS. Cranberry red, 454, tan interior, muncie. Looked like the brochure cover car. He beat the living snot out of that car. Burn outs and speeding around all over town. Decades later I spoke with him. He had nothing but regrets for what he did to that car. Of course he wished he still had it. Before the 70, he had a 69 SS396, beat that one to death also. Boy o boy were those the day!
Swiss trax flooring, Prevost piping, Levrack benches, Sonic cabinets, and Milwaukee power tools The owner of this car must be an Obsessed Garage fan. 👍🏻 great taste! Looks fantastic!
Real nice video, As young guy in the 1970s. I knew the owner of a body shop then, that bought used cars and fix a few dents and then painted every single car that exact chevy cranberry color red and he'd put them for sale. The cars would sell the next day no matter the combination interior wise. He then found that color to attract attention to other cars.. on used vettes, too. Metalic blue was big too on some cars and that red on others. He had a rear lot that couldn't be seen from any road view and only parked 2 gems out front. Everything from imports, muscle, sports, and station wagons to vans. Busy, busy, busy car lot / body shop. I wonder if that would work in today's market.
Again, never was a gm fan, except for a '70 Chevelle. And I've only ever owned 2 gm vehicles, only 1 was ever tagged. In '71 near Gallatin MO this cars twin-minus console-was totaled by the insurance company. And it was severely destroyed. As a 15 year old I convinced my dad into letting me buy it from the insurance company for the engine and transmission. We soon moved back to my hometown and I dropped them into the '60 Impala, black, 2 door hardtop, bench seat that was mint throughout. That car was assumed to be a 396 by everyone and I never agreed nor disagreed with anyone. I smoked everything I pulled up against, even a '70 LS6 that traveled from KC to beat a '60 with a 396 that couldn't be beat. Was 1 of 3 cars I never should of sold, and didn't need to sell, but did. Fine car you've verified, hope it stays with someone that appreciates it more than an investment.
@@TostieTH-cam that is right, I'm saying, the guy that kept the build sheet, may have done it so he could charge an arm and a leg for it,when someone came asking about it.Some collectors really want paper work, and will pay for it too.

Gorgeous. My build sheet was above the gas tank. great shape for being there over 50 years. Showed how the car was cared for that no one needed to drop the tank. Its a driver :)
@Patrick, what is your estimate of the number of 1970 LS5 cars that still retain their original engine, transmission and rear end? FYI, you've actually laid under my car at a large show in southern KY a few years ago. 😁👍
Hey Patrick , good to see you still finding these things. I spoke with you a few years ago about a 66 chevelle ss396 375hp. Also in Chicagoland. It was actually in Illinois Indiana state line. Like right on state line. I really wished I was able to introduce you to him. I moved to North Dakota. I still think sometimes though if I ever go back to visit , I will find him. His family owned a Chevy dealership and the dad ordered that car and it is preserved in mint condition. He also has the very last camaro z28 the rolled off the assembly line. Before they came back in what 09 or 2010. Still with the plastic on the seats. Never touched from off the delivery truck. Anyways if you’re still doing this I hope to one day get you to see this car.
Mr. Nichols - Huge fan of your channel; growing up my Dad had a 70 SS green with a 4 speed / 402. Question for you - was this exact car ever made but in a convertible? I.E. Cranberry Red LS6 ragtop? Thanks again if you get a moment to answer me. I'm 50 - I do remember riding in Dad's 70 SS when I was little (just remember him doing donuts in a Big Bear parking lot - old grocery store in the midwest).
Great car. I'm surprised a November casted rear end is correct for an April built car? That is the farthest date spread I've personally heard of. I figure if it was an issue Patrick would of pointed it out??
Can't help but think of Jack Reacher whenever I see a red 70 Chevelle SS with a 4 speed and black interior. This car looks so much like the one from the movie

Very nice LS6 Patrick! A true survivor. Love the cranberry red... Always nice surprise when you upload a new video!

My favorite colors on the Chevelle are blue with black stripes,or tuxedo black.
The owner that kept the original build sheet, was smart, and absolutely kept it,because he knew its worth thousands now,to the right collector
He kept the build sheet and not the car - that makes a lot of sense
