about beating the same games over, for me its like...you spend so much time practicing, memorizing and getting good at a game, then when you beat it its over. its fun to go back in and beat it again and totally master the game. beat it using less continues,lives etc, beating it faster. its fun playing through difficult games and totally owning them.
I like the soundtrack of this game even more than the NES version.
Some real gems in here.
I came to make to exact same comment. Gotham City Streets 2 (Batmobile stage) is one of my favourite Mega Drive tracks.

TOP TIP!
You can defeat enemies by jumping on their heads. The trick is to double-jump over them, but remembering to NOT land directly on them. An arc, vs a sharp angle, if that makes sense. Try it out.

What's the best Batman movie? For me it's Batman returns with Michael Keaton, Danny deVito, Christopher Walken and Michelle Pfeiffer.

This version of the game is bad ass. I love the 89 movie. It’s my favourite Batman movie ever. The memorabilia from this movie is so expensive now.

Mike's Joker character is one of the funniest characters from AVGN.
Along with Kevin Finns Ninja Master and Glitch Gremlin.

I played this like crazy as a kid. Never beat it, though. One of the best soundtracks of any game ever.

Arkahm Origins is as good as City imo, Knight kinda falls behind but still cool. My major complain about Arkham Knight is that some missions force you to use the Batmobile because apparently Rocksteady knew it was not going to be as fast (or fun) as moving around with the grappling hook and gliding.

Ah, that other batman game no one talks about because they seemingly prefer the NES batman games. This one is pretty faithful to the movie althought it came out much later. The batmobile and batplane levels were great.

Sunsoft also made a superman game for the genesis. Btw, what about adventures of batman and robin for the SNES? It's one of the best batman games BEFORE arkham asylum, with it's only flaw being that shitty batmobile level.
Adventures is an awesome game. Boss rush at the end before the joker. I think mikes streamed it before

I've got that Superman game. I love and have been playing it for about a year now. Got a turbo controller thinking that's what I needed to beat it. Still ain't beat it yet. That last section the difficulty goes through the roof.
mitu123Copper there is also a Superman game by sun soft for the NES. It wasn’t finished, but a prototype was finished that was renamed Sunman. A hacker changed sprites to turn Sunman into superman so that it is playable as superman game.

I was so into these games back in the day.
This one felt so solid and methodically Batman. Plus that music.
Returns was gritty/creepy like the film. Plus I loved the utility belt option.
Beat em both too after putting in a lot of effort.

I remember buying this for my 12th birthday. It was such a great game, but I beat it it a few days later.
Mike mentioned the Toy Biz Batman action figures. My mom went to Toys R Us everyday and looked for those for our Christmas that year. She finally lucked out and went in one day where they had opened shipping boxes of them out for people to pick through. She grabbed two of the Batman and Joker each for my brother and I. Years later I asked her why two of each? She said because my brother always acted like if he lost a gun or weapon for the toy then the whole toy was worthless, so she bought us each a spare. Crazy part is I found out later one of the most valuable of those figures is Bob the Goon because no one bought him, hence he is harder to find.

I was hoping this was a Sega port of the arcade game. Damn
Spider man belongs with the wonder twins. He has never stood a chance in marvel universe. He's always been spider boy. His enemies could floss their ass with him.

One game that I enjoyed(first played it on the Wii, but then got a cartridge) is Wario's Woods. It's unique when compared to Yoshi/Yoshi's Cookie/Tetris/Dr. Mario because the "story mode" actually has unique boss battles at like every 10th level(you also collect coins at the ends of the levels to get extra lives, there are a variety of colors to match, and there are a variety of enemies that all require different strategies to tackle).
This was a great stream on Twitch. I missed you beat it though cause I was poopin’ when you were fighting the Joker. lol

Mike, I have to say you really seem to enjoy streaming these games. I'm 30, but I got into gaming relatively late. These older games can be pretty hard. It's nice to see that you can enjoy it.
My favorite game! I beat it 100 times and i know how to get 99 batarangs in few levels, and if you didn't die through whole game, then you can take those batarangs to every boss, and defeat them in no time!
The best Joker was Cesar Romero. End of story xD
Genesis was better than Snes. The sports games put them over the top. I dont even like real sports, but the video game versions I loved. Dont misunderstand me. I love Nintendo. Nintendo are the best overall at innovation. Sega Genesis was more fun to play and I owned both Genesis/Snes at the same time. Super Metroid was my fav on snes and Robocop vs Terminator for Genesis. Joe Montana sports talk football for Genesis was awesome too.
Ha, the Axis Chemical level music kind of sounds like a mix between NES Gremlins 2's stage 3 (Clamp Center) music and parts of Castlevania 3's Beginning. But mostly Gremlins 2.

Then there was a Batwing made by Kenner in 1990. I'm not sure which one you're looking for but I am unaware of one that would have gone for $500 during that period.
Lol, I think it would be nice to see movies that actually give justice to Riddler, Two Face, Poison Ivy, and Mr Freeze. Batman Forever/Batman and Robin were barf fests. Love the Tim Burton films though.

It’s OK I suppose. I beat it back in the day, but playing it now it really feels clunky and kind of a pain in the ass. Great graphics of course.

Hey Mike, have you ever played Spider Man and the X- Men in Arcades Revenge on the SNES? It was made ny LJN. I had it as a kid and it certainly wasn't the easiest game to beat. But I eventually did beat it, a few times actually, and in my opinion it's a decent game.
Oh yeah and it has some kick-ass music, too. Nobody can deny that about the game!
That might actually be the one and only decent LJN game. I say decent cause I still believe xmen arcade to be the absolute best and thats what should have a got a snes port. Arcades revenge was hard as hell but I did like it. Never beat it though.

I kinda put the nes batman version in the same catagory as ninja gaiden. Not as crazy action as gaiden but it's very good game

If you're streaming Batman Returns games in the future, play the Sega Master System version too! Good game, but gets mentioned way too little for some reason. Good for two playthroughs as well, thanks to majority of the levels having an option between an easier and harder route (i.e. completely different levels).
Edit: uh, you don't look through the manual before playing games you haven't played before? You really should, since quite a lot of games don't have hand-holding tutorials to explain the moves required.
Mike, give the C64 version of this game a try, it even had some extra features and the music is awesome too!

Color scheme was a bit lazy. The mimes wore black and white so they could get away with being mostly black. But the Jokers other goons were all wearing purple jackets in the movie.

The Batmobile was absolutely implemented horribly in Arkham Knight. Should have been nothing more then a means of transportation for those who wanted to use it, and maybe a couple specific missions where it had to be used. As is it's just way too much. All of the Riddler race tracks or whatever the hell they were are a joke, and an even bigger joke was fighting Deathstroke in a tank. The Batmobile totally kills that game's replay value.
