definitely , notice how A Nightmare on elm street has the same Boss (defeated) sound as Battletoads
I'm a fan of this game.
It's flawed, but it's pretty fun when you know what you're doing.

It's hardly flawed, as there are only few programming errors that don't interfere with the game.
One such flaw is the corner error where you can't grab bones in wall/ceiling corners in the track and field javelin costume.
Other than that, I don't know of any other actual flaws the game has.
Can you let us know what all flaws you think there are?
It's an awesome game, it's developed by rare and David wise composed all the music for it, and he is awesome.
It's my favorite NES game.

People said this is a bad game, but, if you figure out the cryptic nature of the game, is one of the best of LJN and it's awesome to play with friends.

Friday the 13th also rules when you know how to play. You can beat it in 5 mins with a single counselor across all three days.
This was one of my favorite games as a kid. It was like PG horror for me. Eventhough I was watching Hellraiser at 5 years old...

So I often leave Mike's live streams playing in the background while I'm working, cleaning, etc. And sometimes randomly Mike shouts FUCK YOU like at 29:33. Helps keep things interesting.
Here's a tip.
You don't need to go out of the way to get every dream token you see.
Once you've gotten the athlete, ninja, and wizard tokens for the first time, you have them forever.

I'm also pretty sure that the order of the first 3 houses is randomized each game. That was one of the most confusing things about this game as a kid.
I thought that was obvious, it's a four player game, that's why there's multiple of them throughout the game.
@Mike Matei there was someone on youtube who beat the boss with the power glove. I've beaten a number of games with it.
Someone recently legit beat super mario bros 3 with it. Give it a shot with this game, no fucking excuses.
The hand fight is from Nightmare 4; when Alice’s brother, who’s shown a as a martial artist, fights an invisible Freddy in an dojo; the glove flies on its own to kill him, hence fighting a glove in a Kung fu gee. Could also be vaguely referencing the second movie...since it’s the only movie with a male lead

Mike - The game DOES refill your health after each level. Essentially it's four hits and then you die, but it resets the counter in addition to giving you that 1up when you get the key.

My favorite game, i never thought it was bad or broken it was great
There are programming errors, you can't get bones in corners with the track star costume due to the hitbox collision, you have to be in normal mode or use a different costume like wizard or ninja.
I loved this game as a kid. Awesome.
This is a party game, get some beers and play it 4 people, man is it fun, you will laugh n scream at eachother, good times, good times...

The movie would always have a primary antagonist, but funny how the movie adapted game would always have these random obscure enemies. Gotta love the 8-bit generation!
Yeah, they REALLY had not yet come to terms even in the late '80s with the fact that these weren't coin-op games and nobody was making more money by making the games so tremendously difficult that you had to pump an endless number of quarters into them to even have a hope of beating them.

That Nightmare on Elm Street for the NES theme, IMO almost sounds like it's gonna start playing an 8-bit version of the OSW Review theme.

This game as a VR mode and new camera angle, varied teenagers...more power-ups and varied Freddy skins omg

This and Friday 13th are classic NES games in my opinion. I can only imagine how scary they used to be for kids back in the 80s.
Glad to see you play this. Under appreciated game. Remember playing this almost 30 years ago. Where did the time go? Really good soundtrack, it really sets the tone of the game. I'd like to see you play Guardian Legend or Gun Nac.

The whole game is a dream if you ask me. The punching and killing GIANT MICE,knives shooting out the walls,giant spiders and levitating platforms etc. When you "go to sleep" you enter an alternative dream and vice versa.
With the screaming and him living in an apartment it reminds me of that story that Nick Swardson told about how his neighbor thought that he was shooting gay porn because of all the screaming, profanity and banging around

It's like reading a book and seeing how many pages are left....I see Mike about to beat a game, and then I mouse over the video to see runtime remaining....and I just laugh, anticipating the frustration to come.

One of the gems I didn't really play during childhood that I discovered when I started collecting ~5 years ago, it's really a great game and realizing this is made by RARE makes a lot of sense to me. I play this once at least every October. Thank you Mike for completing so many NES games, also the fact that your skill level is as good as mine helps a lot, I just cringe when people plays poorly so I enjoy watching your streams. Keep up the good work.
I don't know why but this game gives me a Simon's Quest vibe. This looks fun!

@@justintahair9119 That seems to be one of the biggest complaints against Simon's Quest. But I agree with you, exploring it is fun and it has the best music of any of the three games on NES in my opinion. 😁

Very tough game, have managed to have beaten it once many moons ago. But congrats Mike, very clutch in beating it with the last life left. Was nervous for you bro. This along with Friday the 13th are both very difficult games to beat.
Robert Weatherford Friday the 13th is way harder imo. But you can find a good strategy guide online now to make it a bit easier. Like getting the pitchfork and Jason moms sweater. But fighting Jason the third time is insane. He moves so fast.

Totally agree the 3rd day is very crazy and usually will try to fight him on the trails on the 3rd day. Won't fair too well against him in the cabins on the last day.

Yes it's a good strategy to use IMO because Jason is so irratic day 3 in the cabins. Make sure you have the torch or the pitch fork and some back up energy and try to also make sure the children are all alive beginning day 3 and slam Jason every chance you get on the trails and when he runs away keep following him and you can usually rebattle him multiple times. Know it sounds bad but I usually won't save the kids on last because it's bedlam in the cabins and want to not die myself lol.
Robert Weatherford Lol yeah screw the kids on the last day. It’s all about beating Jason that day. He’s tougher than Mike Tyson the third time. There are 3 distinct patterns Jason runs around the trails, I guess if you figure out which one he would be easy to find and fight on the trails. Thanks so much for the tips!
Played this on my snes mini the other day and gremlins. Both were pukka in the day, now not so much.

That’s part of the reason I’m a fan of horror movies and some of the NES games that are considered bad, my mom would take me to rent games or movies when I stayed home sick from school. They’re good memories.
