Holy snuff ... I fixed my '96 Subaru's brakes ... it had been sitting 40ish days and the brake cylinder seized up it seems, but as a result of doing all this stuff, I'm also now comfortable changing out the pads in the future. Just basically made $300 and who knows how much more on brake service. Incredible. YT rocks, many thanks ! :)
Great video, I don't have much experience with cars so I though that I could retract the piston the same way I would by turning the pistons. Didn't realize you were suppose to do it by pushing it in.
if i have seen that correct, you are just jacking up one wheel. which gear the car is in during a rotor replacement? neutral, 1st gear? i am asking to find out, if the jacked up wheel can be turned in order to set up the e-brake inside the rotor, when the car is in first gear (manual transmission)? thx
Disclaimer...be sure to "bed" your brakes. Perfect timing...video doesn't drag on and on. Think ya kind of went a bit excess on the grease coverage area.

Thank you very much - I just replaced pads on my Impreza after looking at your video, and it went flawlessly! Great video!
+Alexander Zlatkovski Awesome! Glad to help cheers
This is by far best video and super convenient! Less than 3 mins! You sir are a pro!!! 👏🏼
Great tutorial! Explained so well that I'm excited to change my own brakes now! Thanks!
awesome - did it myself thanks to you
Excellent video, I did it myself and still alive after the bedding part lol thank you everything went well
one thing which could be also checked is the free and smooth movement of the caliper guide pins.
And lube
cool! exact model of car I will work on! We live with dirt roads I can't believe how clean the underside of your car is!! Thank you.
I really needed you to go over the shim situation, bro

I thought it would be the same way as my 240sx
Pat W You are correct. Some cars require the piston to be turned. But no need on this Subaru. Just push in the piston and that"s it.
8 years later, thanks allot my friend ;) very helpful
Thanks for giving all the torque numbers!
+Aaron Cook Sure man. Glad to help.
Dear Sir. Your video and techniques are very clean and simple. Thank you so much.
Thank you. I'm glad they can help you.
I was wondering if this would work for a 2011 wrx? I'm sure it's the same process but was wondering if it was the same torque specs?
Congrats on making such a great video! Very detailed and informative.
Marcos Sanchez Thanks man.
Hi, nice video Sir. Is it okay not to bleed it after you change the brake pads? Also do you have a video on how to change the rear rotor please.
Hi Kirk. No need to bleed due to no air entered the brake system. I do have a rear rotor video. Just search under my page or my website. Cheers.

Take the brake slides out of the boots and grease those
Thank you, this was very helpful!
hybr1dmyl Glad to help! Cheers
Very detailed! Thank you so much!
JinHo Mui Welcome
Great Video! Changed both rear pads in my '12 Impreza in about 90 minutes thanks to your helpful video.
Good stuff! Glad to help.
Not sure if you said it, but make sure people know to have the parking brake off.
@Suhh Cuhh because you won't get the rotor off with it on.
You just saved me $661.00 usa
So, if I need to replace the rotor too, I just remove the caliper mounting bracket in addition to these steps and that's it?
iiDefied Pretty much. I'll actually have a video for that most likely by tomorrow.
CarsNToys Ok. I'll wait for that.
Thanks you for this tutorial
Thank you .
Welcome

is this the same as the front?

you're awesome!
+Burt Macklin Glad to help. cheers
you can just loosen one bolt on the caliber and take one completely out and now it’s on a swivel
Greece on the back of the pad?...why?
Caliper clips/pins are probably seized. Haven’t seen him take it out. Maybe it’s not important but idk why techs do it then (trust me, I am one)
Why the fuck is it so hard to get my rear pad in like I’m wedging it in there? It does NOT move freely
Запрессовывал поршня старыми колодками:)))
