  • Join me on another exciting snowmobile logging adventure in the Arctic wilderness! We'll be using a Yamaha Viking snowmobile and a Husqvarna 550XP chainsaw to thin the forest and collect firewood. This unique experience will showcase the power and efficiency of these machines as we work our way through the snow-covered trees. Get a front-row seat to the challenge and beauty of arctic logging.
    It is not all smooth running, I break through the deep snow and get so very stuck and have to spend a day just digging myself out.
    We burn the old tree tops and clear some brush and cut a couple of pines tree to replace cants as I use them. Chainsaws and snowmobiles are always an additional challenge during winter.

    Thank you.

    Howdy Simon- you just keep going regardless of the weather. You, my friend, are to be admired for the tenacity. I did a similar thing during Christmas by cutting some oak trees while the sap was down to make into firewood. Still working four hours away from home so the firewood will wait. Hope all is well with you and Ms Sarah. Have a great weekend. God bless

    Oh dear me Simon! What an adventure over the last few days for you! I throughly enjoyed every moment! Have to say I didn’t think the first sink was nice let alone the second time after all the previous digging! Seeing you take off and miss the trodden track got me historical 😂😂😂😂. You commentary and dry sense of humour is just so much fun. Thank you for a good laugh ( sorry it was at your expense though). Seeing the reindeer passing by was a treat. And Kasper the wee darling just gorgeous.Once again absolutely stunning scenery you share with us. A big thank you. It’s the beginning of another week and here’s wishing you and the family good health and keep warm.❤️🇦🇺🇸🇪

      Thank you Anne, to be honest I had such a laugh whilst editing. Not that is was the funniest part but it is all you could see the funniest part was when I arrived at the trees going way to fast in totally the wrong direction and no clear path!
      It is always a pleasure to read your thoughts Anne Thank you. We send our best wishes.

      The snow depth is deceptive because it is all over, you get used to it after a few seasons and 100 times on your face.

    Hi Simon, I ended up selling my Viking for a lighter older Grand Touring. Like you, when I got that Yamaha stuck that’s where it sat. It just about kills you to dig it out. The lighter sleds make a world of difference for us old timers. Best of luck to you up there! Chris in Maine.

    • @arctic-rebel
      @arctic-rebel  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Chris, it was not a problem just a few years ago and when the track is good and I am not hauling logs I love the speed and danger, however age seems to be determining a different route for me and it sure would be nice to have a lighter one.

    Good times getting stuck. 😠🙄. 2 weeks ago i could barely lift my left arm , my shoulder and neck got all fucked up 😢 .its a lot better now .
    No talk of the forest fire is best off 😂.
    Take then fishing jigs I sent you and go punch a few holes for some perch , they taste way better in the winter .
    Have a good night Simon 👍👊

    Would the deer have trouble eating the brush pile down ?

    • @arctic-rebel
      @arctic-rebel  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So much brush in the forest I have left they for them Robert you have to keep your arable land clear

  • @robertmintz63
    @robertmintz63 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I was just going to say , the deer will be able to eat the tops , then you say it & then show . Are they actually Reindeer or are they Caribou ?

    • @arctic-rebel
      @arctic-rebel  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The reindeer or caribou is a species of deer with circumpolar distribution, native to Arctic, subarctic, tundra, boreal, and mountainous regions of Northern Europe, Siberia, and North America. It is the only representative of the genus Rangifer.

    Well.. you know.. Murphy's law and all that stuff. When something has the potential to go sideways, it often does🙈 And that Viking would be more than a handfull even for a young guy with intact shoulders and arms. To roll over 1/2 a tonne.. yeah right! Haha! But with Simonuity it came loose.. good on ya buddy👍 Please, for your own health, sell that lump of machinery, and see if you can't get your hands on a lighter wide track, even if it should be an older model, a 2-stroke would be way easier to handle. Here we are getting what I hope is the last snow of this winter.. tomorrow it's supposed to warm up and start raining.. and next week the forecast predicts up towards +10 °C. All the best to you, take care and be safe out there🙂

    • @arctic-rebel
      @arctic-rebel  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes good old Murphy again. Our weather is the same tonight's snow is going to be heavy and then it looks like warm temps for the next tens days. I have know this for s while thus trying to get finished with the snowmobile because it is a pain to get unstuck. All the best my friend. Thank you
