    Hey Simon there will come a day that all your knowledge & skills in the forest will be extremely valuable to those that pay attention & learn them. I know I'm too old( 75 ) for that ! 👍👍🍺🍺

      Hi Robert, if it helps someone now the rewards will come in a diverse and constantly providing land. It is all common sense if it is not for profit. As you know the world today needs profit and therefore forestry management policy is created around profit and not what is good for growth or inhabitants. There are a number of benefits to working this time of year but the biggest is 0 impact on the ground.

    Howdy Simon- it’s good to see you out in the forest doing your forest thing making it better. I remember you repairing the track on your snowmobile last year hoping it would last the season. I didn’t realize they cost so much. For a southern fellow I don’t think I have ever actually seen a snowmobile. Anyway, another great video. Hope you and Ms Sarah have a great weekend. God bless

      Hi Paul, I did have a new track planned for last year but some things never worked out. The up side to that was I did get the time to build a much needed sawmill building, as did you so we must not complain. There is no point trying to chase the $'s it just isn't here. Everything cost slightly more here but the costs always seem higher when you earn less, you know how it is. Anyway I just have to nurse it and it should last, amazing really so much pressure on those belt staples. Thank you as always have a great week.

    Yes, of course we like the content! In fact... I love going along with you on the logging trips. Now, with the upgraded machines, will you manage to get more than a year ahead with the stockpiling of firewood? It would be such a blessing if you have a buffer stockpile!! Happy weekend there to you all!! Stay safe and look after yourself!!

      AJ, I have a confession. I have being watching your new vids but on the TV so can only leave a thumbs up and not comment so well done and keep going. Great question on getting ahead, well I am ahead thanks to the cutting job I did with the Tractor last year but cannot or have not secured enough trees to get any further. If I had my own forest full of birch I could but I do not so am still relying on trading for wood from other owners. However what it will do is ensure I never have to lift,drag of haul a log that is heavy for my back. I have to go get some large tree's over the next week " you will see me drop them" and then can go back when the snow has gone and collect them with the new tractor and forest wagon. That is for construction timber not fire wood. All the best to you all from us.

      @@arctic-rebel Well Simon... I also have a confession... I thought you have abandoned me! Great to know you still watch but I do miss your comments!
      To be honest... I'm in two minds about continuing and just this week I was chatting with her good self about canning the channel when one of the grandson's sent me such a sweet comment about my latest uploads - it gave me a renewed focus on keeping going!
      So... thanks again for your support!

    Thanks Simon, I need a hat like that. What are your feelings on the Husqvarna chain you got last year? I have all my trees brought in. Just have to process them, our winter has been mild only burned 3 cords so far and that's fine by me. Take care.

    • @arctic-rebel
      @arctic-rebel  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Mark, I can not believe you have all your tree's in WTF! I have 3 Husqvarna speed cut chains and I like them. I was not a fan of the old chains at all I would sooner put broken glass in my eyes than use them but the new ones are ok. Similar to the Oregon X cut. Now your going to ask which one I prefer. That's hard because I am an Oregon man over all other bars and chains, However I am going to say 55/45 in favor of Oregon out the box. But they seem to shay as sharp for the same time and after the first hand sharpen are about the same in performance. Good luck and be well.

    Moose is the most dangerous animal in our forests - if you come between a mother moose and her calf she can kill you. Bears and wolves are not so dangerous, unless you provoke them. By the way Simon, do you hunt moose on your property? Seems there are alot of moose in your area. And you are a tough man thinking -15 is an ok temperature, I hate everything below minus five he he (and i love summer when it's 25 - 30 deegrees).
    And I feel sorry that you have a back problem, I have prolapse and it gives me so much pain I need to use strong painkillers to function normally. You must be careful, so your back doesn't get worse. Take care when you are logging alone, I hope you have cell-phone cover or a security radio in case something happens. Greetings from Norway

    • @arctic-rebel
      @arctic-rebel  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, Yes I know Moose very dangerous and am not so keen to meet with them. There are many moose here but I cannot eat meat so there is no use to hunt them. I was paralyzed 3 years ago with my back unable to stand or move, the Swedish back surgeons are excellent and did a fantastic job to fix me so I have to be careful. Take care and Thank you.

    The hat is cool Simon😜 But I'd guess it's warm even if it is cool🤔 Anyhoo... hope you guys are doing good in spite of snowfall, angry moose mums and bad snowmobile tracks😁 Jokes aside buddy.. I really hope the track stays together atleast for this season, it would be a massive bummer if it should snap.. finger and toes crossed it won't🙏🤞Here we've had fantastic weather for a few days(well deserved I must say), 3-8° below, sunny and nearly dead calm.. just beautiful to be outside stacking wood. I got 12 big birch logs in return for two huge larch logs, so tomorrow it will be a day by the 576 xpg cutting and splitting. Have a great weekend buddy, all the best to you and yours🙂

    Hey Simon, what does that track cost? Maybe we can help?

    • @arctic-rebel
      @arctic-rebel  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, they cost 11-12,000 SEK. Everything has increased so much it may be even higher now you know how $$cked things are at the moment. I think if I am real gentle with it I can make it last the season and then make a plan based on how or what work I can get during the summer. Thanks for the thoughts I really appreciate it.

    • @kestlovs
      @kestlovs 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Mighty hard work in such cold weather, hats off!
    I like your ideas about thinning. That's probably the way it was done before the industry set the standard. And the wildlife like it for sure. They seem to avoid those collonade forests with no undergrowth for some reason.

    • @arctic-rebel
      @arctic-rebel  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It is harder than if there were no snow for sure but I like it so not as bad as you may think. I agree with you about the wildlife they do stay more to mixed and diverse forest as do the insects. Naturally the trees grow a little slower but in this climate they are slow anyway.
