Tent stoves have changed wet, cold and winter camping in a way that nothing else could! Being warm and comfortable in one's tent, the wood stove blazing away, clothes drying, sleeping bag warming, water for hot drinks and/or supper on the stove, and an ambience like no other! My titanium box stove and 9' titanium foil stove pipe weighs two pounds! That's an awful lot of potential in a compact size and weight package, and although it'll need feeding more frequently than much larger stoves, its well worth the weight saving. The presenter appreciated what makes a good winter camping video and produced an outstanding one! The sounds of nature, actions that speak for themselves, no narration necessary, subscribed. Pomoloy very clearly produce great quality equipment that makes outdoor living that much nicer.
In addition to patience, I think you need the ability to not panic & should know how to improvise. I love camping, but have always done it in fair weather & a tent with a stove... I'd probably set the whole thing on fire! Must feel marvelous tho, to actually do it well!
Have to say this is the best video I have ever seen to help out a beginner snow camper. You provide a clear, step by step process with a clear, basic gear list. No shitty music and or non stop commentary! I feel that I could actually do this after watching you and having this list for the set up. Thanks so.much.
While this is fun, it’s not necessary for safe and comfortable snow camping. All that gear costs calories and time to haul! I’d rather go fast and light- if I had time to burn to get fancy, I’d build a snow cave.
@@leighdexter7493 dont let those 2 deter you, I do it all the time. Sometimes 10 days in a row. Roughly a similar setup. Sure you burn a lot of energy getting there but there are leisure periods too...between chopping loads of wood!!I also carry solar panels and a tablet to watch movies and MP3/4 player and a BT speaker for music and some other entertainment devices I wont mention here :p (hint: extra meat is always a good thing)

Через 10 минут из рюкзака появляется топор полноразмерный, печь, сковорода, чайник и нефигоаый по объёму спальник... Да и прочие шняжки, которые в 2 рюкзака то не влезут) Ну Гарри Поттер, ей богу) Ребят, ну всë для искусства, понимаю. Но блииин. Ей богу - джет Бойл, палатка, каримат и спальник даже не нормальный, а просто не полное г - всё что нужно чтоб спать в -6 )

Best advice I got for winter camping was always have food in your pockets and keep eating it (nuts, dried fruit) because you are losing lots of energy keeping yourself warm. Also, never drink anything cold. Hot drinks are best. Your body has to warm up anything cold, wasting energy it could have used to keep you warm.

Иначе под печкой, от огня, появляются лужи..... Обычно в зимний поход идёт большая группа туристов...в ночёвку обрубаем все ветки у ёлки, укладываем толстые слой лапником и сверху ставим шатёр... Ставим печку, делаем запас дров до утра... Печка горит всю ночь... Дежурим по очереди....

As a seasoned winter camper in my younger years, I was wondering how things might play out with cooking inside the tent, and then Yogi & Boo-boo paying a midnight visit. In my neck of the woods, you’d be seen as just another spare rib, when the Rangers found your final resting place.

Not all days and nights are as drastic as this, that being said I learned something new every day from watching this! Thank you! One comment would be your stove chimney to me is not secure! In high winds I’d be afraid of it blowing around and dislodging from the base! Your thoughts?

Nur schon am Anfang beim Hinlaufen, ich meine da muss ja jeweils zuerst die Kamera installiert werden um dann das Vorbeilaufen zu filmen. Und das gleich ein paar Mal! Und auch beim Zeltaufbau, wie oft da die Kamera umpositioniert wurde und jedes Mal wird ja dabei der Aufbau unterbrochen. Hut ab! 👍🏻

Всем Привет✋👋. Хочу высказаться по поводу увиденного... Палатка без дна называется шатёр... Её ставят на снег, предварительно укрытый толстым слоем ёлочных веток... Иначе под печкой, от огня, появляются лужи..... Обычно в зимний поход идёт большая группа туристов...в ночёвку обрубаем все ветки у ёлки, укладываем толстые слой лапником и сверху ставим шатёр... Ставим печку, делаем запас дров до утра... Печка горит всю ночь... Дежурим по очереди....

How does the chimney stay in place without falling to the side and burning the tent? Looks like even the smallest amount of wind would send it flying.

As a seasoned winter camper in my younger years, I was wondering how things might play out with cooking inside the tent, and then Yogi & Boo-boo paying a midnight visit.
In my neck of the woods, you’d be seen as just another spare rib, when the Rangers found your final resting place.
Doesn't Yogi hibernate in his warm cave and just laugh at the crazy human when it's below freezing and feet deep in snow?
Excellent camera work! What struck me most from what I looked at was the stove pipe. How it collapses) I apologize if the question has already been asked (English is not my native language - it’s not easy to read comments) why didn’t the tent catch fire from the chimney? There is no non-flammable gasket! Thanks for the movie!
Sometimes I wish to live in a country where adventures like these are legal. But then I think watching it on a sofa is probably more fun than actually living it…
