This was Yasunori Nishiki's first solo project. The music was composed with the constraints of old consoles in mind, and he actually made an official album of 16 bit arrangements to prove it. Check it out sometime!
Octopath 2 will blow your mind, I dunno how they did it, but they somehow managed to surpass the first one in literally every single aspect of the game
Is as good as the first one, but not better, in the aspect of music. Some music the first one even better. But if you talk about the suitability from the gaming aspect, or the theme that fit in to their story line, they improve. But in musical aspect, is a tough call.
I think that one is a bit subjective but what I do love is how the character themes in OT2 are juxtaposed to the OTI characters, they are thematically opposites and even the final boss themes mirror each other in a way, a male tenor vs a female soprano.
@@nerdzoneI think the first game’s soundtrack is more instantly hooky and ear catching, and the second game’s soundtrack is a bit deeper and more of a grower - but once you fully get into it it’s magnificent. Either way Nishiki is a master at his craft - the new Uematsu imo
THANK YOU SO MUCH for taking this request ! Despite the flaws, it's easily my most favorite game series in recent years. Daughter of the Dark God is peak JRPG-boss music. Hope you will do and enjoy as much Octopath 2 too !
The first Octopath Traveler was released in 2018. Two years later, its mobile game released on Japan. Three years later after that, Octopath II was released. And somehow, they all shined on music.
Octopath Traveler easily has one of the best soundtracks ever made, no hyperbole. It is gorgeous from start to finish, and the sequel does not disappoint in this department either. I think this is bound to be a hit for anyone who has even a smidgen of fondness for orchestras.
The final theme and the reaction is everything i have ever wanted from these OST's - finding that theme takes you completely off guard leaves you breathless
I’ve never seen this take anywhere else, but I personally interpret the vocals in Daughter of the Dark God to represent the boss, while the instruments represent the party. At least to me, it sounds like they’re fighting and I love it!
I would´ve loved watching you react to the secret bosses themes, "Those who govern reason", it is simply majestic, and an experience you should not let go!
Octopath travellers audio design is so good with the character themes and all battle themes designed so you can flow smoothly between the character to battle at any point of the character themes loop.
I love that you guessed who Primrose is from the first 15 seconds of the theme. That means that the composer did his job immensely well. Also, about the themes looping, most of them would be different variations of ABAC.
I would definitely recommend the music of bravely default 1 and 2 after this one, the game is made by the same studio as this one and the music is just as if not even better
Absolutely seconding this one. If she lost it this much over Daughter of the Dark God, then I imagine she'll absolutely melt over a certain track from Bravely Default II as well.
The whole OST is gold. You could several videos reaction to all the other songs and the OCTOPATH TRAVELLER II OST and every single fan of the games out there will watch it. The game and its ost is that good.
So fun thing about Daughter of a Dark God, it's part 2 of a two part superboss at the end, part 1 being called The One They Call The Witch, so you go from that into Daughter of a Dark God, and it hits so much better
The first time i moved out of my parents house this was the forst game i played for the first time. To me the soundtrack represents an adventure and personal growth in my life it makes me so emotional

This game has one of the hardest final bosses I've ever fought in gaming. My heart has never beat faster during a boss fight then when Daughter of the Dark God kicks in at phase 2 of the boss and I know I'm almost there. Truly an amazing game with amazing music
I think the really hard part Was that you couldnt safe after the bossrush or phase 1, even tho my fight with phase 1 was absolutely crushed in round 1 every time I tried, I only stopped trying because it was so annoying getting to galdera again, and again, and again, and again ...
@@artlover4444 Actually same though. I never beat it because there was no checkpoints and I didn't want to grind to be super overleveled so I gave up. I want to try and beat it someday though, especially if I want to play Octopath Traveller 2
Octopath 2 has a fantastic OST as well! But it's hard for me to recommend many songs that stand out as particularly good besides the battle themes (which are always a good pick!) Maybe Roque Island, Full Steam Ahead-, Wildlands Day-, Den of Darkness... Edit because I forgot to say anything productive: I bought this game not long after it released because I thought it looked interesting, but never got around to actually playing it til last year. I enjoyed the visuals, but I fell in love with the soundtrack so hard. It was infinitely interesting to me how they handled each character's unique music. Every track connected connected to a particular character fits them so well, they keep a unified theme, and it's mesmerizing to hear them. Where it really hit hard for me was the boss battle themes though. Like the way my jaw dropped getting to Therion's first boss and hearing his beautiful theme transition into an overwhelming and climactic boss theme was wild to me, I'd never been hit so hard by music before So, needless to say, when I finished with Octopath 1 and shortly after found that Octopath 2 was coming out soon, I was so excited. I'm so emotionally attached to these games almost solely because of how well the music captures the characters and the locations that I fear I may have a heart attack and DIE if it doesn't continue
I do recommend listening to the boss music with built in transitions from the character preambles though. Hearing them separately is a bit odd, because they're supposed to move seamlessly between each other
I can't think of a single track between Octopath Traveler 1 and 2 where I legitimately don't like it. Octopath 2 does some things with interpolation that gave me SO MUCH serotonin.
Hey I know you did a kirby theme video a few months ago and wanted to recommend the song "two planets approach the roche limit" all the songs were great, but it was definitely the most popular song when forgotten land came out
Well, just discovering the channel, and looking forward to listening to more reactions to music :) and considering what you said, if you haven't listened to it yet, you might like "Herminia, the Covetous Witch" and/or "Master of Wealth" from Octopath COTC. You should really listen to the Risk of Rain 2 OST, I truly think you’d enjoy it. Easily one of my favourite soundtracks ever. Especially the tracks “…con lentitud poderosa” and “The Rain Formally Knows as Purple”. Please consider
Amazing song the last one. But well, it is part of the "Octopath Traveler" ost. I suggest reacting to the "Fire Emblema Three Houses" ost, to "God Shattering Star" specifically, to be amazed.
random fun fact the composer for this game aslo composed for yugioh master dule the moble game and also did the monark theme witch also has clasical vibes the man is a fucking genuis seriously

Some of my favorites are "Stardew Valley Overture" , "Tropicala", "Dance of the Moonlight Jellies" (this one's so good!), "The Wind Can Be Still", "Raven's Descent", "Pelican Town", and "The Stardrop Saloon"
And then... there's mobile game. Which has the Sarzantos suite. Spread across eight different tracks. You don't have to this hard. You didn't have to make the mobile game ost THIS STRONG.
Redemption with the transition ending that you listened to into Decisive Battle II is pretty much as the two tracks are designed to be listened to, but Decisive Battle II is designed to play as smoothly from any of the 7 other character's equivalents of Redemption, and there another three or so boss fight themes that Redemption with that transition is designed to transition smoothly into. Classically trained singer. Someone with the money to make actual requests rather than random comments here get Emily to react to one of the Ace Combat soundtracks. Because while I'm unfamiliar with the franchise, it's usually a treat to hear classical singers react to that series of games about fighter planes for the first time.
Great reaction, as always. If you like music that gets inspiration from all over the world, you should listen to the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles soundtrack. It's an insanely unique video game soundtrack. The instrumentation alone is crazy.
No te conocía, menudo descubrimiento tus vídeos, gracias por reaccionar a una banda sonora como la de Octopath Traveler, te recomiendo que reacciones a la del Octopath 2 que también es muy buena.
The fact that Octopath Traveler did not win the game award for music that year was the most disappointing turn of events ever for that year in gaming. The composer was such a genius with his work that each of the motifs of the characters was written in such a way that it would loop perfectly into the battle theme. I believe there a few videos on TH-cam that can elaborate on it.
I guess I'll never understand why people are so in love with the Primrose theme. Sunlands and Clifflends but especially Frostlands are much more interesting than Coastlands. Also Requiem of the fallen is amazing. On a Knife's edge and Creeping Dread are perfectly disturbing. A Settlement in the Red Bluffs is extremely memorable. My quiet forest home such a vibe. All battle teams are just gorgeous. ... And that's without mentioning the 2nd game's OST that is just as good if not better. Temenos theme perfectly reflects his reasoning for travel, Flamechurch night theme is so serene and soothing, Doubt is what I do have no rights to be as good as it is, Cait's theme has no competition and it's not all of them even!
Definitely one of the best OSTs of any game ever. BIT disappointed this didn't include Frostlands, Riverlands, Alfyn's Theme, or My Quiet Forest Home, but hey you can only do so many I guess and every track is amazing so oh well.
I hope you do touhou music in the future. The entirety of the series help caused the creation of undertale and all of its music. As a plus the creator of the series is very lax with the copyright for his characters and music which allows for anyone to create derivative works of touhou from song remixes to selling your own games. For some song suggestions they are Gensokyo the Gods Loved, Broken Moon, Maiden's Capprico, Love Colored Master Spark, Flowering Night, Hartman's Yokai Girl, and U.N. Owen Was Her.

She should have listened to river lands best track in my opinion
No te conocía, menudo descubrimiento tus vídeos, gracias por reaccionar a una banda sonora como la de Octopath Traveler, te recomiendo que reacciones a la del Octopath 2 que también es muy buena.
The fact that Octopath Traveler did not win the game award for music that year was the most disappointing turn of events ever for that year in gaming.
The composer was such a genius with his work that each of the motifs of the characters was written in such a way that it would loop perfectly into the battle theme. I believe there a few videos on TH-cam that can elaborate on it.
please I beg listen to the 2nd game as well. there is amazing tracks there too
You are so precious. ^^
Hm, don’t know much about the Game, but it sure has quite the Soundtrack.
Have you done Live a Live? I can also suggest Triangle Strategy.
I've been waiting for this😍 please do the sequel
I loved it, you loved it, everyone agrees 🚀
22:16 classically indeed!
17:07 attack on titan opening
I remember when I recorded I thought it sounded familiar but now listening back I TOTALLY hear it
Definitely one of the best OSTs of any game ever.
For some song suggestions they are
Gensokyo the Gods Loved,
Broken Moon,
Maiden's Capprico,
Love Colored Master Spark,
Flowering Night,
Hartman's Yokai Girl,
and U.N. Owen Was Her.
Amazing video as always. Your reactions are always fun to watch. Could you start reacting to some of the anime osts. Many animes have banger osts as well like bleach , naruto
too bad you didnt hear they who govern reason, it's soooo good
There are AAA games whose entire OSTs aren't as good as just Octopath Traveler's title screen theme.
Bravely default OST PLEASE!

Some reccomendations for world iceborne include
