I said it in chat in Part 1. Yasunori Nishiki shows the clear influences of the great JRPG composers that came before him. You hear Uematsu in his fearless use of harmony and Prog Rock and Metal influences. You hear Yasunori Mitsuda in his use of melody. His use of texture and orchestration has clear influences from Yoko Shimomura with a splash of Mitsuda when he uses thinner textures. I've noticed other commenters reference the Saga series as a key influence as well. Nishiki pulled from the best to create an OST that doesn't miss.

Does he know that there's a recent official album with orchestral arrangements from Octopath 1 and 2 (and also the mobile game iirc)
It's sick
Please listen to the break arrangement of “A Settlement in the Red Bluffs” it’s so good
years later and i still find myself randomly humming decisive battle II with sound effects included
Decisive Battle 2 is such a great song for running, talking from experience...
As a flutist myself, I make that sound by rolling my tongue while blowing into the flute, but I'm sure there's other ways as well.
I'd really love if you listened to the music from Sonic Unleashed
STARTING WITH BATTLE 2, YEEESSSS.
Edit
I would love nothing more than an octopath orchestra.
FF X pls
