My favorite part about NL is when anytime any enemy does something at 50% HP, he calls it splitting

40:00 'I know you're like "use buffer" ' No NL I'm not. Not only did it not block much damage but you seemed to not even evaluate the enemy strength gain.
TL;DR: Run Strength 8/10, Tactics 7/10, Strategy 6/10. A decent showing, but NL failed to adapt to really any of the bosses, and the Woke Bloke put him out of his misery.
> Amplify was a horrible upgrade in the face of the Awakened One. You can't play into the bosses's strength like that - the goal isn't to maximize your own strengths but to minimize the risk you're taking. It ended up being 100% dead anyways.
> A Capacitor+ puts NL in a fairly comfortably winning position after Electro + Capacitor + Defrag+ x2; having full frost means that he'd have 42 block per turn compared to a maximum of 48 damage, and evoking tilts that further into NL's favor. Orb slots are really good for further scaling!

Act 1:
- Still would like to see a little more map checking. The right would have been good as well.
- I don't really like choosing a rare card on the defect - the only super useful rares for a base deck are Core Surge Buffer and Electrodynamics, and only the latter is truly run-breaking. Honestly, they're all so synergy based that I think the 100 gold might be the best choice, although the Buffer he got crushes Slime Boss.
- Doom and Gloom is quite useful against the Slime Boss, especially with a Buffer to tank at least 1 hit. NL could even cheese it and use Buffer+ to stall 6 turns and then dualcast it to death. Still, though, Leap is definitely good.
- Again, Darkness is really good against the Slime Boss, and also against Lagavulin. Also, NL is so scared of Autoshields for essentially no reason - even if it falls off later, it's already made the early game significantly easier.
- Recycle is a good card, although NL can't exactly abuse it yet.
- If NL had a Dark, he wouldn't have needed to rest. Still, though, NL... didn't need to rest anyways. Huh.
- Biased Cognition does not need Core Surge to make it work. I've said it a thousand times, but NL seems to only play linearly. Sozu... I really wish he'd at least try and get better with the potions.
Act 2:
- NL's learning to just instantly slam Biased Cognition in normal fights. Good on him.
- Sweeping Beam is probably the right call for some more AoE.
- Hologram and Recycle or Dualcast is very good, in addition to being able to fish back powers.
- Some good plays here, honestly. Hopefully he learns to essentially snap take Biased.
- Electro is a snap take. Melter... It's okay, but he's not going for the 4th floor where it can be extremely good.
- NL should have stalled a little more I feel, but still a good Champ fight.
- Amplify is... Well, it's really a win-more card IMO. Cursed Key is also fine, although NL would very much like some draw.
Act 3:
- Awakened One is decently troubling and bricks Amplify in 9/10 plays. Consume could change that, though.
- The Focus build is very reliable and supports a lot of varied win conditions.
- Amplify upgrade is almost worthless, especially against the Woke Bloke. Definitely would have preferred to see that upgrade go to Coolheaded.
- Pain is really bad. Honestly, I think I'd skip the chest here since 2 curses brick Buffer.
- Definitely should have hologramed Leap instead of Zap, and probably should have held off on Buffer. The final gambit almost worked, but I don't think there was much hope.
I also thought the amplify upgrade was curious. I feel like nl over values upgrades that "double effectiveness", even though the only time for the rest of the run that he was able to use amplify's upgrade effectively essentially gave the boss +4 damage...

@Public Access: Darkness? In this deck? Are you f'n kidding me? Sorry, but you have no clue what you're talking about. He had a cycling orb deck, not a wait and evoke deck. Yes, he had cables. Big deal. With a dark orb, he bricks all his orb generation. He had a Capacitor to boot. I think his overlooking the second one was a mistake. With capacitor, it makes evoking a dark orb even harder. Have you even played this game?

You need to stop sleeping on Loop if you're doing a Focus based deck. Gold Plated cables was giving you block you didn't accounted for a lot. Imagine if you were getting 20 passive block just for having a Frost orb in front.
Hopefully after seeing how good Gold Plated Cables was to NL this run, he'll learn that Loop (ie, the power version of that relic) is a good card.

In all seriousness, you signed your death warrant upon playing buffer, and then everything just snowballed from there. You NEED to save buffer for the turn where he transforms, and playing any power that isn't defrag is just killing yourself faster.
eh capactiror has an argument as well, 2 extra orb slots well used is better than the str the boss gets. But yes the buffer play seemed insane to me too. As he said it would block 18 damage I think he forgot it is a power.

NL needs to start taking Go For The Eyes in every build. You always take it because it is the only Defect card that applies weakness. Weakness is extremely powerful.
yeah he started to realize weakness is good for the silent but hasn't realized it is just as good for the other 2 deck types. Weak is basically 25% block PLUS damage on go for the (obviously only if they are attacking, but it is still 0 cost damage card even on no attack turns)

He really has no idea how to play vs the awakened. Playing ALL your powers and hoping that's stronger than the enemy strength gain is an ambitious move, you really need to start building around him the moment you enter act 3.

I'm going to review your first floor: You played too safe, you could have gotten the serpant deal for 150 gold because you are using your orbs, so weakness is less relevant here, relic is also worth a try a couple of times as well, debatable. And you should upgrade zap when you have the opportunity, 0 cost is WAY better than 1 cost. Always try to upgrade cards the either: double the effect of the card, makes it renewable, or REDUCING THE COST of the card (most important).
I think you're still having problems with situation analysis, especialy with buffer, it is incredibly powerful card that you didn't really factor in when you're playing in the first floor.

@@Chunkosaurus It's fine, but there are some of his decisions such as not upgrading zap earlier that really costed him later on.
@@Leifenguard I think on this specific run not upgrading zap was fine. Buffer and cool headed and biased and defrag were much better upgrade targets
Honestly, overall NL plays too safe in most cases. He passes on elites that he could take in most instances save for losing a little health. Not saying its always a good choice but if you arent in A20 yet, a first floor elite is often not horribly difficult (cards and relics depending). He bypassed almost every elite this run. Some were definitely good calls but its hard to watch when after skipping 5 elites, you know how the run is going to end.
@@Chunkosaurus Sure, I think biased/defrag is more questionable, I think there are several instances where he could've done more with his turn if zap was free.

Amplify into Capacitor was your win condition against Awaken One, those extra orbs for cost of 2 strenght would neutralize him without any problem..

Because it's a great card in any sort of orb centric build? Having ~20 slash damage every turn is incredible, and pretty easy to set up..
This run isn’t as good of an example as I though, but I’ve seen him take it with only a zap in the deck, is it still good there? I genuinely don’t know
@@BIGhappyG33 at worst, electro operates like a tempest, so even in an unrelated deck it works ok. It also is one of the only powers in the game that sets up itself (wraith form being another one) so you can play it and not necessarily need something else to make it "tick". The biggest issue with it is it's often not worth taking over other boss cards. It's not as all encompassing good as like echo form or seek so the opportunity cost might make it not worth taking, but on it's own outside of a boss fight like it was in this video, it's pretty much an instant grab imo.
The only reason not to take electro is if you already have one or the other choice is seek or echo form
Unless he takes it as a reward literally before the final boss, it's good.

We'd all prefer if you played good decks that you liked playing. Focus decks are good and fun.
