    The man has two upgraded Blade Dances, Infinite Blades, After Image, Accuracy, and Wrist Blade show up and he still doesn't try for Shiv meta. Sigh.

    TL;DR: Run Strength 8/10 and 7/10, Tactics 4/10, Strategy 4/10. A rare tactically bad episode, with a lot of misused potions and issues with enemy prioritization.
    > You can't just play through one win condition all the time. In Cultist + Chosen, you have to just abandon all the slow powers and just instantly nuke down the Cultist.
    > Rethink your card and relic evaluations - there are very few cards and relics in this game that are truly untakeable. Especially as the Silent, whose access to Well Laid Plans and strong draw at common makes taking tech cards much easier. Plus, Dash is just one of the best Act 1 cards in the game...
    > Pathing is incredibly important, since NL so far is still pretty bad at assessing his deck's strengths and weaknesses and thus would like escape routes or opportunities to take harder paths. He did call out Snecko as particularly bad, but he only realized his deck needed the energy until it was too late.
    > Pretty much every class wants to fight at least one Elite in Act 1.
    Act 1:
    - Stop discarding Ascender's Bane, Egg.
    - You actually can't not offer anything. I would have chosen a Strike, but then again I would have taken Bane or Slice from the first pack instead of the Piercing Wail.
    - Resting seems somewhat premature; having extended Weak on Nob or Lagavulin is probably worth close to 10 HP and then you get the added value later.
    - There's basically no point in using a Block Potion for less than 12 unless you care about not taking any damage (e.g. when you're about to die).
    - NL targets exactly the wrong enemy in the Slime + Slaver fight. With Piercing Wail and 2 sources of Weak, he's relatively likely to get out without taking too much damage.
    - Definitely would not have used both Thorns and Strength - Strength would be appropriate, but I'd rather save Thorns for Floor 2.
    - Glass Knife versus After Image is a tough call - I think I would have taken the latter because NL has Toxic Egg and can get those juicy Cloak and Daggers, but Glass Knife enables much less painful Elite kills and is generally extremely strong in the early-mid game. Runic Pyramid is extremely strong with things like Finisher, Flechettes, and Storm of Steel.
    Act 2:
    - With the constrained hand space, picking Blade Dance definitely wasn't worth.
    - Snecko crushes Runic Pyramid decks, unfortunately. Playing Prepared might have been worth it, but it's still rough.
    - Discovery is a great add which I'd add over Blur, although the latter does smoothen out attacking turns.
    - NL pops the power potion against a basic enemy rather than an Elite... Actually, he pops both of his potions. This is pretty bad.
    - Dead to turn 1. At least he acknowledges that his lack of attention to pathing killed him in the end. His decision making was mostly fine, but he had no way to recover from the enemy that hard countered him.
    Act 1, part 2:
    - He looked at the boss at the very beginning of the run. Honestly, that's a win in of itself.
    - Terror is the worst pick out of all of those first cards - both Dash and Predator are incredible against early Elites, whereas Terror is only really good against Lagavulin. You need to play 5 Strikes to make equivalent in damage, and that's backloaded damage whereas Predator can just instantly kill enemies (and Dash, which does that and is a non-skill blocking card and does significant damage. NL criminally underrates this card, I'm telling you.) In addition, certain builds can't even use Terror all that well and don't want to invest the upgrade to make it easy to play.
    - Being more aggressive early is absolutely correct.
    - Noxious is a good upgrade target, but I'm still looking at Neutralize+ or even Predator+.
    - NL using the Poison potion on 4 Gremlin seems like overkill. I'd have saved it for later.
    - Bouncing Flask doesn't interact with Terror and is quite unwieldy to play especially since NL already has Predator and Malaise competing for energy, but it strips artifact extremely well and melts through most bosses + single-target enemies. I would personally pass it up since NL has both Malaise and Bronze Scales to hard counter Hexaghost, but you could take it.
    - Definitely would have fought that Elite. Late-act elites are pretty much ideal, since the deck is as strong as it will get on the act and the Elite will still be the same.
    - Well-Laid Plans+ does almost nothing for NL currently, since he doesn't have any combo that he'd like to store. It's technically doubled in effect, but the marginal benefit is extremely low.
    - Lizard Tail is by far the worst choice NL could have made there. Going Choker locks NL out from Shivs, but control decks like the one NL's going towards rarely if ever will feel the downside, and Snecko Eye is good in a deck with 3 2 cost cards.
    Act 2:
    - Outmaneuver is really good with Well-Laid Plans, Malaise, and just in general to smoothen out NL's energy problems. Does he just never look at the card?
    - Two Leg Sweeps on a deck with 3 energy is not as strong as you might think.
    - Always, always target enemies that can Vulnerable you. The status is just so incredibly bad to have.
    - Really should have thought about that Choker, huh?
    - The Silent is particularly relic-dependent, which makes that 3 Relic Act 1 particularly bad. Hunt elites, nerd!
    - NL kind of just durdles and waits for the Cultist to kill him when he needs to attack it as much as possible. Even Noxious would have been better than the Caltrops.

    So, seems to me that Noxious is almost always a better play than Caltrops. Noxious is guaranteed damage every turn, and more damage every subsequent turn. The Caltrops damage can only compare if (a) the fight is short enough that Noxious can't scale fast enough or (b) the enemy is the Heart or the Hexaghost, and does _several_ many-hit attacks.

    Hey NL... Guess what! An all Defensive deck with 1 attack better than a strike, and only 1 source of poison? Yup... You're going to lose any fight where scaling happens, which is essentially 2/3 fights in Chapter 2 and beyond.

    To me, velvet choker is counter intuitive. You get more energy to play more cards, but you can't play more cards because you have velvet choker.

    Ive noticed in all your silent runs, you seem to always take -
    Well-laid plans no matter what card shows up (And caltrops even though its like the 4th card you could add to your deck and all you had done so far was remove 2 strikes)
    Defensive cards when they are available
    No cards if they are all attacks you've never used effectively before
    Once in 4 runs over a 30 min video will you take an attack/power card that could win you the run if you built the archetype right, but usually lose cause you wanted 20 card deck with 19 of those cards being blocks

      34:35 - NL is a genuinely intelligent and reasonable man, which makes his knee-jerk reactions and baseless opinions all the more perplexing. I KNOW he is capable of understanding 'velvet choker' and putting it to good use, and yet he just doesn't seem to realise that it can be used with, say, a bludgeon rather than a cloak and dagger. Few, high value cards = yay. Many, collectively valuable cards, nay..... but I have literally never played the game, so what do I know.

      Further to my last comment, I do wonder if NL realises that 'noxious fumes' actually builds... I know he does realise, and yet he doesn't seem to value it accordingly. Getting it out early on a fight like this where he'll have to deal with one enemy while the other goes untouched, noxious can really wear 'em down... so can caltrops, but it's a flat 3 damage IF they choose to attack you. Noxious is 3 poison every turn, adding up and up and up... I like noxious, alright?!

      Back of the napkin:
      10 turns of Caltrops (assuming one activation per turn) = 3x10 = 30 damage
      10 turns of Noxious Fumes+ = 3+5+7+9+11+13+15+17+19+21= 120 damage done to both enemies.
      He died on the sixth turn after making this decision, so the maths would be:
      6 turns of Caltrops, which actually activated 11 times causing a total of 33 damage split between two enemies.
      Versus
      6 turns of Noxious Fumes+ which would have done 3+5+7+9+11+13 = 48 damage. Big difference, no?... On top of which, we have to remember that noxious would have affected both enemies.

      Correction: Noxious Fumes is slightly less good than I calculated because it doesn't come into effect until one turn later. So the figures are actually 99 damage and 35 damage.
      Even so, 33 TOTAL damage from Caltrops split between two enemies, versus 35 damage done to each enemy from Noxious is a pretty clear choice. 33 vs 70.

    Struggles against Snecko for multiple turns unable to discard, never plays Prepared+ to discard 2 cards. XD
    I never ever commented on his videos before now. We are talking misplays, sure dude... but the same misplay for like 4-5 turns though?? O_o

    Yo NL! I'm not a slay the spire pro but i realy feel likee you're losing that hard by being 1) a pussycat on the first floor, you NEED to fight elites to get stronger; 2) in order to achieve that, you can't add skills to the deck before you've been fighting the gremmlin. I realy realy think that it'd improve your runs :D

    At 16:33 was the shelled parasite supposed to die like that? Like the flying knee boosted up the parasite, stunned it , and finally killed it.

      It happened because the Flechettes he played (just before the finishing Flying Knee) knocked off the last of the mob's plated armor. When the last plated armor is removed he is stunned for a turn.

    Does she actually do damage in ascension mode?
    Also I wrote a poem. "Roses are red, violets are blue. Predator sucks and Reflex does too." Seriously, Reflex is actual garbage.
    NL, actual tip: When looking for what card to remove, count the number of attack and defend cards you have. Try to keep those at an even level. Got 6 defends and 4 strikes? Then it's time to remove a defend.

    I think that in the name of Zan, NL should give up his starting relic for a Random Boss Relic. Who is with me?!
    Edit: I know that the starting relics are good and 99 gold for a rare relic is also fantastic.
    But! There is a possibility that he could get a upgraded starting relic at the very beginning, or get a Boss-R that will force him into a archetype.
    When your in a rut, go outside the norm!!

    the first run ended not because of terrible deck construction, but because of very poorly handled Snecko fight. You have that "draw 2, discard 2"-card, why not use it?..

    Yo everyone shut up about the freaking curse, egg boi needs to worry about his deck construction more than a stilly misplay that doesn't really do that much, Noxious Is Not That Good, and don't dip toes in every archetype ascension 18 is rough but just looking at good block cards that don't really work with anything and saying block is good is Not good block is more important yes but a solid deck that can actually do something is better that fissiling out every single run, have fun there are so many combos that you have hardly even sniffed at. Sorry for he long comment but I love slay the spire and I hope you do too
