I'm waiting for this comparations longtime since the release of M3S. I like RS3mini for Quality, professional style and more room for future payload, but the M3S is lighter and built in LED light! I'm sure both of them can handle my A74 and 35GM without issue. I may end up getting the M3S just because of its weight. Thank you Mark for your time to make this video happen. 👍

bought n use rs3 mini for 4 month sold it cz too overkill for my zve10 + 18-50mm sigma, now i'll use zhiyun m2s much lighter for traveling. got sore arm after using rs3 mini+zve10 setup for 2hours+ walkaround city 💪🏼😩
Problem is my camera is an old A6400 my question is regarding the Ronin. Does it come with the Sony Multi Cable in the box ? If not do I have to buy the cable separately? Or is there any way to wirelessly trigger start stop record using Bluetooth with my a6400

Is it possible to put a gimbal with the camera already balanced on it in a bag? I’m trying to get a DJI Pocket 3, but was thinking the ZVE1 would be manageable on a small gimbal for nature walks. I don’t want to hold it the whole time, but don’t want to spend ages rebalancing.
Yes, the m3s especially. If you have a small lens and the zve1 balanced, you can just power off (I usually lock the motors too) and then when ready to use - power back on
You should make a video to see if it makes a difference if oss is turned on or off when on a gimbal. I’ve seen some people say to turn it off. Love your videos.
Not enough difference to upgrade from M3, but I do prefer the Zhiyun over the two DJIs I have, especially with the Ulanzi Falcam accessory for the M3. Great video !
can the rs3 mini quickly switch to vertical mode tho? i mean i dont mind holding the gimbal a little uncomfortably if i can switch to vertical mode in less than a second 🤷🏼♂️

I wanted to give an update to my M3S experience after about a year of use. It dropped my FX3 and 14mm GM the other day. Hard. Onto concrete. Six feet or so. The mechanism for the plate unlock has developed a real hair trigger. Breathe on it and it will let go. I don't think I will trust it again. The axis locks are both shot. It is the metal the tabs slot into. They've all beveled to a 45 degrees now and the tabs just get pushed out if the axis is moved. Effectively I can only lock the pan axis. The theme seems to be bad metallurgy and poor attention to tolerances. I'm not getting rid of it, but I won't use it for anything but low end bodies and lenses going forward.
I did the same with Weebill. I didn't expect it to unlock and A7r IV and 24-70 smashed on the asphalt. I'm sure the lock was on but it felt flimsy after I checked it so it unlocked during walking. Fortunately only the (very expensive at €150) filter was smashed. I wouldn't trust Zhiyun with my gear anymore.

I have Panasonic LUMIX G85. I am confused if that will be compatible with any of them as both DJI and Zhiyun's website doesn't mention G85, but other models of Lumix. How do I find out?
The reason I prefer DJI's gimbal is because their app is significantly better. It is possible to control the movements of the gimbal in a very delicate way, and make camera movements that are very difficult to do manually. In the ZHIYUN application, the gimbal control is impossible, the movements are very fast, so it is not useful.
Hi Mark, I like your humourous videos about cameras and gimbals. 🤣 A couple of weeks ago I made my decision for the RS3 mini because of better bluetooth and cable connectivity with my little Sony ZV E10, and I did not regret. One thing however I changed immediately (after availability), was the mounting plate and arm. Instead of the Ulanzi system I chose the SmallRig 4195 and 4196, which gives the optimum performance with my ZV E10 cage: you can mount it directly on the quick exchange plate for the RS3 mini plus on an Arca Swis mount of a tripod etc. etc. The RS3 mini is also mounted on an Arca Swiss plate, so I can put it directly on a tripod; with a 1/4" to 1/4" adapter on the plate I can also screw it to the original DJI desk tripod. So this a real quick swapping for different scenarios. I am using the RS3 mini on a tripod for remotely controlled videos on landscapes and buildings (also for conferences), as you can make much more cinematic takes than by moving around personally. There the Ronin app is doing a great job. Plus I am using my tablet via WiFi as a monitor, which helps for more distant settings. I will try to send a short video to you on the SmallRig setup via E-mail. Although it is in German you might understand what you want to understand. Best regards, Rainer
I got the DJI RS3 Mini (shortly after the release of the Crane M3S). there were not much reviews comparing the 2, so I wasn't sure which was better, tho I was sure the Rs3 Mini was much better than the Crane M3. I'm satisfied with the rs3 mini, tho I do observe some of the sway you mentioned here. But you can adjust the motors to be stronger (i have yet to see if it works). All in all, I feel the Rs3 mini does have its perks - solid build, sleeker design, bigger payload, nicer app interface, and the fact it has a NATO clamp so you can attach a briefcase handle! I also believe it has a much bigger battery life as well. And the branding of DJI feels more premium to me than Zhiyun but this could be biased from me. (i also got mine at a massive discount, so yeah im biased haha)
it’s a great gimbal for sure. I find if your camera has stabilization and you turn that on, it often smooths out those little drifts. The DJI definitely feels premium
I got the M3 and it seems great but if it had follow-me mode it would be excellent. I wish that could be added somehow because the Osmo pocket 3 is looking mighty compelling as a vlogging video, action cam thing.
Im on the buy for the m3s but my biggest question is, does it work fully compatible with ZV-E10+ Viltrox 75mm f/1.2? Maybe anyone here can test this out?? thi will really help me a lo, thx,,!!
The m3s is compatible with the a7c but it doesn’t specify if the a7cii is compatible I know it’s pretty much the new version of the same camera so I would assume it works but have you tried utilizing it with it?
I have rsc2 and rs3 mini. I am quite disappointed at rs3 mini. I think one selling feature for dji gimbal is the super smooth setting. I always leave it on and it make quite big difference. The rs3 mini unfortunately does not have this feature and the stabilization just not at same level as my old rsc2. Since then I never used my rs3 mini.

The stability looks way, way better on the Zhiyun. This supports my experience with the RS3 mini - it's very sensitive and surprisingly hard to get steqdy footage when moving. It was a big disappointment for me considering I've been very happy with DJI products in the past. I just put it up for sale and might get the Crane. I'm sure you CAN get decent footage with the RS3, but I want something easy to use that doesn't require a huge learning curve.
The corrections on the S model of the M3 make it way more compelling that the OG M3. Nobody but nobody got a chance to buy the bottom plate that made battery doors accessible, and even less than nobody ever got the Bluetooth module offered for cam connectivity. That all this is baked in makes the new one actually worth looking at.
Mark, I just picked up the crane m3s. Do you know if you can buy more quick release bases to use with this system? Like so you can leave the piece connected to the base of the camera.
What I hate about the Falcam F38 attachment is that it is always coming loose- always. It does not matter how tight I make it, it will eventually start flipping around in the middle of a session.
I tighten mine with the allen key (if the option is there), and flat blade or coin if it’s a slot. I don’t have any issues. But if torque any plate hard enough it will come loose. I tighten mine every so often maybe once every couple of weeks of heavy use, to prevent any slippage.
it’s in the same ballpark for sure. weight a little more than the m3s, not quite as compact though. it doesn’t have Bluetooth, but when you connect a cable it has the same functionality. It doesn’t hold as much weight, and it’s less easy to balance, but it’s a really good gimbal. I did a review of it a white back. They had a problem with their kickstarter campaign of the Scorp mini, which made a lot of people angry because they didn’t receive their gimbals after a year. So, it’s tough to recommend them because of that customer problem. It’s sorted out now, but I received a lot of angry emails from people upset with the company.

he Hohem has a very cool tracking feature, but as a gimbal it’s not as smooth as the rs3 mini or the crane m3s. my pick would be the crane M3S for your combo if you aren’t going to use that ai tracking feature. the m3s is the smoothest out of all three and it’s a fair bit smaller than the rs3 mini

i need help :D is it possible for the M3S to handle a S1H with 2.2Kg Setup? :/ i think i can mount it with my cage but i dont know about the Payload... i love my S1H but i need a small Gimball... my Crane 3S is to big for some things...
Zhiyun doesn’t really go by payload, they go by balance. If a small camera has a long lens for instance, it may not balance, but a bigger camera with a big short lens might balance well. The S1H is a big guy and depending on the lens you’re probably need a bigger gimbal. The DJI RS3 mini might work, or maybe the Weebil 3S or the Crane 4

Tried Crane M3 with ZV-E10 and Sigma 16mm and it didn’t work well, since the Sigma 16 is front heavy. Not sure about M3s, I assume it’s the same since Sigma 16mm is not listed in a compatibility list, although the Sony 11mm light lens is not there either.
the motors are a bit stronger and one of the arms is a little longer so it should work better, however, if you do apply a smallrig cage it will help to balance the zv-e10 and the sigma 16 even on the original m3

Mark, I have a Sony ZV-E10 and it's paired with 7artisians adapter and the Sigma 18-35 f1.8. Would either of these gimbals hold up? I value your opinion. Much respect.
Youd need an rsc2 , weebill s with counterweights or weebill 2 with counterweights MINIMUM - not for payload but for the arm extension The rs3 mini , crane m2/m3 , ronin sc 1 , feiyu scorp / g6 max and any other 1-2kg payload gimbal WILL shake and break apart slowly.
The M3s really is crazy good. Best Gimbal I have ever used.
It's really so great. I am loving the Weebil 3S too for the bigger stuff

For Nikon z8, which among the two you suggest. With 20mm lens it's around 1.6 kg but it's not in the list

It does have a multi cable that connects to the a6400 to controls a few functions

In your video samples I prefer dji because I could see many micro shakes with the zhiyun crane that's impossible to fix in post
Could be the dji had bigger swings but less micro jitters. I find it’s best to use camera stabilization on with both if possible

Ended up with the dji rs3 mini. It works with the pgytech quick release out of the box which is really nice for me

I have a question I want to know if the dji have a same GO mode like the m3s. Cause sometimes I want the gimbal react immediatly like the go mode from the m3s ?
I wanted to give an update to my M3S experience after about a year of use.
It dropped my FX3 and 14mm GM the other day. Hard. Onto concrete. Six feet or so. The mechanism for the plate unlock has developed a real hair trigger. Breathe on it and it will let go. I don't think I will trust it again.
The axis locks are both shot. It is the metal the tabs slot into. They've all beveled to a 45 degrees now and the tabs just get pushed out if the axis is moved. Effectively I can only lock the pan axis.
The theme seems to be bad metallurgy and poor attention to tolerances.
I'm not getting rid of it, but I won't use it for anything but low end bodies and lenses going forward.
😮😮 that’s awful!! Use the Ulanzi f38 arm so I didn’t encounter this hair trigger mechanism. Woof. I hope your fx3 and go is ok!!
I did the same with Weebill. I didn't expect it to unlock and A7r IV and 24-70 smashed on the asphalt. I'm sure the lock was on but it felt flimsy after I checked it so it unlocked during walking. Fortunately only the (very expensive at €150) filter was smashed.
I wouldn't trust Zhiyun with my gear anymore.

I have Panasonic LUMIX G85. I am confused if that will be compatible with any of them as both DJI and Zhiyun's website doesn't mention G85, but other models of Lumix. How do I find out?
The dpi will be able handle anything you put in the g85 - and the crane m3s - it will depend on the lens. What lenses are you using
The reason I prefer DJI's gimbal is because their app is significantly better.
It is possible to control the movements of the gimbal in a very delicate way, and make camera movements that are very difficult to do manually. In the ZHIYUN application, the gimbal control is impossible, the movements are very fast, so it is not useful.

Hi Mark, I like your humourous videos about cameras and gimbals. 🤣 A couple of weeks ago I made my decision for the RS3 mini because of better bluetooth and cable connectivity with my little Sony ZV E10, and I did not regret. One thing however I changed immediately (after availability), was the mounting plate and arm. Instead of the Ulanzi system I chose the SmallRig 4195 and 4196, which gives the optimum performance with my ZV E10 cage: you can mount it directly on the quick exchange plate for the RS3 mini plus on an Arca Swis mount of a tripod etc. etc. The RS3 mini is also mounted on an Arca Swiss plate, so I can put it directly on a tripod; with a 1/4" to 1/4" adapter on the plate I can also screw it to the original DJI desk tripod. So this a real quick swapping for different scenarios. I am using the RS3 mini on a tripod for remotely controlled videos on landscapes and buildings (also for conferences), as you can make much more cinematic takes than by moving around personally. There the Ronin app is doing a great job. Plus I am using my tablet via WiFi as a monitor, which helps for more distant settings. I will try to send a short video to you on the SmallRig setup via E-mail. Although it is in German you might understand what you want to understand. Best regards, Rainer

I got the DJI RS3 Mini (shortly after the release of the Crane M3S). there were not much reviews comparing the 2, so I wasn't sure which was better, tho I was sure the Rs3 Mini was much better than the Crane M3.
I'm satisfied with the rs3 mini, tho I do observe some of the sway you mentioned here. But you can adjust the motors to be stronger (i have yet to see if it works). All in all, I feel the Rs3 mini does have its perks - solid build, sleeker design, bigger payload, nicer app interface, and the fact it has a NATO clamp so you can attach a briefcase handle! I also believe it has a much bigger battery life as well.
And the branding of DJI feels more premium to me than Zhiyun but this could be biased from me. (i also got mine at a massive discount, so yeah im biased haha)
it’s a great gimbal for sure. I find if your camera has stabilization and you turn that on, it often smooths out those little drifts. The DJI definitely feels premium
I got the M3 and it seems great but if it had follow-me mode it would be excellent. I wish that could be added somehow because the Osmo pocket 3 is looking mighty compelling as a vlogging video, action cam thing.

I have rsc2 and rs3 mini. I am quite disappointed at rs3 mini. I think one selling feature for dji gimbal is the super smooth setting. I always leave it on and it make quite big difference. The rs3 mini unfortunately does not have this feature and the stabilization just not at same level as my old rsc2. Since then I never used my rs3 mini.
yes, there is some compromise with the small form factor. I live the stabilization on in my camera while using the mini and it works well

The stability looks way, way better on the Zhiyun. This supports my experience with the RS3 mini - it's very sensitive and surprisingly hard to get steqdy footage when moving. It was a big disappointment for me considering I've been very happy with DJI products in the past. I just put it up for sale and might get the Crane. I'm sure you CAN get decent footage with the RS3, but I want something easy to use that doesn't require a huge learning curve.

the RS3 mini is easier to balance and has a more clear menu - so I would say it’s a bit easier to use.

Nobody but nobody got a chance to buy the bottom plate that made battery doors accessible, and even less than nobody ever got the Bluetooth module offered for cam connectivity. That all this is baked in makes the new one actually worth looking at.

What I hate about the Falcam F38 attachment is that it is always coming loose- always. It does not matter how tight I make it, it will eventually start flipping around in the middle of a session.
I tighten mine with the allen key (if the option is there), and flat blade or coin if it’s a slot. I don’t have any issues. But if torque any plate hard enough it will come loose. I tighten mine every so often maybe once every couple of weeks of heavy use, to prevent any slippage.

How does the feiyutech scorpio mini compare to these?
it’s in the same ballpark for sure. weight a little more than the m3s, not quite as compact though. it doesn’t have Bluetooth, but when you connect a cable it has the same functionality. It doesn’t hold as much weight, and it’s less easy to balance, but it’s a really good gimbal. I did a review of it a white back. They had a problem with their kickstarter campaign of the Scorp mini, which made a lot of people angry because they didn’t receive their gimbals after a year. So, it’s tough to recommend them because of that customer problem. It’s sorted out now, but I received a lot of angry emails from people upset with the company.

he Hohem has a very cool tracking feature, but as a gimbal it’s not as smooth as the rs3 mini or the crane m3s. my pick would be the crane M3S for your combo if you aren’t going to use that ai tracking feature. the m3s is the smoothest out of all three and it’s a fair bit smaller than the rs3 mini

Zhiyun doesn’t really go by payload, they go by balance. If a small camera has a long lens for instance, it may not balance, but a bigger camera with a big short lens might balance well. The S1H is a big guy and depending on the lens you’re probably need a bigger gimbal. The DJI RS3 mini might work, or maybe the Weebil 3S or the Crane 4

Tried Crane M3 with ZV-E10 and Sigma 16mm and it didn’t work well, since the Sigma 16 is front heavy. Not sure about M3s, I assume it’s the same since Sigma 16mm is not listed in a compatibility list, although the Sony 11mm light lens is not there either.
With the RS3 Mini, I can balance the ZV-E10, newer SmallRig cage, 16mm f/1.4 Sigma, and side mounted VideoMic Pro II. Not a problem.

the motors are a bit stronger and one of the arms is a little longer so it should work better, however, if you do apply a smallrig cage it will help to balance the zv-e10 and the sigma 16 even on the original m3

It says in the instructions you can zoom with the FX3 - I tested it with my FX30 and unfortunately I can't get it to zoom.

Youd need an rsc2 , weebill s with counterweights or weebill 2 with counterweights MINIMUM - not for payload but for the arm extension
The rs3 mini , crane m2/m3 , ronin sc 1 , feiyu scorp / g6 max and any other 1-2kg payload gimbal WILL shake and break apart slowly.
