Medium range Missiles still have quite limited range( and let’s face it long range missiles are extremely bulky to where non stealth aircraft can carry at max 4 and stealth aircraft cannot carry any). This means that they are often launched close to their maximum range, and if your moving fast all you need to do is move to one side a little and the missile has make a gigantic turn that will drain a lot of its energy nullifying it. And if they aren’t launched at their maximum range then it’s because the target is moving and the Missile doesn’t have a realistic chance of hitting if the opposing aircraft even makes a attempt to dodge.

and they're soon to complete the NGAD program for 7th-generation fighters. The capabilities of the NGAD fighter jet are far more complex and advanced than the F-22. It's crazy how well the US gets its tech developed in such a quick manner.

Actually the F35 is needed more than the the F22 in many aspects, however they are sister planes needing both intelligence gathering systems to work together. The budget is a mess due to many things, but mostly administration level. Don't underestimate the 35.
Not everything should be placed on an air-superiority fighter, you know. You also need dedicated multi-role fighters which can do a multitude of jobs. Even then, as said by the commenters above me, the US also have the F-15s to supplement the already aging F-22s. Moreover, you are gravely underestimating the F-35s electronics and avionics.

Actually the F35 is needed more than the the F22 in many aspects, however they are sister planes needing both intelligence gathering systems to work together. The budget is a mess due to many things, but mostly administration level.
Don't underestimate the 35.
Not everything should be placed on an air-superiority fighter, you know. You also need dedicated multi-role fighters which can do a multitude of jobs.
Even then, as said by the commenters above me, the US also have the F-15s to supplement the already aging F-22s.
Moreover, you are gravely underestimating the F-35s electronics and avionics.
It’s wasn’t a mistake, we simple didn’t need anymore f22s, since there wasn’t and still isn’t any competition.
