I KNOW I look like garbage. I spent 6 hours in the orthodontist’s chair fixing my broken face today and had to hop on camera the second my face was no longer numb. Feel free to put the phone in your pocket and pretend this is a podcast.
Girl bye! You're just fine. Thank you for your dedication! On the other hand, I hope that the community would have been supportive you if you took the day off because... broken face 🙈 Feel better soon!!!!
What a fantastic video! Thank you for this in-depth explanation. In South India, we use a lot of soap nut. I will definitely try it in my soap. Another thing we love is Shikakai. It’s a tamarind kind of ‘fruit’ that’s powdered and stored. I would mix it with rice starch and use it to shampoo my hair. It gives a beautiful glow to the hair and cleanses the scalp without drying it. I hope you get to experiment with it some time. And ginger Lilies too. The water that we squeeze off the red flowers make such a great skin conditioner. Thank you again, for sharing this info.
No worries. You are beautiful inside and it shines through. We your loyal sudsers look forward to these videos and you can show up like you just crawled out of bed! Lol. Awesome info. Thank you!
I made a Castile soap last year and it lathered beautifully in my hard well water but I couldn’t get past the slimy feel so I grated it all for laundry soap. My whites are so white! I’m on a lard kick now. With milk and honey it’s an amazing hard soap with a lovely creamy lather. Soapmaking is so fun.
I am doing laundry so I put this on to play. I found myself replaying several times what you had said. I got it. I really got what you were saying. I was so excited that I got my soap notebook out and started making notes replaying the whole video. Thank you! wow, I feel like I just stepped out of middle school into high school. I'm not a novice but feel like I'm ready to move onto the next phase. Thank you!
Wonderful discussion and lots of important info, kudos! My most popular and best soap was superfatted coconut oil, castor oil and high-oleic safflower oil. I have old test bars that are 5 years old and are amazing and this recipe will not go rancid (DOS Dreaded Orange Spots) Love your channel, love your personality and your scientific mind.
Beyond awesome Deep Dive. I am absolutely 💯 giddy. Haven't even finished it yet and I can't stop smiling. EPIC!!!! FYI 1- I'm coming off my three day shift (they are crazy short and needed Xtra time)at the hospital and I am broken. 2- My bedroom has a massive hole cut in the wall leading to a new addition closet with an ill-sealed door leading outside to our new personal patio. I can feel the wind in bed lol. The heater is cranked way up. My husband is in deep snore.....AND IM WATCHING YOU AT MIDNIGHT IN THE 🥶 🧊 and I'm crazy happy 😊. Merry Christmas 🎄.
This is the episode I didn't know I was waiting for- thank you so much! I can't wait to wrap my head around it, but I can't process much right now due to sinus issues. I just know that your soaps are the epitome of luxury bubbles to me and when my bars come close to that I have no idea why. And yes, you are beautiful to those that love you no matter what. I mean, you don't even have any boogies hangin, and if you did we'd tell you as discreetly as possible... Those of us that love you. And there are plenty. Hope you feel that.
You look just fine, thank you so much for still putting out such great content even after having to sit in an orthodontist's chair. Have a very Merry Christmas!!
This video is really great, I have to review it and take a load of notes because the info you talk about I have never seen in any other video's about soap making and I have watched HUNDREDS of them. I have to watch your coconut video and I love the info about adding bubbles to a castelle soap as a friend wants another batch of 100% virgin olive oil soap but I don't like the slimy non foaming sensation. It's going to take ages to watch all your old vids!!
Love your deep dives!! The way your brain work and breaks down the information makes it super easy for me to learn from you!! I started making soaps for my family after having numerous oils left over from formulating my daughters diaper paste. She has super sensitive skin and after trying 30+ creams and pastes (both otc & Rx) with no avail I turned to research & homemade stuff… after the “store-bought natural” caused the worst allergic reaction I’ve ever experienced… now that she’s potty trained and I had recently ordered more mango, Shea, and cocoa butter, I needed a way to use them up.. thus came deodorant … then soap.. I love it! It’s super addicting lol.. Like you I chase the big bubble! I think its super important!! With that being sad it seems like your the only one to really talk about it! Most soapers online and with TH-cam channels just stick with their favorite.. or usually high OO content.. and I actually made one 50% OO once just because I was trying to color with rhubarb infused in OO.. it IS SUPER SLIMY!! I DON’T LIKE IT.. even my 10 year old noticed instantly and before I said anything she said “this one feels like a frog!” Lol. Also, I have hard water and the soap scum is practically instant!!!! I know it messes with my lather.. so, I have been messing around with Citric Acid.. what do you recommend? 1% 2% or 3%? Ive tried them but they aren’t ready for testing..
Great video on understanding lather. Quite if my bars have a very dense aand creamy lather. O try to explain to my customers that it's a good thing, because yyou get all this great moisturizing benifits. I also tell them if they hate the soap, I'll buy it back. I have NEVER jad anyone come back to get their money. I exolain the detergent thing to my first time buyers who use store soap. My soap is so good for your skin because it's made with real oils and butters. When they come back to purchase again, everyone makes that same statement "Your soap has changed my skin!" "I don't have to use as much lotionn, body butter, etc." I usually just nod and smile, and say "Awesome, glad you loved your soap!" I'm thankful for your discussion about big bubbles and now I can see where I can have large bubbles and a moisturizing bar. I'm going to fo a reformulation for my end of January soaaps and see what kind of reaction I get from my customers. I'll still carry my moisturizing recipe, but have some that bubble up big and see what they prefer. It'll be a fun experiment for sure! Happy Holidays to you and yours! Jill
I made a mardin (olive oil and pistachio oil) and added pea flour to the recipe. The lather was way better from the beginning but the peas made it subsceptible for orange spots 😕. So some additives could also shorten the shelf life of the soap 😔
You always look very nice...I enjoy watching your videos, so; I'm glad you took the time to do this video, your knowledge is always welcomed! Thanks! 👏👏👏👏👏👏😊😊😊
Excellent info on dealinv with hard water. What about soft water? My in-laws have an excellent water softener making soap not rinse away easily, but my high clay content soaps do rinse away well. Any other tips for dealing with soft water in soap formulating?
You look great, as usual! Thanks for another informative video. Might be a duh question but do bubble-making additives cause the bar to dissolve faster like coconut oil does? Enjoy your time with your family.
What do you think about French Green Clay for soap? I got 2kg from France and got stock with it. And may be some pointers where to research clay's for soaps. That would be amazing gift! Thank you for you do! I love watching you. Great personality and loads of knowledge combo, can't beat that.
Do you reccomend limiting oils/butters because of complexity and more room for error or something else? I may have gotten a little eager... the recipe I've been playing with has 6 oils and 1 butter, sodium lactate and sugar in the lye and clay with my colors and scent. The science geek in me says "slow down lady, too many variables" but the soap fan in me screams "MORE" 😆

Thank you for pushing through!

This was an awesome video. Very informative, and you present it well.

Hey! Glad you’re learning stuff here! I like citric acid around 3% normally,
Another amazing summary/ deep dive. Loved it! Thx thx thx.

You're a star!🌟
I always use aloe, anywhere from 50%-100% of my water. I really want to try soap nuts, wine and beer (probably, not all together 😉😂)
Thank you for the all the information that you give on this channel .
I made a mardin (olive oil and pistachio oil) and added pea flour to the recipe. The lather was way better from the beginning but the peas made it subsceptible for orange spots 😕. So some additives could also shorten the shelf life of the soap 😔
In Denmark we produce rapeseed oil and I have found that rapeseed oil increases the lather. We have very hard water here.
Thanks again for a fantastic educational video! I have learned so much from you, and have taken notes for each of them. :)
Merry Christmas! Thank you for all you share! -Momo
You always look very nice...I enjoy watching your videos, so; I'm glad you took the time to do this video, your knowledge is always welcomed! Thanks! 👏👏👏👏👏👏😊😊😊
Thank you for all great information…
Hey love hope you feel better
Excellent video
Thank you ..i learned alot..
Nice of you to help people..
Great info but you forgot milk as a sugar I use goat milk added after lye is added to oil to prefent scorching
Beautiful

French Green Clay is great for soap! Treat it like any other lightweight clay, Kaolin, for example.
@@MrsSoapAndClay thank you. Do you have 26hr in a day? 🤩
I used to add jojoba oil to all my soaps, I really liked it! I think it's technically a liquid wax :)
Why, why, why weren’t you my chemistry teacher??? Oh yeah, you’re too young to have been my chem teacher.🤪. Any way, love your Deep Dives. Go you!!!

Ohh to add I really love the result of the complex recipe. Maybe I'd love it just the same if I dialed back but I do love it.
Why do I think now hydrophobic and hydrophilic is cute?
You crack me up! DON'T LICK YOUR SOAP! ha ha ha ha ha...brilliant.
