    Today we are doing a whipped sugar soap scrub, from scratch, without paste. Now, this is not my most fun way to do this, but it does produce a stable scrub with loads of bubbles and scrubby bits. Check the end of the video, as I change the recipe to be scrubbier. It's an interesting marshmallow texture, between the fluff of a foaming bath butter and the smoothness of an emulsified scrub.

    Soap & Clay is a family owned business operating in Washington State, but started out online thanks to Mrs. Soap & Clay's kickass brother and his amazing web design skills. The business was started as a tribute to Mrs. Soap & Clay's grandmother, the OG maker in the family that cultivated everyone's love for the DIY life. The studio/retail shop opened in 2017 on 6th Ave in Tacoma, and immediately began teaching soap, bath bomb, lotion, and scrub classes to the makers and maker enthusiasts of the PNW. In 2019, the pottery studio opened as well, making the soap shop a busy place full of artistic energy every minute of the day.
    Mrs. Soap & Clay has been featured on Business Spotlight, New Day Northwest, and was awarded a coveted place on the South Sound's 40 under 40 list in 2019, an award given to the most influential business people under the age of 40 each year. She cried when she walked up to the podium to accept the award. A lot.
    Drawing from her chemistry background and her maker spirit, Mrs. Soap & Clay infuses her favorite things into her soapy designs and creates products that are fun to see, use, and learn to make. Stick around for this ride - she'll take you on a great one.

    For now, I do not have the courage to make dual lye soap paste. But I used soap shreds with almost an equal quantity of water + cocobetaine,stearic,glicerine and also Sci. I replaced the paste with soap shreds and I obtained the most perfect emulsified foaming scrub ever. I did it also with coffee. Without your idea of paste I wouldn't have imagined that an emulsified scrub can be done with soap and that it can be so perfect, like a mousse. THANK YOU ! What you give is not only a recipe but is a way of thinking, a way of creating recipes, you teach methods by every recipe! CONGRATULATIONS for your effort, power and initiative!

    I've just discovered why I'm missing some of your videos. Having subscribed since about day 100 of year one, I watch whatever is in my notifications. I've been missing several days in a row. When I search out your videos, they are all there. I'm not hitting the algorithm. When I clicked on the subscribed button to see if it will tell me exact counter number, which it doesn't, it popped up another option. I was only getting selected videos. I had to change it to all. Please put this information out to the rest of us. I couldn't figure out why it wasn't loading your videos. Yeah, solution.

    The melt marshmallow consistency happened to the soap paste recipe to me…. Could putting this back into the fridge or to leave overnight then re-whip them work?? Thank you!! Love your work and I’m a faithful follower of your videos ♥️♥️♥️

      I tend to use optiphen nd for most products. It’s a good broad spectrum preservative.

    How do you turn the paste into liquid soap? Are you going to do a video on that one or is there a good source for info?

  • @Agentscrange333

    One last question could you add a bit of a hard butter like mango or coco. But would it be pointless on the skin/ or recipe and better to be used in a whipped body butter? 🤔. Like as a shave soap is there enough time for the butters actually penetrate the skin?

    Would it help if one put the sugar in the freezer as well to keep the mix as cold as possible when adding the last few ingredients that seem to make it a bit liquid-y?

    For a double broiler- could you use a glass bowl on top of a boiling pot? I do this when melting chocolate. I am a new subbie, and I appreciate you explaining the ingredients, and how they work!

    I've meant to tell you in the past few videos, that I live your mixer! Mine is plain white. ;(. I've been trying to figure out if I can paint my own? I think it's ridiculous how much people want to paint one.
    I make mine with soap paste because I love the texture. Sooo much cheaper than buying the Stephenson's bath whip.

    Can you reduce the sugar paste in the initial receipe, I find the texture a bit sticky when applying onto the skin. Do you think 3.5 oz instead of 7oz? Thanks Mrs Soap & Clay for everything you share

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a creamier take on the scrub - more moisture rich and less bubbly. If you want more bubbles and don’t want to add synthetic bubblers to it, I’d stick with the soap paste!
