    Please forgive me Dariush, but for a minute, looking at the thumbnail with my horrendous eyesight, I thought that you were dressed as Spider-Man! Now there’s a topic for a video - “What scent would superheroes wear?”

    • @Persolaise
      @Persolaise  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I’m okay with being compared to Spider-Man 😂 And that’s a great topic. I wonder how strong Max’s superhero knowledge is.

    Love this content but I have to say you guys are light weight ;-)
    The following are challenging perfumes in my book:
    1. Hyde (Hiram Green)- thick birch tar with a hint of molasses
    2. Oudh Infini (Dusita)- Heavenly florals at the edge of the barnyard
    3. Fumidus (Profvmvm Roma)- Gothic boozy and most somber vetiver ever- only for those with hairy chests
    BTW, after a reported rift with Zoologist creator, Ellen Covey took her original formula of “Bat” and released it under her own brand Olympic Orchids under the name “Night Flyer”, not challenging at all to me :-)

    Figment Man is my pick (that’s the bat-like one you’re thinking of I believe). Haven’t figured out if I can wear it yet. My wife hates it. Keep up the collaborations. You complement each other well.

    The original formula of Bat is fortunately now available in the brand of Ellen Covey, the creator of the perfume. Is new name is Night Flyer (the original) and the brand is Olympic Orchids Artisan Perfume. I've buy it and I must say it's the same but a little bit tame down and it's for the best, more wearable.

    This was so entertaining and enlightening, especially how the nuance of scents can be offensive to some and fragrant to another. Cartier's Le Panthere is one that comes to mind - brings back many a 'choke inducing' memory of a former manager at a summer job as a teen (two+ decades ago).

    I love Creed’s Aberdeen Lavender. I’ve only bought bottles at discount prices. I can’t say for sure that I would love it as much for $350.00 a bottle, but I do enjoy it a great deal...it’s fresh and windy and transports me to dreamy scenes. This was a very enjoyable video. Thank you!

    I think Matthew Mellak nailed why we tend to gravitate towards ouds and animalistic scents,He reckons its routed in our scent memories stemming from the days of yore when people lived in small townships on top of each other plus animals with humans in the same domestic homes it was the scent of safe haven where out in the wilds in the same time setting in was dangerous and unnerving and the scents of unwashed and people smells was a comfort blanket makes sense I think 🤔👍

    Great video as always! I must say I am a proud wearer of the old Bat! I find it quite comfortable and satisfying! The new one is a reformulation made by Prin Lomros. The old is made by Dr Ellen Covey, who has her own perfume House - Olympic Orchid. There was a legal thing behind the whole reformulation story, as the original formula of Bat was the property of Dr Covey, not Victor Wong’s. The original Bat is reissued and available now as Olympic Orchids - Night Flyer. I have smelled them side by side and they are 100% identical. If you want to experience original Bat, just go for the Night Flyer. Also its like 1/4 of the price :)

      Earthy, metallic, fresh, fruity but somewhat dry fruity. Defenetley banana. But my nose is not that developed to separate notes. Its a dry, and cold experience. Weird would be a good word to describe. Its not dirty, despite the soil. when a dirty thing manages to smell clean :)

    This video was perfect timing for me. I was actually planning on heading to the Frederic Malle Boutique today to purchase a bottle of Superstitious. I have gone through sample after sample and finally decided I need a bottle. I also heard it might be vaulted soon... I do enjoy the older Bat from zoologist, just a dirty green scent. Dior Leather Oud is a staple!

    Missed it again 😂. On a roll! My daring perfumes, are what I like to call my angry perfumes. In peed-off mood? Well let's smell like crap, if you don't like it deal with it! 😂
    I may hurt your feelings, but I absolutely love Habit Rouge, but when I wear it, I get told I smell like a more "mature" woman, putting it lightly. One guy called it "eau de granny". But I don't care, they have bad taste 😂

    Hello everyone, I enjoy this kind of videos from Persolaise and Max, great selection of themes and great conversations. Maybe they find the time to talk about best/most missed discontinued fragrances😎😁 (please!)
    I must say I find this category most, well, baffling, just the idea of it. There is only like and don't like for me, there is no scent I don't dare to wear. But that is connected to the weight people give to other people's comments about someone's perfume. It's like collecting likes, but in fragrance. I find it takes you away from who you are and how you develop your tastes.

    • @Persolaise
      @Persolaise  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      An interesting point, although I’m not sure I entirely agree. Putting aside other people’s reactions, there are some perfumes that I *personally* find challenging to wear, because even though, on one level, I do admire them, on another, there’s something quite confrontational about their composition that causes a certain amount of unease.
      Thanks for watching 😊

    • @sanjapajovic8483
      @sanjapajovic8483 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Can I quickly clarify? Taking too much into consideration what others might think I find to be a slippery slope, that is all. For example, I have never heard of gasoline references regarding Fahrenheit which to me is downright mainstream perfume (I wore it as a teenager,
      a blessed child of the 90s) and I'm so glad I didn't. That was my main point.
      I get what you are saying, though.
      Great work, as always, thank you!

    OK, I have to say I am liking "super" Persolaise a lot better than papa and/or lord. What is the construct behind Persolais anyway, I have been meaning to ask you, if it's not too personal or intrusive of a question of course. I think I have a guess for the first syllable. This was a fun video!! Like these videos w/ Max,; he is so American to your British (as in yin to your yang), lol!!

    • @Persolaise
      @Persolaise  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This was some hardcore fun😄! I love how different we all are in terms of statement-making fragrances. Bat, the original, is one of my snuggliest comfort scents, mainly because it reminds me of lovely wine tastings in Tokaj back when you still could do such things, from the cool-wine-cellar-on-a-hot-summer-day associations of its moldy-ness to the raisin wine qualities of the overripe fruit residues note. As well as Musc Rav, which can be such a nice warm hug worn in moderate amounts and the right circumstances. It's aldehydes I find challenging and daring to wear, because I feel like I have to live up to their often deliberately... haughty? grownup? atmosphere? and one just doesn’t always have that in them. (And I'm so sorry, but the supervillain part made my entire day😂.) Thank you for the fun watch, gentlemen. Happy Holidays!
