That was well worth the wait , wonderful and your enthusiasm for Madonna is infectious. Great fragrance and music pairings and .the funniest thumbnail . A joy 🤩
I think being a fan is such a deep and specific spiritual experience and the joy of perfume and love of Madonna twinkling in your eyes is so wonderful. This was so fun to watch!
I'm not exactly a huge Madonna fan, not that I dislike her type of pop but Frozen... My god, what a masterpiece that still holds up. And the production by Orbit is stunning.
Just watched this and have the Spotify pl on. Was a very fun episode... More please! p.s. I'm 61 so Madonna is part of my early adulthood, but I've never been an informed fangirl. Appreciate all your knowledge!
I've enjoyed watching this and the playlist was a very nice touch. Thank you! 😊 My favourite Madonna album is "Ray of Light" too. Albeit it's the only Madonna album that I like so maybe it doesn't really count. 😂
Brilliant idea for this video, thank you for taking us on this journey. Thought-provoking to hear your takes, and I found it interesting that you'd chosen some fragrances that aren't necessarily contemporaneous with the songs you feel they represent. It inspired me to ponder what my perfume selections would have been for the songs you chose, because personally I feel like if Madonna could have worn the fragrance during the song's inception it creates a sort of authenticity and historic accuracy, even though of course this is all fantasy hahaha. These would be my selections: "Borderline" - Nina Ricci, L’Air du Temps "Express Yourself" - Chanel, No. 19 "I’m Addicted" - Guerlain, La Petite Robe Noire "Paradise (Not for Me)" - Guerlain, Nahema "Drowned World / Substitute For Love" - Editions de Parfum, Une Fleur de Cassie "Crazy for You" - Guerlain, Shalimar (spot-on choice for this one) "Holiday" - Giorgio Beverly Hills, Giorgio "Forbidden Love" - Chanel, Chance (EDP) "Future Lovers" - Dior, Fahrenheit "Like a Prayer" - Dior, Poison "Ray of Light" - Chanel, Cristalle "Vogue" - Guerlain, Jardins de Bagatelle
6 bangers in my book are: Physical attraction (you have to check a forgotten version mixed by Shep Pettibone) -> Anteus Everybody (paradise garage hit and overplayed by the genius Larry Levan) -> Yatagan (one of the most common perfume wore by the crowd of Paradise Garage) Like a virgin -> Eau d’hiver/en passant Material girl -> Musc Ravageur/Jubilation 25 La isla Bonita ->Paradisi Jorum studio/Bombay Bling NV Frozen -> Cristalle
Now I must smell Yatagan because the photos of her performing at Paradise Garage (with the *not impressed* audience lol) are some of my favorites. Soooo 80s NYC!
Loved this!!! ❤ Take a bow and borderline are my favourites! You should do a David Bowie one next for some amazingly beautiful and androgynous perfumes!
Yes mister p! More videos like this. The barbie one and this one are probably my favorites. I love to see you have fun! (Although kinda dissapointing because i was expecting a blonde wig or a cone bra 😂)
I wonder if you considered pairing Heaven Can Wait with Paradise (Not For Me). The titles echo each other, and you mentioned that the former is reminiscent of Poivre, which it sounds like Madonna wore. Still need to get my nose on the new Malle. Kudos for the cool video concept, this was a fun one 🫶
My top 10 Madonna are: Papa Don’t Preach Live to Tell Erotica Rain Frozen Drowned World/Substitute for Love Future Lovers Gang Bang Bitch I’m Madonna God Control And I’m a true Little Monster 👹
I've LOVED ecery moment of this - please pls do Björk next! As for Erotica live - it's gotta be Confessions tour incorporating the You Thrill Me demo (though less successfully done on the current tour imo).
Mr Persolaise I’m disappointed as I was totally expecting Bad Girl to be on the list but alas it’s missing.. I now have to go and play it on repeat while liberally applying vintage Opium.
Your t-shirt played tricks on my eyes for a full minute during which it almost looked like her face, but after it was removed and replaced by someone else’s. 🤭
Listening for the 2nd time now because I was cooking and was distracted. With the Spotify list in between this time. Brilliant! Thanks for this review and for putting the list together. I don’t think I’ve ever heard the I’m addicted song. It’s very good! Also obsessing over my new Lush Turmeric Latte today and I know you weren’t crazy about the Shalimar Millesime Iris but I just layered it over the Turmeric latte and am ecstatic😊
I must say that this video was very clever, unusual, interesting and unlike any other video I have seen on your channel or any other channel. Kudos to you Mr. Persolaise!
Interesting choices! The most interesting was for Future Lovers, I would have thought you chose Lineage from the same chapter as Search. I need to revisit Search again. Glad to see N22 for Ray of Light! That one was spot on!
A very special episode indeed for us Madonna fans. Among my top favourites are: Holiday, Crazy for You, Oh Father, Rain, This Used to ne my Playground, Secret Garden, Like a Prayer, Spanish Eyes, Sanctuary, Erotica, Nad Girl, Bye Bye Baby, Express Yourself, Pretender, Stay
Holiday, yay! It's not just amusing to kids, my sister and I (both in our 50's) recently had a go at doing a dance-along to the original video, it did not end well 😂 Tauers Orange Star fits the song so well!
I realy enjoyed this episode! The theme dosen't always have to be that deep cuz you aproach it with the same geeky entusiasem as you always do❤ and thats why I listen so much. I know nothing much about Madonna beyond like a virigin and a pointy bra and a vage idea of her being nice and culturaly significant. (My mum dislikes her for what ever reason and I never listened to her growing up in the 90ies). Its the way you discribe the scents and relate them to concepts like color and mood.
Back in the '80s, I went to see a lecture by Jean Baudrillard. Everyone was very disappointed as his topic turned out to be... Michael Jackson. He seemed too obvious a target and example of simulacrum. It all felt like lazy thinking and, at the time, overdone.
I LOVE Peter Gabriel. I’ve seen him live twice, and I’m glad he’s finally released the full i/o album, because I haven’t wanted to listen to the tracks one by one. Kate Bush is a genius as well - I should listen to her more often, actually. I’ve also got tons of time for Tori Amos, Goldfrapp and Bjork. I’ve always wanted to get into Bowie, but although I enjoy all his famous songs, I’ve never found an entry point into an album. Where would you suggest I should I start?
Not crazy for Madonna, but “crazy for Persolaise videos”. Fun fun & more fun video. Apres le Ondine, le sigh……..
Thanks very much indeed.
That was well worth the wait , wonderful and your enthusiasm for Madonna is infectious. Great fragrance and music pairings and .the funniest thumbnail . A joy 🤩
Ah, I’m so pleased you watched it.
A fun video once again! I don’t know many songs of madonna so that you made a playlist was a great idea!
I’m glad you liked it.
Many thanks for watching.
I think being a fan is such a deep and specific spiritual experience and the joy of perfume and love of Madonna twinkling in your eyes is so wonderful. This was so fun to watch!
Thanks very much indeed.
Love this video! What a joy ❤❤
Thank you.
Ray of light is my favourite Madonna album. The William Orbit era is a golden one.
Totally agree.
I'm not exactly a huge Madonna fan, not that I dislike her type of pop but Frozen... My god, what a masterpiece that still holds up. And the production by Orbit is stunning.
That thumbnail made me fall of my chair…
Oh dear. Sorry!
😂😂😂

Can’t love this idea enough. Absolutely brilliant inspiration and list but that thumbnail is even better 😁
Ha! Thank you.
And I am so glad you like "Ray of Light" too, this song is so uplifting and melancholy at the same time, just genious.
Yes, totally agree. And also folksy and techno at the same time.
The entire album is genius. My personal favorite. She was just so loose and open with that one.
As soon as I saw this posted, I ran out to get popcorn before watching. So fun!
Oh wow - wonderful.
I've never listened to a song by Madonna but will I watch this? YES
Thank you… and maybe one day you’ll find a Madonna song you like.
I could not click fast enough! Omg I can’t with that thumbnail 😂😂😂💀
😂
Hope you enjoyed it.
I've enjoyed watching this and the playlist was a very nice touch. Thank you! 😊 My favourite Madonna album is "Ray of Light" too. Albeit it's the only Madonna album that I like so maybe it doesn't really count. 😂
It definitely counts. Thanks for watching.
OMG the video thumbnail is HYSTERICAL 🤣
Glad you like it 😉

"Future Lovers" - Dior, Fahrenheit
"Like a Prayer" - Dior, Poison
"Ray of Light" - Chanel, Cristalle
"Vogue" - Guerlain, Jardins de Bagatelle
Those are wonderful choices, thank you. I especially like the pairing of Substitute For Love.
I just got the notification. I can't wait to watch this ❤
Enjoy!
Loved this video Mr P. Thanks 🙏
Thanks very much for watching.
Lots of fun. My favorite is La Isla Bonita.
I was sure that song would get many more mentions from the audience.
Thanks for watching.
Confessions on the dance floor! Hung up must be an honorary mention!!!
It does get a brief mention in the video.
This has been so entertaining, thank you! 🎉
Thank YOU!
6 bangers in my book are:
Physical attraction (you have to check a forgotten version mixed by Shep Pettibone) -> Anteus
Everybody (paradise garage hit and overplayed by the genius Larry Levan) -> Yatagan (one of the most common perfume wore by the crowd of Paradise Garage)
Like a virgin -> Eau d’hiver/en passant
Material girl -> Musc Ravageur/Jubilation 25
La isla Bonita ->Paradisi Jorum studio/Bombay Bling NV
Frozen -> Cristalle
Physical Attraction by Pettibone?? This I have to find.
Hang on, is that the version on Finally Enough Love? If so, then I definitely know it 😊
Now I must smell Yatagan because the photos of her performing at Paradise Garage (with the *not impressed* audience lol) are some of my favorites. Soooo 80s NYC!
Frozen by Madonna is Dior Pure Poison for me. Deceptively cold and harsh at first sniff (much like the video) but disarmingly innocent at its core.
Ah, excellent choice, thank you.
I enjoyed this. BTW have you listened to The Perfume Nationalist podcast? He pairs a book or a movie with a perfume on every show
That sounds wonderful. Thanks for the tip.
Loved this!!! ❤ Take a bow and borderline are my favourites! You should do a David Bowie one next for some amazingly beautiful and androgynous perfumes!
I’d love to, but I don’t know his music all that well.
Yes mister p! More videos like this. The barbie one and this one are probably my favorites. I love to see you have fun! (Although kinda dissapointing because i was expecting a blonde wig or a cone bra 😂)
I thought the bra might be a bit much 😂
I wonder if you considered pairing Heaven Can Wait with Paradise (Not For Me). The titles echo each other, and you mentioned that the former is reminiscent of Poivre, which it sounds like Madonna wore. Still need to get my nose on the new Malle. Kudos for the cool video concept, this was a fun one 🫶
That would have been a great pairing.
Thanks for watching.
(My SOTD: Eau de Guerlain.)
Wonderful.
My top 10 Madonna are:
Papa Don’t Preach
Live to Tell
Erotica
Rain
Frozen
Drowned World/Substitute for Love
Future Lovers
Gang Bang
Bitch I’m Madonna
God Control
And I’m a true Little Monster 👹
All Little Monsters are welcome here 😉
Thanks for watching.
I think I had a heart attack looking at the thumbnail ..my mouth was literally 😮 ahahahah …😂
Oh dear - sorry 😂
I've LOVED ecery moment of this - please pls do Björk next!
As for Erotica live - it's gotta be Confessions tour incorporating the You Thrill Me demo (though less successfully done on the current tour imo).
I completely forgot about the You Thrill Me version. I agree - it was spectacular on the Confessions tour.
Best! Epic! Super! ❤
Thanks very much.
Oh my goodness I was not prepared for this! Love it Mr. P!
Thank you.
Is that Dune Esprit de Parfum from 1994? Can't find a bottle of the original that looks like that.
I’m not sure when it’s from exactly. I bought it from a vintage seller last year.
I love the song You'll see
Her voice sounds wonderful on that one.
Mr Persolaise I’m disappointed as I was totally expecting Bad Girl to be on the list but alas it’s missing.. I now have to go and play it on repeat while liberally applying vintage Opium.
Ooooh… Opium is a superb choice for Bad Girl.
Your t-shirt played tricks on my eyes for a full minute during which it almost looked like her face, but after it was removed and replaced by someone else’s. 🤭
Ha! Sorry about that.
@@Persolaise haha thanks for the giggle!
💫 Enjoy a wonderful concert in case you’re going.
Listening for the 2nd time now because I was cooking and was distracted. With the Spotify list in between this time. Brilliant! Thanks for this review and for putting the list together. Strike a pose!❤
👍
I must say that this video was very clever, unusual, interesting and unlike any other video I have seen on your channel or any other channel. Kudos to you Mr. Persolaise!
Glad you enjoyed it!
That thumbnail!!😂😂😂
😉
@45:46 whhaaaaatttttt???! 💔 Erotica live in Confessions Tour was beatific 🕊
Ah, yes, yes, yes, you’re 100% correct. But I don’t consider that version to be Erotica, with those ‘You are who you are…’ lyrics.
@@Persolaise I understand that’s the “original” Erotica. The demo was called Erotica (You Thrill Me)
@@HeyAstor Ah! I didn't know that. Makes sense, though.
Portrait of a Lady = Churchy = Like a Prayer
True!
I heard she was a Fracas wearer - big white florals.
Yes, me too.
I really wish I could have catched this Live!!! I didn’t know you were a Madonna fan ❤ instantly one of my favorite streams of yours
I’m so pleased - thank you.
The thumbnail made me think this video was going to contain a “special announcement “ 😅
Well, it kind of was a special announcement.
OMG YOU DID IT!!!! I LOVE IT 😂
Thank you 🙏
would you do one for Taylor Swift ;D?
Sorry - I don’t know her music well enough.
I need to ‘in-see’ that image of you in a blonde wig… Good god!! 😂
Sorry - you’re never going to forget it 😂
Yes yes, blah blah, perfumes. I need to know where you got that shirt.
😂
From Madonna.com.
Your pic with the blonde wig has you resembling Kurt Cobain..lol.
That’s some combination!
Interesting choices! The most interesting was for Future Lovers, I would have thought you chose Lineage from the same chapter as Search. I need to revisit Search again. Glad to see N22 for Ray of Light! That one was spot on!
I’m glad you agree about No 22. Thanks for watching.
No 22 is such an inspired choice for Ray of Light. How about Chanel’s Cristalle for Frozen? Or even No. 19?
Cristalle would be superb for Frozen.
Live to Tell?
I adore Spanish Eyes.
Thanks for watching.
her vocals on Spanish Eyes still gives me chills today@@Persolaise
Totally agree!@@SarkoMontaug
Holiday, yay! It's not just amusing to kids, my sister and I (both in our 50's) recently had a go at doing a dance-along to the original video, it did not end well 😂 Tauers Orange Star fits the song so well!
I should do a family dance routine too 😂
❤
Thanks for watching.
Best conceptual review and a picking of lesser known gems
Thank you 🙏
I am ALL here for the tangents.🍿🍿🍿
ps. There are no obscure Madonna albums/songs, for me
Excellent. Not for me either.
That’s very kind - thank you.
Strike a pause 👽
Yes!
The Madonna album I got smelled like lavender, not patchouli.
Ah, interesting.
I LOVE THIS!!!! 😍🤩❤️
I’m glad! 😉
Back in the '80s, I went to see a lecture by Jean Baudrillard. Everyone was very disappointed as his topic turned out to be... Michael Jackson. He seemed too obvious a target and example of simulacrum. It all felt like lazy thinking and, at the time, overdone.

Ha! That pic! I thought Kurt Cobain?? Madonna???
Ha! 😂 Hilarious.
🤍
Thanks for watching.
I AM a music (of almost all genres) enthusiast which is why when it comes to Madonna, I’ll politely pass. Perhaps Bowie, Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush?
I LOVE Peter Gabriel. I’ve seen him live twice, and I’m glad he’s finally released the full i/o album, because I haven’t wanted to listen to the tracks one by one. Thumbnail gives a little Kurt Cobain.
Ha! Cannot be unseen now!
Wow! You are much prettier than Madonna
Ha! If you say so 😂
