Great reaction! Great video. One thing about the Metal Community, is that we are ALL brothers and sisters. You go to a show, you’ll be looked after in that way. You’re one of us, and will be taken care of. Go down the rabbit hole, it’s a blessed journey. Welcome! 🤘 #onelove
the brotherhood of a metal show is what keeps me going and throwing down in the pit. you will never be in a happier more caring safe if slightly violent place lol!
This is an interesting twist on music reactions. Using them to start important conversations is a great idea. I like it. And of course it never gets old seeing people's first reaction to Jinjer.
Tatiana's lyrics are always a good choice for these discussions because Tatiana is so open about her anxieties she goes through as a performer, as an introvert and as a Russian from war torn Ukraine who rose above her situation to come to where she is. In my experience she is truly the most impressive human being I have ever met. Strong, talented, smart, creative and able to go out every night on stage despite her aversion to crowds and put on a dynamic show as the center of attention. Also imperfect and not afraid to say so.
@@TheRealAb216 She is ethnically Russian from Horlivka or in Russian Gorlivka. That says nothing about her allegiance to Ukraine it's just her heritage. that is a significant detail to her story because not only has she seen the war there up close but she has endured criticism for not taking sides clearly enough in her early 20s. Ethnic Russians from the Donbas are a sensitive subject for Ukrainians. Ethnically Ukrainians are not Russians they are Cossacks. Two different Slavic races. That has nothing to do with nationality.
I was fortunate to meet Jinjer pre-show in October this year. It was an absolute honor and bucketlist item for me. I didn;t get to speak to her much(there is always that 1 guy at a meet/greet who monopoloizes the conversation) but I was able to give her a book I thought she might enjoy. They were all such gracious people, I'll never forget it.

She said that she was nervous when she did the Spiritbox collab because she was singing someone else's song without any rehearsal. I told her like usual she did good under pressure.
Wow - Imagine being deeply into mental health and not having listened to metal! Seems inconceivable to me. Metal is one of my most effective mental health support mechanisms. Recommended.
I think it’s just because music is the effective medium, metal is just one facet of that. People tend to gravitate towards music they relate to. Maybe she just never related to the music, Y’know? I don’t think it’s so crazy, personally.
@@calebelliottguitar Sure, I wasn't questioning the lady's taste or sanity! I thought that the mental health benefits of certain types of music were well known.
Yeah, people who don't get metal see it as angry and violent. Those who know, know it as catharsis and acceptance. I've never seen a more welcoming community than the average metal scene. We had trans and gay kids moshing with us back in the 2000 and no one gave a damn. They were just part of the gang.
Metal is a goldmine for mental health discussion. Songs sometimes allow ppl to convey a message that resonates more profoundly which is a good predecessor for this conversation.
"Pisces swimming through the river all their life against the stream,, searching for a hook to catch on and see their sunbeam" is a heartbreaking lyric when you think about it, willing to risk everything reaching for the light
i lost her name, but your reactor / guest, shes amazing! i do enjoy jinger lmao, tati is just so good, as well as the band.... but your guest, ma'am you took the unexpected in stride, and went with it, and had positives to say about it..... i need people like you in my life.
I'm not so much into Jinjer, but this song is a masterpiece. Reminds me of older Opeth songs. For someone who listens to metal a lot, this is still a very mellow song, but if you don't listen to metal at all, this maybe a harsh start.
This was such a great analysis! WyKisha gave a different insight to the song and I really feel like she “got it”. Thanks for giving it a listen - from a fellow Houstonian 🤘🏻❤️
Jinjer is a good choice for those who want to discuss some mental issues. Because most band's lyrics is about some mental issues or somehow related to that kind of topics. Few suggestions: - Perennial (live at Wacken 2019) - the song about a seasonal affective disorder. - Wallflower (OMV) - the song about an introversity and struggles related with it. - Pit of Consciousness (live in Kiev/OMV) - the song about some kind of dissociative identity disorder.
I love this so much... as a yoga teacher, metal head, and someone advocating for mental health in many of the ways I choose to live life, it brings me so much joy to see this. All the yes to you amd yours you too! Happy Thanksgiving
This is so cool... conversations about metal and mental health. I don't claim to be mentally healthy... anything but. But as someone that metal music, the heavier the better, has literally kept him alive for over 30 years, gave me a voice to scream with, gave me an outlet for the feelings that built up inside me over the course of my lifetime... It takes music that makes you want to beat someone with a sledgehammer to keep you from actually doing it, whether that person is someone else, or yourself.
Jinjer is full of messages. Tatiana walks that line. Waukesha should hear teacher Teacher from jinjer. Another great message about how we take information
Although she said it was a shock, she seemed pretty chilled, her facial reaction was like "Huh?" Lol. One of the most composed reactions I've seen to Tati. I love her interpretation of the lyrics. Many people associate the lyrics just with Tati, and how she is a Pisces. But we can associate the lyrics with anyone. When she said that there is a part of you, when you're going through depression or contemplating suicide, that is hurting, it hit me and brought back a memory of thinking that as a young man. I don't think that anymore, but when she said that, it resonated with me and I didn't think of that or associated that with this song.
Such a great video this hit really hard, I love how she got to be able to see the lyrics and explain what she thought about them. I wonder what she would think of "Someone's daughter"
Her 25second grin at the 5min mark reminds of the first time I heard Cypress Hill, after Metal was already my primary go-to genre. Cypress Hill is still and always will be my top fav in the Rap/Hip-hop genre.
_"Then suffocate in painful tortures_ _On cutting tables of callous men_ _Under a knife of handsome butchers_ _Emeralds are ripped away"_ This last part of the song was co-written by Eugene (the bass player, who's also a Pisces) and focus more on her inhability to have a stable and long lasting relationship, a theme that she also explored on "I Speak Astronomy".
