If thrash metal pioneers Anthrax weren't survivors their careers certainly would not have lasted 13 years. If they wouldn't have forged the speed bible "Among the Living" and created the highly metal raw crossover "I'm The Man" then they wouldn't have lasted through metal's lean years in the 90's and revamped their sound to lash out anew. "Gone are the days of writing about Indians and comic books." Even after 13 years the band is still hungry to defy convention and break new ground. Danny Spitz had absolutely beautiful hair in the rock star business. Anthrax is missing him as lead guitar player today.

Dan went to school and became a certified Mechanical Complications Specialist, earning Swiss degrees in micro-mechanical engineering, and opened his own luxury watch service. 2009 Spitz had a massive heart attack and had an emergency triple bypass that required stents in many arteries. Spitz also founded the Christian music group Red Lamb. You know u seen some bad shit when u Shave your head and go Christian!

The dude's just disinterested in the interview, everyone's kind of looking around for something else to do or look at during the interview, Joey's playing with his hands, Scott shifts around in his seat and moves his arm around, they just really didn't care for this.
And, he keeps drinking from it, but it sounds pretty empty to me, every time it hits the table, LOL !!!!!

Saw Anthrax in October 05 with the classic lineup. Joey, Scott, Danny, Frank and Charlie. Amazing show. Anthrax and Judas Priest were on the bill.
Thank God they are happier now as musicians and people and as a band. This shit is dark... Then again this was right before Joey got dismissed because he wasn't cool or heavy enough for Scott's great lyrics....lol!!!
And around twelve months later joey was fired, big mistake.
They were so unhappy around this time and its obvious.

They all seem burnt out. This was really the last tour they would be going up the ladder unfortunately. Getting rid of Joey & the tour with Public Enemy Scott now thinks stopped there momentum.

Last time I saw Anthrax was Oct 18th 1991 at the Wilson Theatre in Fresno California....hey wait a minute!
Most bands go through rough times. End of the 80s and most of 90s were rough for metal. For me personally, i loved all eras of Anthrax. Made some great songs and records with Bush, regardless of sales. And they've arguably been better than ever since the reunion with Joey. One of Pantera's best albums, TGST came in the middle of their worst times. You could hear the angst in the music and writing and Phil's vocals. Sometimes shit happens, and a great record comes out...
Dan was always overlooked or underlooked

Very cool. I remember watching a short video in the late 80s where I believe Scott Ian with long hair was talking about killing joke and showing his first printing on camera. Just saw the animated movie and read the comic all this time later and want to see that video again. Anyone know where that was from? Maybe a head bangers ball or something?
It's kind of funny watching this now. At this point in time, I was getting into the Earache scene and I thought that bands like Anthrax, Metallica, Helloween, etc were too "light". But now I like all kinds of stuff, so it's pretty funny thinking back to that mindset that I was in when this tour was going on.
I remember reading metal hammer and Scott was not too supportive of the Earache bands like Carcass

I remember the day I seen it on MTV when they're recording studio and all their equipment burnt
Scott Ian talked about this in his book, I believe the guys from Metallica helped them out quite a bit after that.

Adrian Hugo EP's only have like five songs. Killer B's is an album but just made with stuff they never put out, live recordings, and covers.

I got to meet them on the Among the Living tour on their bus when I was about 16. They were cool. Spitz was a little stand offish but other than that they were nice
@CreamySauce I was on the tour bus hanging out and a Yankees baseball game was on the tour bus t.v. The Yankees were losing. He walks on the bus and full on spits on the TV (no pun intended). Charlie and Scott were cool. Answered some questions and Charlie even told me how to play the A.I.R. drum intro. Spitz just said nothing to no one. He was obviously having a bad day.
@CreamySauce Yeah it was cool. Metal Church opened. We got to hang with them as well. They were really cool. A friend of mine was a college DJ at Villanova and got backstage press passes.
@CreamySauce Frankie and Joey weren't around so I never got a chance to meet them. I was really only on the bus for about 15 - 20 minutes and it was before they went on.

This part of Anthraxs Career was not my thing, Rap and Metal sucks and the era's when Joey wasn't singing in the band and when Danny at first left Anthrax Over it now!

If this is unauthorized how come they were allowed to show them playing nice fucking life live? and the band seems really miserable, especially Charlie. If the band were so happy then why did they get rid of their singer shortly after this and why did Dan quit?

Well, it's just the reality of it all. Playing in a band isn't a non-stop Rock n Roll party where you make tons of money. Most people get fucked over. It's much worse now with downloading. Now you have your "fans" that you fuck you over as well.
***** I know - I been doing it for 25 years now. :) I'm just happy to be playing with friends on the weekend now. I long ago gave up on the "biz". It's a fucking rat race made worse by the the people who run it. I bought Scott's bio and and am happy to say I purchased Worship Music recently and am VERY happy with it. I have no idea why it took me so long since I LOVED "We've come...". I thought I'd miss John but Joey really stepped up his game....
This is just before they dumped Belladona for John Bush...I don't think they were getting on too well. Metal was on the downturn and the Seatle scene was taking off bigtime in the early 90's.
matthew bailey Yeah - I met them the day they opened for Black Sabbath at New Haven Coliseum on the spreading tour. They were so much fun that day it was hard to believe this was the same band. They busted my stones for having a copy of "fistful of metal" for them to sign :)
I feel the same. Other than the drummer they all come off as pricks. I'm sure they were burnt. After watching several interviews though I've gathered that the bass player is a true prick. He's always an asshole every time I see a video. Best job in the world and this guy is disgusted by everything. He acts really cocky too. I don't usually attack people's musicianship either but since he's a jerk I can say he is a horrible bassist. There you go trolls; that's my impression.

Love Anthrax. Nice to see this footage but this interviewer was the WORST!!! Everyone seems annoyed with her especially Charlie. Her questions were sooo cringe worthy. At times I was embarrassed for her. If it wasn’t Anthrax I would have clicked off the vid.

Are you talking about Joey B.? He's a great singer! Neil Turbin and Joey are great! So what kind vocals do you like the grunting raspy noise makers. I call that vocal effects! I call Joey and Neil singers.
...people go on TOO much about 'mullets' / looks etc!!... Okay so I had a bit of one way back!! and have to admit Joey doesn't 'look' so great overall these days, but everything was what it was, is what it is etc... these things do NOT change the attitude, vocals, or the character of a person, which in my mind is WAY more important and regarding vocals, I think Joey's are great (one of the best 'singers') and ironically his vocals on 'Worship Music' are (in my opinion) the best he's done!
Watch the Big 4 videos. Joey has the best vocals of them all.
