    Hi Maggie ! First of all may I just say how helpful your videos have been to me. I am a sixty year old woman & had to have an ileostomy nearly two years ago. I have had all sorts of problems ranging from skin issues to hernias & now gastroparesis. It has been a steep learning curve which has severely restricted my life. However, I find your videos truly inspirational & I always think if this young woman can do it, then so can I. We are never too old to learn & I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Wishing you & Zack all the very best. From Kit in York, England. XX

    So glad you also talk about mental health issues; anxiety and depression are so closely linked to autoimmune diseases, especially IBD.

    Have you tried an inhaler on your skin? I had some HORRIBLE skin issues to the point of weeping skin and breaking down. A wound nurse suggested an inhaler used for asthma...I sprayed it on my skin before putting on a new bag for a few weeks and it changed my skin dramatically! Like I had never had skin issues

    Your videos are truly inspirational! I don’t even have an Ostomy, but I did have my colon removed on August 1st and was able to have an IRA connection. My reason was severe colonic inertia but I researched before my surgery so I would be prepared for a bag if needed. You are so positive and talk about real life truth. Before surgery, my husband asked if I was prepared if I had to have an ostomy and I told him about your videos and said yes, Maggie has prepared me. Anyway, I just want you to know that your videos reach so many people and they have been a blessing to me. I’m 47, had colonic inertia, don’t have an ostomy, but I still check for your videos often as they are so inspiring. I just wanted you to know that you are an awesome young lady and you are reaching people who may be very different from you and your situation, so keep it up (when you can)! You are amazing and I’m so happy I found your videos. Btw: Colon removal was not nearly as bad as I had convinced myself it would be. My 9 feet of colon was removed laparoscopically and I was home within 4 days. It’s no walk in the park, but for me, it really wasn’t terrible.

    Your videos have been helping me tremendously! I've got a severe stricture 33mm up in my desending colon. Tomorrow at 6:30am I'll be going to get a lot of my colon removed and a loop illeostomy. I've also got thickening going on at my illeum and a mass in the center of my transverse colon. Long story short, I'm a mess lol. Thank you for your videos, all I did was cry when I first found out but I've come to accept things now. I'll be praying for you!

    First, I suffered horribly from PMDD, and took Sarafem. Do some research on it before your appointment and ask about switching meds. Second, I went to the Cleveland clinic for some tests and my Calprotectin was 168.1, and my pancreas isn't working right either. The colonoscopy couldn't be done due to solids in my sigmoid colon, but the GI wasn't concerned. Nor was he concerned about the fact that the prep stopped working abruptly around 5 am that morning. My PCP has referred me to a local GI we found on the Crohn's coalition website. Hopefully I'll get some more answers next month after seeing her.

    I just had surgery to remove my colon and rectum this last October. Before that, I had had a ‘temporary’ loop ilieostomy for five years. A similar thing happened to me where my doctor was unable to do the colonoscopy because of the permanent scarring starting in my rectum and traveling into my colon. I was a nervous fracking wreck the month leading up to my surgery (I’m talking multiple panic attacks every day). However, it went wonderfully and I don’t regret it for even a second. I’m even starting to forget what it was like to have urgency. It’s hella freeing not having a rectum, just being real. I don’t know how close you are to NYC, but I had my surgery done at Mt. Sinai and it was a wonderful experience. If you want the name of my surgeon (who I highly recommend), feel free to dm me. :)
    Best to you! Thank-you for always being so encouraging to us.

      I had my loop ileostomy surgery in March and I just had my ileostomy reversal surgery on July 1st. I’m still really struggling with a few things with my J pouch. When does it get better? 😩

    • @nikkiaddison5998
      @nikkiaddison5998 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kristyna Hernandez So, if I’m understanding this correctly, they were able to reconnect everything and you no longer have an ostomy? On that end, I have no experience. I dreamt of being able to get rid of my bag, but having to have my rectum removed took away that option. Bag lady for life! Lol Hang in there, though. It may sound cliche, but it will get better.

    • @DreamerKristy
      @DreamerKristy 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes they were able to reconnect everything and I don’t have my Ostomy anymore. Oh and that’s interesting to hear that you don’t have that option since I also had my rectum removed and was able to get reconnected. I know it’ll get better, after having my colon removed life has been so much easier without constant pain. But now I’m just dealing with other issues. It almost feels like a never ending cycle! But I’m trying to stay positive the best I can. Thank you for responding!

    My emergency surgery was 6/2/18... I never made an appointment after coming home. I've put it off because I had a very scary ordeal. Many issues including but not limited to sepsis, and an allergic reaction which caused a FULL body rash that felt like an unbearable sunburn. It even affected my nasal passage. Any way.. We thought it was redman syndrome from vancomycin (strong antibiotic) they had me on but taking it away didn't make it better (which should have been then case)... So I'm terrified of going through that again not to even mention the surgery. Also every single time I have output it feels like i need to go...umm from my rectum...but like you mentioned not being able to even fit a finger in there that's my issue as well but this gets pretty gross... I can feel something in there and it is VERY uncomfortable... I have emotional issues.. I became a single mom overnight and that very next morning i was in the hospital with my colostomy surgery. I'm TERRIFIED of finally seeing a surgeon. I know it sounds crazy because i should have been able to get this taken down 3-6 months after the 6-2-18 surgery...but I'm still an ostomate...honestly I feel like so much mote in control this way and I think that's why I'm ok with sticking with the ostomy.
    THANK you very much for sharing. Your videos really have helped me. Of course I've learned a bunch but you've helped so much especially for me to not feel so alone. Thank you so much for being your authentic self💞

    As someone that has always had weird periods... it could weirdly enough be a response to your Crohns going a bit wacky a few months back and then going on Humira. Hi Melissa!! Thank you!! For Humira - I was afraid of the same thing. I always keep in my mind that the scary side effects have a low risk of happening, and that using the medicine to calm the crohns with potential for side effects is better than not using the medicine and (more likely than not) feeling the IBD symptoms kick in. Kind of weighing risks vs benefits!

    • @melissa-Ann
      @melissa-Ann 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LetsTalkIBD you're welcome and thank you for the reply. ☺
      💙exactly💙 that's what we've been told about the humira that it has low side effects. Plus, it's the newer version of it that has a smaller needle which equals less pain upon injection & it's the citrus-free version as well. Plus were lining up a humira nurse as well too. Keep reminding my loved one risks vs benefits as well. Its hard, all you want is for your loved one to get relief and to feel better, ya know, when other things haven't worked.
      🌼Have a great night, and no apologizing, life happens. Remember, you got this.🌼

    I used to feel loony on birth control pills, on the blank days. I’m not recommending the pill, because I didn’t feel that psycho when I didn’t take hormones at all. In my forties my periods became irregular in the worst way. I then got this internal uterine cauterization that was supposed to stop the dang period altogether but it didn’t. Less heavy and painful which was something at least. Finally FINALLY I entered menopause at 50+ with hope that depression/generalized anxiety disorder I’d had since adolescence would leave me. Not even, so don’t count on your hormones doing you any favors-however bc pill really does help a lot of young women with PMS and wild mood swings. You’ll probably try several formulations anyway, so why not start experimenting?
