I always thought a Lythari druid or ranger would be fun to play, being able to transform into a silver wolf at will, definitely adds a new dimension to travel.

I always love hearing and learning about elf lore, so helpful in running them in campaigns. Thanks for the info, I'll be sure to let my players learn of that elven gesture the next time we play. lol
Currently co-dming a year long campaign with my partner, and one of the many story themes we want to explore involves deep elven and fey lore (deities, locations, etc.)and this definitely helped give me some inspiration. The yuan-ti video was also very entertaining. Love the channel, thank you so much.
The the middle finger gesture is actually quite old, far older in fact than the European colonization of the Americas. It was in use in ancient Greece and Rome, and in the latter it was known as the digitus impudicus which roughly translates to the shameless or indecent finger. Somewhat humorously to the Greeks & Romans it originally represented a phallus, hence that indecency.
@edgreenwoodofficial oh I meant the information you gave , accents metaphorically, but thank you for the tips. When I play high elves I use a high pitched back of the throat , like richard O'Brien in Rocky Horror. Wood Elves I do a broken common has trouble with complex concepts then switch to a more smooth communication in elvish. I'll definitely use your info when I bring in star and moon elves, thanks ed!
An off-topic question for Ed, that perhaps you might address in a video of its own: Does Toril have named lines of Tropical latitude, like our earthly Cancer and Capricorn? Does Faerûn have an established "prime meridian" line of longitude, like our zero degree Greenwich line?
@@edgreenwoodofficial Hail, well met, and thanks so much! I've been noodling around with making an interactive globe of Toril in Google Earth, on and off for years, and this question always nagged at me. I look forward to your video!
Alright... so what does the gesture indicate? You know, like the medieval English 2-finger equivalent lets that Frog cavalryman know that you got away with your archery fingers. It must mean something.
Good stuff. I wonder though given the many legendary elven ruins in the Realms, most notably Myth Drannor, are there any equivalent ruins of Ilythiir and the dark elves?
Star elves, and elves in general come off as more gruff and unfriendly then the dwarves are! Also Mr. Greenwood, do the elves "bury" magical or other valuable goods with their dead or are they smart and let the living use them and reduce chances of grave robbing? Also, is there ANY elven settlement that isn't in the middle of major woods? Speaking of major woods, just how big is the high woods anyway? You don't need exact square miles here but say is it around the size of the state of Georgia, North Dakota or Colorado?
We need forgotten realms novels again. I remember a time I could go to Barnes and nobles and read for hours all year, now only Drizzt seems to find a place on the shelf. i have two questions about Star elves maybe you would be kind enough to answer them. are the star elves descended from any of the other branches of the elven tree IE sun moon green elves ETC. or are they thier own thing independent of all the others. was there an ancient city they were associated with in the crown wars.
Star elves should move to the great wild wood (shalhoond) it's more safe for them and they can build a lot of star elves city in that forest...
