Hey. Congratulations on the shiny! I agree, there’s some shenanigans with the radar in the game. If I go to fast I risk missing the Pokémon in the right route. Lol. Cheers
Congrats dude! I was planning on doing this hunt too, but seeing how long these resets took to load each time has made me consider doing them in the originals instead, despite the worse odds
I actually really like the remake. To be fair I’m not an experienced player and Pearl was my first and only pokemon game until let’s go so I’m very biased and don’t have much to compare with (I’m playing crystal now and I’ve also played arceus). I understand the complaints and it’s true they could’ve done better with some things, but I still had so much fun. I randomly came across a video about shiny hunting and now I’m tempted to shiny hunt for Mesprit even though I’ve never really tried to shiny hunt before!
The other day I got this same shiny, just it was the FIRST encounter, and I wasn't even trying, I just wanted to catch Mesprit so I could complete the Sinnoh Pokedex before the Elite Four. I even shared the screenshots on a Facebook page because I just had to share it. It was my first shiny in 5 years too. So yeah, now that Mesprit is one of my favorite Pokémon ever.
About affection/friendship, the main thing that bothers me about it is the extra hopping/sway animation that happens every time you send out a high friendship pokemon. Makes battles take longer, and as a shiny hunter, every second counts. I find myself force-feeding my pokemon revival herbs just so that the animation stops happening. But it'll eventually come back again. Super annoying, even beyond the cheese that happens in battles from it lol
when I was battling the Elite 4, my Pokemon survived on 1 HP like 3 turns in a row because it loved me. I agree that it took it too far in this game but it felt kinda cool surviving over and over. Definitely felt broken, but was cool to witness.
I just got to the part where you were looking for Mesprit in the box and you were on top of it almost the entire time and didn’t see, I thought you were searching for a different mon because of how many times you missed it 😂
First!, i don't know if I'm ready for roamers but I'll get the other 2 at some point! In my opinion I like the friendship mechanic, it feels like, to me (a beginner), that you form a real bond with your companions, as you work together they become more affeccionate and work harder bc they now share your goal of becoming the champion, bc you're passionate about it, what i dont like about these games is follow pokemon still dont work and there is no "true size" like have you seen Rayquaza's model for following you, it's tiny! 10!
I personally enjoyed playing this with my ex. I showed her all the secrets in the game right up until Sunnyshore and she went on her own from then on. It was fun and nostalgic!
I like the idea of bonding with your Pokémon and pulling off stuff you might not be able to otherwise, I heard some thought it slowed the game down though
Dude... it took me 8126 encounters to find roaming Cresselia in these games lol. Really awesome to get it so early! but I have to admit I'm a bit jealous lol This hunt also has a long cutscene every time you first interact with Mesprit, a long hunt for it would be even more brutal lol
I actually hunted both of these roamers shiny and gotten shiny Mesprit in 1,800 resets but used the Solaceon Town method. And shiny Cresselia took 2,988 resets.
Congrats! Such a great shiny! This video made me want to pick up BDSP again for some reason. I wonder if this game will be another "hated at launch, beloved years later" situation.
I don’t think legends arceus overshadowed these games, I think they were a SUPER lazy remake and people just lost interest super fast. They are just bad as remake and as a game.
@@NoctuaOlivae it’s actually a copy of platinum, they just used platinum code, that’s why they had the same exact bugs, because pretty much all they did was copy and paste the code with a few tweaks
@@thirstylizard1809 well that's even worse if they copied platinum's code but didn't include any platinum content lol. I was just saying that it wasn't the "same game" in terms of content.
Exactly. What is more likely to hold someone's attention? A faithul remake of a decade old game with minimal improvements or a brand new experience with new pokemon and new gameplay mechanics? It's pretty obvious BDSP was done in from the first glimpse of the game.
wow congrats! im working on this hunt now, hoping it won't go on for too long🤞 also i know what you mean about the marking map, it definitely feels a bit weird tbh
Congrats on that shiny Mesprit! Mine shined pretty quickly in Omega Ruby; pretty sure it was under 700 encounters XD Still on the hunt for shiny Joltik. I know I'll get it eventually, but I also don't mind phasing for it since this is my first DTQ in Black and White.
Congrats on the Shiny Mesprit! I got it via SR in ORAS. I don’t have the patience for roaming quests haha Just fyi: the benefits from high affection in battle have existed since affection’s inception in X/Y; they weren’t introduced in BDSP.
The affection mechanic in BDSP was re-introduced in a way that you can't control it. You passively gain it as you progress through the game. In X and Y etc it was optional.
I don’t hate these games but they’re definitely the worst of the franchise, just lazy. Like look at Oras they added Gen 4 evos, Megas, New designs for all the characters, dex nav, upgraded contests, new characters, a better post game, and upgraded old areas. What did BDSP do? Bigger Underground and that’s all I can think of
worst of the franchise are definitely Sword and shield, piss easy, boring story, bad pokemon design, eye cancer graphics, gimmick that sucks (gigamax), starters are the worst of all time, cut pokedex the only good thing about those games were that you can get the galar bird trio
@@ZzN1ghtMaRe alright this isn’t a very good take Piss easy, my brother in Christ you probably used only type effective Pokémon and leveled up to the level cap, no wonder it was easy Boring story, story wasn’t boring, if you mean the climax then yeah I can understand that but the rest of the story was fine Bad Pokémon design. Literally doesn’t matter because a shit ton of the dex was added in DLC also who uses old Pokémon in a new playthough SwSh were fun games with great characters,Pokémon, and honestly a game I can always find myself coming back to unlike the lazy BDSP
@@mr.satire9681 eh, you have an opinion. I don’t think your take was very good itself. SwSh wasn’t good until the DLC came out. Bdsp is a game we already love just with trash graphics. lol swsh is easy af, you shouldn’t have to apply certain restrictions upon yourself to make a game difficult, and the story… ffs… the last people you fight have sword and shield shaped hair… that’s all I gotta say. lol
@@VanceWeebin Yeah but sword and shield felt more like a game that the devs wanted you to enjoy unlike a filthy cash grab like BDSP, why buy them when you can just buy Diamond and Pearl
Here’s one rememberable moment I had with the affection mechanic To defeat Cynthia I took the affection mechanic into account Her garchomp being stronger and faster meant that I couldn’t defeat her conventionally so I took multiple gambles, sacrificing a few team members as I was reviving my main ice attacker in the hopes that it would survive via affection mechanic (or from Cynthia missing) so that I could land the final attack that finished Cynthia off
yeah i feel like these remakes werent that interesting, they were faithful 1 to 1 remakes which is honestly pretty boring. there werent any quality of life updates or things that brought these forward next to more recent pokemon releases. when i think of good pokemon remakes i think of soul silver and heart gold, they fixed a lot that was wrong with the originals, put a modern spin on it, and had fun added content. they sat next to the other 4th gen games pretty well. brilliant diamond and shining pearl just makes me wonder why im not just playing an actual copy of platinum or something cause they really didnt bring anything new to the table that the originals didnt have.
I heavily agree about the affection mechanic. Part of being good and enjoying Pokémon is losing and knowing where your team is weak. Makes the game more rewarding to play. They should release an update where we could toggle this mechanic on and off.
This "remake" will always be a slap in the face to pokemon fans imo. Arguably, this game/generation brought pokemon back to the main scene again due to the wonderful changes and designs it had. And yet GF treated this special generation subparly and makes me less hopeful for 5th gen remakes in the future.
Actually, this generation took Pokémon away from the main scene and took away a lot of the original fans, but HG/SS saved the Gen4 from being a failure. It took Pokémon Go to put the franchise into the main scene again.
I was dying of laughter watching that Mesprit mess with you, it was so close to being on route so many times 😂
Guess that Mesprit had a..."Sparkling" sense of humor. 🤣
Just like any other roamers 😂
Lol! It made him work for it.
Congrats on another roamer! Glad it was another "quick" one for you! ✨️
As soon as I heard the cave music I got flashbacks.
My roaming mesprit hunt went way over odds.
lmao the part where you couldn't find mesprit in the box gave me a good chuckle. Congrats on the best roamer + best roamer shiny!
15:50 you can't be serious.

Yeah, affection mechanic really made the game way too easy. I felt like replacing my Pokemon everytime they grew too affectionate which made me sad.
It kills any replay factor for me.

Shiny hunting a test of true patience which I don’t have. I thank arceus I found a shiny Electabuzz even tho the shiny is absolutely trash lmao
That's where LA is good and bad. Easy shinies but not as special..
oh you can flee and have it come back still?? that's great to know

My Mesprit in Platinum was in a Heal Ball. Wanted it to be a bit different.
