These are the words that filled my head and heart yesterday when I went with my daughter skydiving for her birthday. I wanted to be sunny, happy and psyched for her. I watched this on Wednesday..a few times. It helped me to make sense of my feelings and turn the whole game around. IT IS PURE BLISS when you step through that door...you really feel that you are flying...and then the shoot opens and you are flying in awe-filled peace, quiet and calm. Holy crap...scaredy cat turned convert.
Its just weird with anxiety i have NO fucking reason to be anxious. But my hands will go numb i get lightheaded and its hard to breathe. I dont get it and it sucks. I wanna be masculine yanno?
Will was exactly right! I did a skydive in September and it was just like floating on a bed of air. As I left the plane it felt like the plane was shooting up rather than me falling down. I wasn't even scared in the plane but I was super scared before getting kitted up! I even went back to the car and seriously thought about driving home! So glad I went through with the skydive. I have since ridden on the top wing of a Boeing Stearman bi-plane!
I started skydiving in May 1976. I can remember my first jump as if it had happened only 15 minutes ago. Will Smith provides a wonderful description of the total exhilaration of skydiving. Tremendous video and awesome message at the end.
This is so true! I'm so pleased someone told me to watch this! I'm 63 years old and I had a few wines when someone in my local pub asked if anyone would do a tandem sky dive for charity with him. I said no! Then I thought about it and decided for once in my life to go for it! Woke up the next morning totally regretting my decision. A friend told me to watch this, which I did on the morning of my sky dive - totally correct - I didn't sleep much as was thinking of all that could happen - however, up until the moment I was hanging out of the plane I was still scared stiff and the moment we exited the plane, the fear WENT AWAY! Totally replaced with the awesomeness of it all - it was absolutely the best thing I've ever done and still buzzing 9 days later and sooooooooooooooo wished I'd done this years ago!
63.... 😱.. And did that... Kudos to you... I am not where near that age and I couldn't do it. I would literally loose my bowel control and would be like that hysterical toddler holding onto rails and peoples legs crying... And I am not ashamed to admit that either.
"Why do you need that fear for? Fear of what!" These words touched me very deeply and I always watched this video before I go to an interview or an important event in my life. Will Smith thank you for inspiring me. Now I have a beautiful job, working with great people. I'm learning to brand new things every single day.
For those who are thinking about skydiving for the first time… this video is a must!! He articulated that so perfectly. Couldn’t have said it better myself 😅

Just did my skydive few days ago on the Big Island and I too have this supposed fear of heights. Let me tell you, this was one of the BEST experience I've ever had in life. You're literally just flying for 30sec(10,000ft) without that feeling you get from a rollercoaster...NONE! It's all in your mind! Now I can't wait to try out other locations like Dubai and Bora Bora! JUST DO IT!
i saw this vid a lot of times & really love it sooo much..thanx will for sharing your experience with us👍❤👍.on my #bucketlist: skydiving in dubai with will smith
I always come back to this video! The fear of the fear is always scarier then the reality. Speaking, putting ourselves out there. Skydiving. That first kiss. Etc etc etc. Buying your first rental property too! I am going to share this video with my clients. Just ❤ it.
I remember my first jump. I bought a skydive sometime in April two years to go with a friend and had a bit of an anxiety when we were supposed to do it. The certificate was going to expire after six months and around that time my car was broken into, significantly damaged and stolen by a towing company. Not sure how to describe the feeling but it was enough to where that fear was gone. I had the skydive at my disposal and figured, why not. It was a blast. I did it five more times after, including one I was scheduled to work two hours after that jump cuz I couldn't get a day off work.
I'm going for my 34th birthday to jump in 2 days. Since I was little I dreamt about jumping and I am excited about it. 2 years ago I saw this video, every time I watched it, made me excited, worried. So this is it, I will jump. Now I watch the video over and over again to build up self-confidence because I'm afraid of the unknown. Thanks Will, "bliss is on the other side of fear" will be my mantra. 😁
@@anonymousmink5027 awesome! Just pure joy and 1000% adrenaline. Except when i panicked when the plane door opened. It was really loud at 3000 m and windy, and the cameraman dissapeared in 1 second. At least that was my perception. The jump from the plane was a little bit scarry at that altitude, but the instructor pushed me 😂i had no say in that 😂. And the rest is how Will describes it. I didn't feel the butterflies in my stomack at all like on a roller coaster. I will for sure this year jump again 😁
I’ve booked my first jump next month for my 37th birthday! It’s because of this video that I decided to do it! Thank you for the inspiration @WillSmith
My skydive is on my channel. I was properly scared all morning but I was totally relaxed throughout the flight from getting in the plane until landing on the ground again. I was sat near to the door but 3 other tandems went before me and they went down real quick but when I left the aircraft it felt like the aircraft WENT UP real quick! It's as Will Smith describes it. It doesn't feel like you are falling at 125 mph. It feels exactly how it looks. It feels like you are floating on a bed of air. It feels like the ground is coming towards you rather than you going towards the ground. When the parachute opened I said to my tandem instructor "What was I worried about?" For me it isn't the height that scares me it is the fear of the unknown as I step out of my comfort cone. Before the skydive I did some Zip-lining, Indoor Skydiving (highly recommended as this gives you the feeling of free-fall but without the height) and I have since done a wing walk atop a Boeing Stearman bi-plane.
MR.X. Thanks! I've literally just returned from doing another Indoor Skydive session. I highly recommend you do an Indoor Skydive before doing the real thing. I think the two Indoor Skydive sessions I did before my proper skydive helped to prepare me in some way for the real deal. I wish you luck with your skydive next year. It is VERY scary but do it anyway and you'll most probably want to do more! I certainly want to do more next year! It's just getting through that fear and doing that first skydive. I'm 45 years old and wish that I had started skydiving 20+ years ago!
I am feeling exactly this my sky dive is this month on the 30th and I am both nervous and excited at the same time I have slight anxiety but I am determined to follow it through
I went skydiving on Monday (Labor day) and the moment you tet to the edge of the door is pretty terrifying, but once you exit about 4 seconds in the air is pure bliss just like Will said. Wish I had seen this before as like I evsaid the night before is the worst sleep ever...and I had 3 if them in a row as I was supposed to jump on Saturday, got canceled for overcast, the Sunday also got canceled...but perfect weather Monday. It's an amazing feeling.

More of people are afraid of achieving stuff in life in general and afraid something bad is going to happen to them, but in reality there's a positive outcome from it. People are afraid to take risk in life. People get so comfortable of being where they are at right now instead of pursuing what's bigger than themselves.
