I just made this tonight, we are preparing for a cold, rainy winter blast, I thought what better comfort than a hearty tomato soup? I just made it and ate a bowl…delicious doesn’t even begin to describe it. It is the best I’ve ever made! Thank you for yet another wonderful recipe! 👍🏾
I love the color of this organic soup! It looks sumptuous and beautiful. All the colors of the rainbow, purple, beet red, showy red from the cherry tomatoes , subtle red from the plum tomatoes, beige brown from the garlic and green--beautiful green all thrown in the mix to make a gorgeous soup.

Yeung Man, you definitely cook at a heavenly level! The idea of adding a cooked beet is incredible. I use it in gazpacho (a Spanish cold tomato soup) and it gives it an incredible color and flavor. I never thought about the option you have proposed. This is a must!! I do use Witamix too and I am very greatful to this machine, it literraly liquifies everything!
The whole family loved this last night, thank you! And although the stick blender gives it an enjoyable rustic feel, we all felt the Vitamix blend put it over the top. Oh, and I try to reduce plastic as much as I can, and cherry tomatoes aren't available otherwise currently, so sharing that cluster tomatoes worked beautifully.
Yum! I just made this soup. I had everything available except for the beet and maple syrup. For instance, I substituted a tbs of wild honey for maple syrup. I always liked tomato soup, but this was over the top delicious roasted tomato soup that I would be proud to serve to guests. All those wonderful flavors. I look forward to this roasted tomato on my winter soup rotation. Thanks! I have all your cookbooks, btw😊

I do make my own tomato soup. But I am going to try this recipe as it looks wonderful. I have a Vitamix story. So, my Vitamix has always played up ever since I bought it. I never did anything about it until last year when it started smoking. I rang Vitamix to see if it was still under warranty. I was over by 1 month, but the lady took pity on me and said to send it in and they would service it free of charge, which they did. When I got it back, it was a new machinem motor, bowl, everything. So, please God, when I need a new blender it will be a Vitamix I buy. Great video.
I have fallen in love with Tuscan tomato bread soup, which I make often, but this is a whole new twist on rustic tomato soup. Can’t wait to try it! LOVE my Vitamix!!!! Mine is over 20 years old and still runs like the day I got it. There is nothing better!
I made this tomato soup for the second time a few days ago for my family; once again everyone loved it and nothing left over. I'm usually not a fan of tomato soup because it tends to be bland, but this recipe has a depth of flavor that is lovely. This is just another Wil Yeung recipe that is delicious and healthful.
I think the most interesting ingredient is the beet. I love the earthiness of the humble beet. I bet it gives this soup that unexpected pop of flavor that you are unable to identify. Watching this video is making me very hungry. Thank you.

The cashew cream is a great choice, I’ll try mine with that next time! My usual roasted tomato soup is similar to yours but I go way more OCD with the tomatoes being halves and removing the peel after oven roasting.

We made this with sub-par, winter season grocery store tomatoes, and admittedly, we were skeptical. However, the final product turned out amazing.. Such a nice twist on traditional soupe de la tomate. I can't imagine how good this will be with garden fresh tomatoes this summer / fall.
I made a simpler version with ingredients I had on hand and time I had. No beet, no fresh herbs, used oat milk instead of cashew cream, and roasted about half an hour and still this was absolutely delicious. Very simple to make. Will definitely make this again with a shopping trip for all the ingredients : )

If you have the oven space and the time, you could get a better roast on the tomatoes and onions if you split all that quantity between 2 or 3 sheet pans instead of 1 (where they're more likely to steam)

I make this soup with garam masala, cumin seeds and coconut for an Indian spiced soup[. Cashew cream substitues for dairy cream. Best thing ever on a cold night.

I add a little Parmigiano to my basil tomato soup. Just a little chunk of the rine for flavourful than I take it out after a bit . Adds a nice nutty flavor 😊
