The truly scary part is that all the teams are pretty young and still have more potential, we could be looking at a very strong nfc north for the next few years
Correction KOC wanted to draft McCarthy, but KOC wanted Darnold to be the starter. Darnold was his ideal QB. The plan was always Sam. This has been documented. They general assumption as well is that Darnold will demand at least 45 a year, but we don't know that yet. Seeing how well he did with the three QBs after Cousins’ injury, he definitely should be able to. Last season proved the future is mobile. The Vikes are in such a great position, so many options. I’m glad the Falcons picked up Kirko’s baggage instead of the Vikings having so much cap space locked up.

As a Niners fan, I remember telling a guy at work not to sleep on Darnold after the McCarthy injury. There were some flashes from Sam when he filled in for Purdy.
I knew we were better than the 7-win ceiling most people had us pegged at, but 11-2 after week 14 with a few RESOUNDING wins over great defenses sprinkled in here and there was NOT on my radar. This Vikings team is poised for a deep playoff run.

Something not touched upon, but perhaps you could in a future vid, is how these teams will fare when some of their key coaches inevitably get snapped up for bigger roles at other teams. Keep up the good work.
Absolutely a no to Vrabel. I don't think he is a bad coach BUT they need a HC that is offensive minded and no just a good OC is not the same. With a good OC you lose them after a couple of years and back to square one offensively.
I'm a vikings fan and every season I think they will win every game until the first loss, make the playoffs until mathematically impossible, then look forward to the ext season while I just enjoy watching them play.
For people down on the Bears, think about it like this. Despite a horrible OC, a horrible HC, and a guy that got promoted from passing game coordinator to HC within a month, the Bears’ losses are to the Niners, the Commanders on a hail mary(coaching malpractice), the Lions(again, coaching malpractice), the Vikings(see the other two), the Packers(see the other two) the Cardinals, Colts, Patriots and Texans. 5 of their losses are to playoff teams and they have one more to a fringe playoff team in the Niners. Only 3 of them are by more than one possession, and 4 of them are the direct result of horrible coaching with the game on the line. If they had an even competent HC and OC, they are likely 8-5 and squarely in the playoffs. I don’t want Vrabel personally. A guy like Johnson, Brady, etc would be the dream. The Bears need to go offense and thoroughly interview these guys on their game plans and what they would do in certain situations with the game on the line.
I think if you move the bears to any other division this year they would be in contention for the division title if not winning it. They just had the unfortunate luck of playing in a division that is full of monsters in this current season. Three top ten record wise teams in the league and Packers are just a game behind being a top 5 record in the league team.
what division the bears play in has nothing to do with anything. the bears completely fell apart before they ever played any team in the NFC North with Washington in week 8, getting killed by the cardinals 29-9 in week 9, and only putting up 3 points against the patriots who scored 19 in week 10, all before playing their first in-division game against the packers in week 11 the team was completely dead by then. This team, coaching especially, just sucks, it wouldn't matter where you put them.
The real question mark with the lions is how they will stay elite once Ben Johnson moves on. Plenty of teams make a big jump for 2-4 years only to fall right back down when the coaching talent gets poached.
@@acrayon3699 but he is the one that supercharges it. Not many in the NFL get away with picking up 1st downs on running plays on 3rd and longer. Dan Campbell and Ben Johnson have excellent synergy. In hindsight people being this low on the Vikings was insane. Coming into the season I thought they’d be in the 8-9 to 10-7 range because the only two question marks were at QB and defense with new faces and some notable departures like Hunter. Everything else on that team had the markings of a true playoff contender. They had arguably the best skill position group in the league with the best WR in the league, a top 5 TE, a sophomore WR who showed a ton of promise in year 1, and a huge upgrade at RB, their biggest offensive weakness from 2023. They also had two elite tackles, which a ton of people seem to gloss over. They also had KOC, someone who proved he could win with backup QBs during the second half of 2023 and is just a reliable person to lead the offense. People who wrote off this offense just because it was Sam Darnold at the helm were very clearly not looking into the situation enough, and it shows now. On defense, it was more understandable to have some questions, but they still had one of the best safety rooms in the league and some fresh, younger faces on the front 7 from FA, the draft, and UDFA. Not to mention they had Brian Flores, who is always gonna have amazing defensive schemes regardless of personnel. It’s easy to call out everyone else for not labelling this team as a contender right now, but as a Vikings fan who was saying these very things in August, it feels good being proven right, especially with so many people projecting us to be bottom feeders with less than 4 wins.
@@MustacheDLuffy Yeah they had Sam as QB going in, but the media and fans should have respected KOC. He already had shown to elevate lesser QBs. Darnold actually has talent.
@@MustacheDLuffy True, but Sam Darnold alone was never enough to turn a playoff contending roster into a bottom tier team. Darnold himself also had middling records with Carolina, not bottom of the league (in contention for the division title heading into Week 17 2022). The fact of the matter is that a team with this much talent at every offensive position that isn’t QB simply doesn’t ever finish with a Top 5 pick. Heck, Justin Jefferson alone probably gets you 2-3 wins by himself by just being healthy and on the team.
Amazing, how much better the Vikings got, just by not paying Cousins. And remember: They reached the NFC Championship with Keenum, so Cousins was supposed to be the missing link to a Superbowl. Instead they won one Wild Card Game in 6 years. And don't get me wrong: Cousins is better than Keenum and Darnold. But Cousins at up to 40 Million Dollar in a Salary Cap League? Not so much. I hope the Vikings remember that, when it comes to paying Darnold... because throwing a shitload of money at average Quaterbacks, that can work in a great system, but won't elevate a good one, is not a winning formula...
Seeing a team like the packers just hurts me deeply as a bears fan, knowing our organization will never be that well run despite living in one of the top 10 cities in the world… I fucking hate the bears
Bears fans also need to lower their expectations and give young players time to develop. Like damn Caleb is clearly better than any QB we’ve ever had. Doesn’t mean he’s gonna be Superman in season 1.
Erase the losses against the lions and vikings are 11-1 and green bay is 9-2. The one thing holding back the best in the NFC north so far is the Best of the NFC north.
I said Sam was gonna go off, you think he'd suck with a top 10 WR all time and one of the best #2 receivers I personally ever seen with my own eyes? You out yo damn mind
The Bears will be bad until they hire a GM and HC in one offseason. That won't be this year when the rumors are Ryan Poles is sticking around, despite being a GM who invests in LB, RB, and the secondary over OL when young QBs are on the roster. I'm done with Poles as a Bears fan. He'll throw the draft and pick like safety, edge, and te with those top 50 picks.
KAM has killed it in FA, unfortunately he's done the complete opposite in the draft in his first 2 years. The 2022 draft was an all time worst draft, it was honestly a fireable offense with how fking terrible it has become with nearly everyone from that class off the team within 2 years. KAM better figure out how draft and fast or the potential this team has shown will completely disappear just as soon as the money runs out, because the same issues that plagues Rick Spielman will plague KAM as well with a top heavy expensive and aging roster with no depth or developing players.
I don't think the QB market for Darnold is as wide open as folks think and here me out. Let's talk about why Sam came to MN in the first place. 1) the Vikings wanted him and he knew he would have a chance to start because Kirk left. 2) learn from KOC 3) offensive weapons and good O line.. Even if you discount the first 2 reasons, what team can offer number 3? Like yea, the Giants, Jets and Raiders are desperate for a QB..but does Sam want to go back to chaotic franchises in disarray? I think not, and you can add the Saints to this list too. Ok well, lets see what teams *dont* need a QB because they have their guy/contingency. Going by the divisions: KC, LAC, DEN SF, SEA, AZ HOU, JAC; TAM, ATL(Cousins/Penix), CAR(Bryce Young has shown signs of life and Sam already did Carolina) CHI, GB, DET,.MN(JJ) CIN, PIT, BAL NE, BUF, PHI, WAS, DAL So dumpster fires and teams set.on their QB aside, what is left? Teams.that would have to move off their QB to pursue Sam. The top team of this 3rd bunch is LA, assuming Stafford retires or LA moves on. Rams have the coaching and weapons and Sam is from Cali...but it's contingent upon Stafford being gone The second team is Cleveland. Good defense, good offensive coach,.weapons ...but they would have to move off Watson Tennessee...borders on being a dumpster fire, question marks at.coach and they would have to move on from Levis. Miami-they would have to move off Tua who they just paid..but they do have a good coach and weapons. So, I can see a scenario where Darnold takes a 2 year deal...he would only be 30 when the deal is over and the QB market would probably be more wide open in reality than it is now. Because right now, it really isn't that great in terms of going to a clear cut good situation.
Besides the chiefs, when has a team actually won a SB with a QB on a rookie deal, I think teams need to stop with that method, get a vet with young pieces around him
Seahawks too but other than that you have examples of guys who made it on rookie deals like Goff, Burrow, Hurts, Purdy but lost. Eagles kind of in 2017 with Wentz being MVP front runner before the injury but then Foles picked up where he left off to win it.
I laughed at 4:03. First of all, Jim Harbaugh would not want to come to this Chicago team that is rotten from the top. Second, Poles is a SERIAL liar and terrible at his job. I highly doubt he really considered bringing in Harbaugh last year and letting Flus go (would not make sense at the point of the rebuild), just a story Poles made up to hide the fact that he is a terrible GM that wastes draft picks left and right when his team building philosophy was to "build through the draft". laughable. Poles is the architect of this most miserable era of this Bears team, and it's mind blowing how media and fans don't see how he is the biggest problem for the Bears.
Here's what I'd love/hate to see, as a 4+ decade Cheesehead: Give Darnold a 2 year, 75ishM guaranteed extension. You SEE how KOC can get him performing...ride that. Like JJMac heal and dp what my Pack does...let your dude ride the pine for a couple seasons and *really grow into the role*. That sets you up for JJMac in 2027 with 2 years still on his rookie deal and the time in the building to be a master of the offense and see how THAT goes before having to either pay or tag him again...even MORE flexibility. The Vikes are in a good place and the future is bright (as much as I kind of hate that). The Bears are fucked. Nothing will change until McCaskey finally croaks and the rest of the family sells the team to someone that has actual rich people money and wants to spend it on making the Bears an actual competent team structure again...new stadium, new facilities, good coaching staffs, etc. Until then, it'll just me more wasted years of cyclical dysfunction as they keep destroying high-first-QB picks by saddling them with GMs & coaching changes and leaders that don't want them
The nail painting QB in Chicago needs to study more if they want to be anywhere near good, he's just a blame deflecting youngster so far, they have talent, but nail diva took a long time to get any chemestry with his receivers. The inly thing on his side is that Rodgers taught him what NOT to do next season.

They had Sam Darnold at qb. That’s like expecting Zach Wilson to become a top 10 qb for the rams or something next year
@@MustacheDLuffy Yeah they had Sam as QB going in, but the media and fans should have respected KOC.
Vrabel to bears would just be awesome. Especially if vrabel and Dan did a side fight.
as a Packers fan, we'll make it to the play-offs but I don't think the Superbowl. I 100% think that's gonna be the Lions.
Great video brotha
Sounding a lot better!
Oh his voice is back to normal
bears have also played close with a lot of good teams, they are all wins next year if they make some good choices
So happy with the vikes
I appreciate the optimism with what was said about the Bears, but years ago I just accepted we will suck forever lol, I've mostly been right
Yea i was wrong about Sam this season i didn't think he'll play MVP level had Vikings 7-10 this season im not afraid ti admit i was totally wrong
Considering all of the packers losses are from their own division except 1, I think that shows the power of this division
The GOAT is BACK.
Damn, your voice came back as strong as Darnold's career.
Pro Bowl is now so overrated when you consider that Tyler Huntley was a Pro Bowler too!
The Packers being the youngest in the league is such an overblown narrative.
Goat football channel
NFC North would be like a cell where 4 punks are imprisoned.
I don't think the QB market for Darnold is as wide open as folks think and here me out.
Let's talk about why Sam came to MN in the first place.
1) the Vikings wanted him and he knew he would have a chance to start because Kirk left.
2) learn from KOC
3) offensive weapons and good O line..
Going by the divisions:
KC, LAC, DEN
SF, SEA, AZ
HOU, JAC; TAM, ATL(Cousins/Penix), CAR(Bryce Young has shown signs of life and Sam already did Carolina)
CHI, GB, DET,.MN(JJ)
CIN, PIT, BAL
NE, BUF, PHI, WAS, DAL
So dumpster fires and teams set.on their QB aside, what is left?
Teams.that would have to move off their QB to pursue Sam.
The top team of this 3rd bunch is LA, assuming Stafford retires or LA moves on. Rams have the coaching and weapons and Sam is from Cali...but it's contingent upon Stafford being gone
The second team is Cleveland. Good defense, good offensive coach,.weapons ...but they would have to move off Watson
Tennessee...borders on being a dumpster fire, question marks at.coach and they would have to move on from Levis.
Sam Darnold. What if the Vikings go deep in the playoffs? Do you keep Darnold? Start JJM next year or Darnold?
Drake maye on the Vikings would have been a PROBLEM
Besides the chiefs, when has a team actually won a SB with a QB on a rookie deal, I think teams need to stop with that method, get a vet with young pieces around him
Seahawks too but other than that you have examples of guys who made it on rookie deals like Goff, Burrow, Hurts, Purdy but lost. Eagles kind of in 2017 with Wentz being MVP front runner before the injury but then Foles picked up where he left off to win it.
@ very true, but majority of the time it’s a vet QB that wins
The Packers have ONLY lost to Double Digit Win Teams as well (Vikings, Eagles, and twice to the Lions)
Until then, it'll just me more wasted years of cyclical dysfunction as they keep destroying high-first-QB picks by saddling them with GMs & coaching changes and leaders that don't want them
We ain’t letting smith go, we’d lose Kelce first.
If the Vike’s don’t resign Darnold, do you think there is a chance Daniel Jones starts over McCarthy next year? Or is he a true back-up
Only if Vikings stat with Sam JJ is gonna be a bust
I don't care about the Viking's future. They need to win now.
You must not follow the Chicago Bears very closely.
This franchise is trash.
If the bears lose out they gotta fire poles too right?
The nail painting QB in Chicago needs to study more if they want to be anywhere near good, he's just a blame deflecting youngster so far, they have talent, but nail diva took a long time to get any chemestry with his receivers. The inly thing on his side is that Rodgers taught him what NOT to do next season.
as a bears fan I hope we get a good HC for once🙏. ALSO PLEASE RYANS POLES GET BETTER A OLINE, DLINE, CB cuz Stevenson sucks, LINEBACKER cuz tremaine sucks. PLEASE
when you take out the bears and the head to head win/loss.... the NFC north is 28-3.
Sam Darnold 45-50mil is crazy
