We (Boffalongo) had heard that a group called High Broom covered _Dancing_ shortly after our original version was released in the summer of 1970, but I've never heard it before now. Thanks for posting this!
I also bought this in the summer of 70, I had to order it tho, often wondered if not being readily available stopped it being the hit it def should have been, got decent airplay.
Some very moving about the ensemble singing on the chorus.. you can hear all the individual voices. I grew up with King Harvest, and love it… it’s very well-produced and seamless. But, I dunno… just a great song. Only people who love it re-record it. And always that love shines through.
Actually, the King Harvest version is the cover. King Harvest covered this version by High Broom. Interestingly, this High Broom version is itself a cover of the original recording by Boffalongo.
By far the best version of this song - the memories from 1970 come flooding back. I could dance then - I find it hard to walk now......

The were a great live band, saw them at the Assembly Rooms, Tunbridge Wells.
Love the lead guitar on this version - killer guitar tone, and great licks.
I bought this on vinyl in 1970. Imho this is the best version of the song. 💕

Buffalongo did it first
“Such a quiet night tonight”
This is really nice and better than most covers. I wish the instrumental parts followed the King Harvest song more.

@@marsicus It has a very complex origin, particularly since Sherman Kelly was in both Boffalongo and King Harvest.
Terry Clarke on vocals
This was the reincarnation of Jason Crest
