Good review, I’ve ordered quite a few slides and weights from you guys and used them in Southern California and japan for shark, giant sea bass and ulua.
Thank you man for your video. You explain it very well and I’m going to be purchasing some product from you because this set up will definitely work for me fishing off the rocks in the Caribbean. Happy Thanksgiving
We slide live bait and big dead baits down in South Africa. The best sinker to use is the arlesy bomb which has spring steel barbs.these hold the sinker in position until it's pulled hard, either by a fish taking or striking with the rod.The barbs would then spring into a rearward loose position allowing the sinker to easily be pulled around.
This method is from South Africa, not Australia. We land fish from 3kg to 300kg using this system although the equipment we use differ from the ones in the video. We "slide" using braided main lines with braided leaders and also using monofilament with a leader going anything up to 1.2mm when fishing from beaches or rocky points. Reels used are multipliers or grinders. Have a look at Penn Fishing South Africa or zoo look fishing for how it is done here.
Thanks for your video us the slider used for fishing of high rock cliff areas? New to this and learning about swivels snaps and stuff but can't a snap be used as the bait slider?
To slide multiple rigs? There is a way to keep them separated . The first rig you will want it to go to the stopper ring. 2 rig you will want it higher up….how by tying a dental floss over the mainline a a few feet up from the stop ring, a couple of wraps. Then make a stopper rig with wings a with a loop made of wire. This will stop the 2nd rig to stop here.. Also the first slide bait rig can be the shortest, 2nd slide a little longer, etc. This way each bait is separated.
The way i do em is 18lb squid line to the main and from the eye of the bank sinker I'll tie a 10-15lb test line to a treble with a split shot and I'll just drag it slowly with the rod tip facing the water until it hooks up. I'll get lucky most of the time and get my lead back but not the treble
Why not use two rods? One rod for the main line that is used to send the bait down. The second rod would be attached to the actual bait. Attach the second line to the slide with a light-weight line that will break or a release as with downrigger rigs. The fish takes the bait and breaks off from the slide. Your main line stays in-place for another round. At the end of the day, the entire main line can be retrieved with the weight. If that's impossible, the lighter line to the weight will break. That's my setup. Hope it saves you money.
there's a similar, although much less complicated technique than the one you thought about, It's called "trolley rig", it all comes down to personal preference, I'd only use the trolley rig when I need a heavier, non-castable setup because of the grade of fish I'm after, i.e 6'6" rod with a 30w and up, that being said, I fish sandy bottoms where a breakaway isn,t required
Those weights can get expensive, I would probably use some type of natural weight like a brick, or something. I wouldn't leave my expensive weights in the surf.
@@bigalcervantes5118 we have weights were the wire at the bottom of the weight is strong enough to hold it when sliding but weak enough the wire will break when you hook a fish, but still have a weaker line connected to the sinker since i would rather lose a sinker then a fish
@@bigalcervantes5118 if you're fishing the surf there's no need for a breakaway since there's no structure the weight could get snagged on, hawaiian slide-baiters fish rocky cliffs and bottoms, so their weights can get stuck on a rock. Just use a heavy enough Sputnik with colapsible legs and you're good
I am surprised how people use what I call over kill on leaders for Ulua slide baits. After 30 years of sliding baiting on the Big island, we use only 200 lb test leaders. Very rare to have any of our leader to get cut off. Anything over 250 lbs and up? UM? Base on our experience. 250lbs and up maybe be great to the slide bait hooks if using mono.
THIS SETUP HAS 100% IMPROVED MY FISHING GAME
Yes, in the s.e. 'King fishing' off the end of piers is big! 🏝🐟👍

Great vid mate. Sliding in Oz is growing and theres a lot to learn for all who have a go wherever we reside.
don't do it if you don't have to
Thanks this was the most helping sliding vid I could find
Glad it helped 🤙🏽

Great demo. Thanks.
Have done similar at Wrightsville Beach ,late 70's (8 lb. 'slider line') off pier. 🏝🌴🏝🌴

great video. wish I watched before I came in to the store!!!!
Heard you can't use braid with the slider from another video, is this true?
I've heard of people who still landed fish using braid as their main line but they still used mono, flouro or wire for leader line
Thank you for sharing the knowledge...
Under what conditions is it recommended to use this equipment? How far can bait be delivered?

SO YOU LOSE THE LEAD TO CATCH THE FISH? STAYS IN THE OCEAN?
You get the lead back sometimes, but the lead is meant to firmly latch.
@@HiFishGear INTERESTING, HOW DOES THE SLIDER STAY ON THE LINE IF THE LEAD COMES OFF?
What pound test is the line connected to the led ?
Wouldn't a heavy duty snap swivel do the same thing as the Australian slide thingy?
Yes but the benefit of the Australian is that it only goes one way.
Very helpful video, Mahalo

How strong is the pig tail i got the zise 3
Is the claw weight good for pier fishing?
Nice tutorials sir,fishon
Where i got that sliding bait, any recommendation. Thank you
How long is the leader line does it have to be?
Arm span or tip of rod to bottom eye.

Non return clip ... is easy and high success
how do you recover the weight if its stuck?
only if your led wasn't stuck good than it will pop out
What do you use to Bend the legs on the lead
Pliers?
PLIERS DAH DOY
so you have keep buying weights?

The lead breaking off and staying put isn't that environmentally great...............................
True. Some fishermen use large steel bolts or nuts and attach wire legs, if needed--eventually rusts away.
Instead of loosing weights just tie 50 Lb so you get everything back
"Australian" lol. This originated in South Africa.
Sounds like the Aussies were better at promoting them. They’ve been know as Aussie slides for years.
Definitely not Australian!
