You boys should NEVER change the energy of your videos. Your videos are calming and relaxing. The narration, music and just everything ya'll do is so authentic and real.
Great video guys, I slide baits occasionally on the national seashore here in South Texas. Just a helping tip. The sinker you used is for sand not for rock or any structure. You should use a round roller sinker in rocky areas. Great learning experience. Love you guys changing it up a bit.keeping it fresh. I consider your channel a must watch. Thanks for the time and energy you fellas put into making these videos.
We definitely have a lot to learn when it comes to slide bait fishing 😂 but is really good fun and we will be back at it again real soon 👍 chur chur for the comment 😎
Ive been slide baiting in sydney for quite some years now.its a great technique.when i started those fancy doobalackas were not around.we just made good with a 200 to 400 kg snap swivel.sometimes dont even get to put the rod back down in the holder and its game on.
Been slide baiting for a while. Great way to get your live bait out further and deeper. Try a leader no longer than 2ft, stops your live bait from tangling on your main line and getting burnt off on the mainline.
Cracking video lads! Not sure if you did it or not but when sliding attach your grapnel sinker to a breakaway trace that's about 20lb and attach that to a solid ring big enough so the slide doesn't pull through it. The big solid ring on the other end is then attached to your main line. That way if you hook the bottom while hooked up to a fish or you just get snagged, bust the sinker off and you'll either be still hooked up to the fish or you'll get everything back minus the lead which is cheap enough to replace.
Hey Guys, Happiest of new years from South Africa. Really enjoying your footage. In fact have been binge watching a bit & will share with my family in NZ. Interesting episode on sliding live baits with braid. We used to slide a lot way back when we were still fishing mono with multipliers, mainly with bigger baits for sharks & skates that we couldn’t throw far enough but of course also live baits. Obviously easier if sliding from a high point like ledges however a little more challenging from the beach if there is swell because of line wraps. The key here was shorter less vigorous shakes to avoid the bait bouncing & wrapping with your main line. Another important point was always making sure that the clip had reached your connector ring to which your sinker line was secured on pick-up. We would often straight stick for a few seconds winding slowly until feeling contact with the sinker ring. Our surf bait rods also have much shorter butts, which made fighting bigger fish a little easier. Keep the episodes coming guys. Cheers Tven
I’ve been watching you, religiously since se2 of big angry fish. Now idk why but this is by far top 5 pieces of content you have ever produced in that period. Wholesome, new, just all around entertaining. Loved it!
Wow, wow, wow 😁 thank you soooooo very much for taking the time to write that comment 🙏 chur chur for the continued support brother 😎 it is very much appreciated 👍
Awesome video. Lovely scenery. Slide baits is a very common practice in south africa .what you using is a non return slide . There are two types . There's also a ring about 1cm diameter that's tied about 1m from the sinker . It prevents the slide from tangling with sinker . Good luck
Awesome coast, great little camp site in there too, I had a go at slide baiting at a west coast beach and got absolutely smoked by something large and toothy just on the edge of a river mouth, fantastic way of live baiting
Great to see something different on your channel. Gets me thinking I want to try slide baiting but use my drone to fly my line out then I can have my bait like 200-300 meters off the beach.
we slide bait a lot in hawaii; here we slide only when the pole can be mounted in a high area usually on a cliff edge. That way the bait dead or alive can slide down with gravity faster without the possibility of snagging reef on its way to the bottom. glad you guys still had success regardless
It definitely makes sense to do it off an Elevated position 👍 we would mostly be live baiting when slide bait fishing so I’m guessing considering the live baits/clips can’t come back up the line the live baits will eventually make there way to the sinker. It was really good fun 😎 we will definitely be doing it again 😁 thanks for watching 👍 we appreciate the comment 😎👍😁
Cool adventure this episode. Great technique for land based fishing. So many great fishing adventures to be had without the expense of a boat. Nice one latline boyz👍🏽Milan's place is so awesome
❤ I am going to give that slide baiting a go. Very neat episode Nato. Milan’s house is looking tickety boo too 😊 Keep producing an we will keep watching. Love your work fellas. Chur chur from SW WA.
Nice video. If losing sinkers as we all do can add up cost wise. Take a fair sized rock from beach area drill into it with a mason drill bit and epoxy a swivel and wire to it. May take some time but nearly no cost. Was fun to watch.
Many thanks again for another fun video. I have never tried the slide rig like that but would be interested in giving it a go.The glass house entrance on Milan's house is a great concept and looks fantastic. As always, look forward to the next one. Cheers Pete.
I have been in New Zealand for over 17 years, we started using non return clips, for about 3 years before that. Hope you have great success with them. You can slide out big livies and dead baits.
I love your videos! You guys are so blessed to be able to do this! If you are going to do a whole lot more jumping around on those slick rocks you should get yourselves some felt-soled shoes.
Good video as always! Would love to see the updates on your green-house as things progress Milan and any other additions you're thinking about adding. You probably have some special furniture items too.
Top episode guys. I flicked thru some of my subscriptions, skipping and hopping around. BUT this ... I was fixed on each section and scene. I tried slide baiting once and I got busted off lost it all. So I know that story. House looks amazing too, enjoy those updates. Kia kaha boyz keep it up!
1 thing i do with the slidebait rigs is braid to heavy leader then on that leader a strong swivel and a big bead big enough to stop the slide bait rig then a lighter trace from swivel to sinker so in the event of a snagged sinker can just bust the sinker off
We don’t like taking to much fish on the first day of a 2 day trip. If we had caught him on day 2 he was coming home 😁 Milan’s casts were 80 odd meters at a guess? He could have cast future but we thought it best to have the baits just the other side of the weed lines. Chur chur 😎
Nice session. Google breakaway rotten bottom clips and get a few. They allow you to fish a heavy leader, say 60lb mono, meaning you are protected from abrasion and you can hit the cast as hard as you want. The clip opens when it hits the water so you can tie the weight to the clip with 10lb line. You'll get it back if there are no snags but drop it easily if there are.
You could have kept fishing on that rocky area , use anything for a sinker so long as it is strong enough tie a heavy swivel to the end of your line then tie your sinker to the swivel with a break away line so when you catch a fish if the sinker snags on something it can break off and you can still land your fish
🎉it's good that you made this video! so that everyone can see that casting fishing from a beach where you don't know it is difficult, the conditions are not as good as from a boat!I have been following you for some time! and I congratulate you for trying to tackle all styles of rapier fishing! for some of us who do not have the possibility of a boat and fish from the shore, casting is a new technique to learn! Really looking forward to the Toyota brother 😎 yes, we have a custom built 7.25m amphibious boat coming with a kitchen ect but, before then we have a 4m tinny that should be really next week to do some harbour fishing between now and Xmas 😁 chur chur for the comment 😎😁👍
Nato the object at 9 minutes in is a little baby Krsna. It's called damodara and this is an auspicious time of year as we celebrate kartik for the month.
Chaps for your live bait to swim down the line you need to shake your rod and it slide down pretty easy. From the solid ring to your sinker should be around 300mm to 500mm.
Hi nato this would have to be one of the best videos you have done. Was really refreshing see you trying something new and watching you guys learn a new technique and it paying off more like this would be great please. Can I suggest a couple of 1200 long rod holders so rod is up higher give you a nice angle for the slider Bait to go out take some different size bos to see what weights you can get away with. Even take some reefs
Sooooo very cool to hear people enjoyed the video 😎 it was a super fun learning experience 😁 and we will definitely be having another crack at slide baiting real soon 👍 chur chur
Guys….firstly you can not use a slide with braid….must be done with a mono top shot of about 200 m…once you get you slide in the water you have to work it down the line with big sweeps up and down the line until bait reaches the stopper… Take a look at any ‘slide bait techniques for South African rock and surf angling’….us boys down in SAFFA invented and perfected sliding…..
Hi guys , I recently caught some relatively small kingies (only 6kg )on new rigged Sluggos only to have them bend hooks and rip my sluggos to bits . Have you guys ran into any issues similar?
Sluggos often rip ect they don’t last forever but bending hooks on small fish i wouldn’t say was normal? What size are the hooks? And what were you doing when they bent? Chur chur
Hi guys great video, i have a question abbout fishing for medium size kingies of the rocks, what type of leader should i use? Do you guys prefer nylon or something else?
Choice episode, boys! Tried this off the wharf last weekend and scored myself a John Dory, it certainly works! Also hooked something bigger, didn't move much even though it had my rod bent back on itself and ended up breaking a 25kg swivel. I'm thinking it was a big stingray.
I was hoping that we would get a John Dory with the smaller live baits 👍 good to know that it works for johnnys 😎 bummer on the bust off, chur chur for watching and commenting 😁
It’s the simple things that make me miss home, like being able to step out of the tent straight into ya boots with out having to check for poisonous snakes and spiders 😂 Chur the boys 🍻
Good as always! Nice fish on anew rig. Why don't you guys use a felter spike boots? Daiwa, Shimano, Mazume produce a quite nice. I'm doing a lot of rockshore always use those boots. Very comfortable and safe on the slippery surface. With waterproof socks it's makes fishing way better.
Wow very interesting video Nato on slide fishing and where do you get the rigs from I'm going to have to give it a go and Milan your house is amazing looking forward to more slide bait fishing so Chur Chur Nato and Milan from your Aussie brother John
Came from South Africa the slide baiting, some HUGE Spanish Mackerel taken off Fraser Island QLD doing this however drones dropping baits out far further is the latest..... fly the light weighted bait out 300m etc and slow real in.
Love the ol surfcaster out lesgoooo. Wifey and I always wait for the bell to go off lol (spool a spare reel with mono for sliders... slides better apparently) im still learning that rig myself, but mono is better.. my braid was nicked by a small oyster shell amd boom lost fish hahaha.
On the early days were you always doing the editing and videography or is this just since youtube? Im familiar with you guys being on TV in Australia and it seems you were just a fishing duo
There were 13 or more people involved in creating the TV shows. I never done any editing but I did film most of season 8. These days it’s just Milan, i and my iPhone 😎👍😁 easy is fun and fun is why we do it 😁 thanks for watching and commenting 👍
@@TheLateralLine, well I know how much you like flying your drone, and I really like your drone filming. I’ve just found that drone fishing makes a really nice change when I can’t take my boat out.
Absolute great video guys loving the keeping it fresh style. Can't wait to see the next one. Snapper fever has just kicked here in Aus everyone's out there trying to land their reds for the season
@@TheLateralLine thanks Nate, took a bit inspiration from you guys and tried something new myself and went land based fishing couple of throw backs but a massive bit of fun. Can’t wait to see what you guys have up next and thanks for the great videos and replying

in South Africa slide baiting is huge. Plenty of good vids on youtube to binge watch
Chur chur 😎 we have been watching quite a few 👍
always better to use a very weak line on the sinker, so it can break off easier when you get stuck. Rather loose your sinker than loosing your fish.
Correct, we learnt that lesson the hard way 🤪 thanks for watching 😁
Use squib line that’s what we call it in Hawaii
This was really fun to watch, more slide bait fishing!!!

The chase after the rod was priceless

To slide your bite, move the rod up and down. Long slow movements about 100 strokes. Get your bait down much faster
Chur chur 😎 we sent that on a few slide baiting videos 👍
1 thing i do with the slidebait rigs is braid to heavy leader then on that leader a strong swivel and a big bead big enough to stop the slide bait rig then a lighter trace from swivel to sinker so in the event of a snagged sinker can just bust the sinker off
Sounds like you came to the same place/rig that we ended up at 😁 we are keen for another crack with the improved rig 👍 chur chur for the comment 😎
How come you didn't eat the kingy? How far dud Milan cast do u reckon?
Now that sounds very very cool 😎 chur chur brother 👍 really appreciate that 😁
You could have kept fishing on that rocky area , use anything for a sinker so long as it is strong enough tie a heavy swivel to the end of your line then tie your sinker to the swivel with a break away line so when you catch a fish if the sinker snags on something it can break off and you can still land your fish
Sounds good but kings never play fair 😂 there was to much foul there to land a king if they didn’t want to be landed I think. Chur chur
the pigs lmao at the end. I do that while spearfishing XD
It’s good fun a 😂 chur chur for the comment 😎👍😁

Take a look at any ‘slide bait techniques for South African rock and surf angling’….us boys down in SAFFA invented and perfected sliding…..
Chur chur
great video what beach is that?
I make sacrifical stone sinkers , diamond drill bit, run water, long/flat beach stones.breakawy last 500mm.
Sounds like a great thing to film also 😎 chur chur 😁
Hi guys great video, i have a question abbout fishing for medium size kingies of the rocks, what type of leader should i use? Do you guys prefer nylon or something else?
We use mono leaders, any where from 60lb to 170lb depending on where we are and size of the fish we expect to encounter 😁 chur chur for watching 😎
@@TheLateralLine and how long do you guys make the leader?
As long as we can with out them being painful. 3 to 5 meters. Chur chur
I’m so very grateful that we don’t have all the nasty critters 😂 chur chur for watching and commenting brother
I never new there was such a thing as fishing spike boots 🧐 gonna have to look into that one 👍 chur chur 😁

Hey mate.. would it be possible to get a link to that rock rod holder ?
Sorry I don’t have a link 😬 it’s called a “Rocky” but I’m not sure if they are made anymore? I’m so very useful a 😜 chur chur for watching 😎
I’ll be giving slide baiting a shot now
It’s definitely worth a crack 😎 chur chur 👍
What was that little metal? You caught a Kahawai on it. Ps love your work
Grim Reaper lure 😎
@@TheLateralLinethank you!
Churr brothers love you guys

Chur chur my Aussie brother John 😎 we get our gear from Luke at Yeehaaa in Auckland 👍 we appreciate the comment John 😁
Not a complaint at all, but I feel like I missed something. Where's the boat? The Sojourn?
Unfortunatly they sold it
@@tiller_gorilla7220 Ah now I understand. Thanks for the reply.
Boat was sold at the end of last year. New boat is on its way 😎 chur chur 👍
Came from South Africa the slide baiting, some HUGE Spanish Mackerel taken off Fraser Island QLD doing this however drones dropping baits out far further is the latest..... fly the light weighted bait out 300m etc and slow real in.
Now that sounds super effective 😍 that could be next 😎 chur chur
New idea, drone fishing?😀
Sounds like fun to me 😎 chur chur
Love the ol surfcaster out lesgoooo. Wifey and I always wait for the bell to go off lol (spool a spare reel with mono for sliders... slides better apparently) im still learning that rig myself, but mono is better.. my braid was nicked by a small oyster shell amd boom lost fish hahaha.
We have heard mono is the go also. We will be back at slide baiting again one day soon 😎 chur chur 👍
Seeing as you guys are doing mainly land based fishing, have you thought about doing drone fishing?
Not really but after seeing how effective slide baiting could be definitely keen to give it a go. Chur chur
@@TheLateralLine, well I know how much you like flying your drone, and I really like your drone filming. I’ve just found that drone fishing makes a really nice change when I can’t take my boat out.
Fishing is fishing a 😎 take a fishing fix any way we can get one 😁
@@TheLateralLine, well maybe you should come up to Auckland, and I'll take you out on my boat. 🙂
Sounds bloody good to me but it’s a bit hard with all the different brands out there 😬
Absolute great video guys loving the keeping it fresh style. Can't wait to see the next one. Snapper fever has just kicked here in Aus everyone's out there trying to land their reds for the season
It was super fun trying something new and learning 😎 good luck on the reds brother 😁 chur chur
@@TheLateralLine thanks Nate, took a bit inspiration from you guys and tried something new myself and went land based fishing couple of throw backs but a massive bit of fun. Can’t wait to see what you guys have up next and thanks for the great videos and replying
Glad to hear we inspired you enough to go have some fun 😁 We have a little boat being built at the mo to do some harbour fishing missions before Xmas 😎 chur chur
@@TheLateralLine some good times a head. Can’t wait to see what you guys do. My first snapper video comes out next Friday small beginnings but off to a good start
