I bought my SecretLab Softweave Omega 3 years ago and it's still just as comfortable as the day I bought it. Just getting into Elite Dangerous and looking into a dual stick solution. Thanks for the help!
I just got the newer quick release design. One knob with bearings and one leaver. Also comes with a plastic cap for the bottom so your not sliding metal on metal. So smooooth.
After about a year of use the extra weight from the mounts caused both the arms and mounts to fall off, with the metal brackets they are fitted to cracked all the way across from metal fatigue. The solid slabs of aluminum from Monstertech are fine but there's no way to re-attach armrests or mounts now. If you are mounting something lighter than the Warthog throttle you might be fine, but otherwise I'd recommend an external frame or a chair designed for the purpose. I did love the look plus the ease of install though, to be fair.
I've been enjoying my Secret Labs Game of Thrones edition for a few months. So now Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 is coming out in less than a month. This seems like an awesome solution.
I have the same chair (House Stark), but on initial fitting the plate wasn't coming out far enough, because it wasn't clearing the plastic base of the arm, for the vertical mount to be vertical. I contacted Monstertech and they said I needed to fit the spacers so the mounting plate will extend out further, am going to try it again!
Happy new year everyone. Just watched this video and I've purchased a fitting kit. Didn't realise the quick realise setup was optional. Do you know what the thread size is on the mounting bolts? Thanks. :)
Hi Daniele! I'm really interested in the swiveling chair mount because of its convenience in easily switching between a gamer and an office chair. But is it disturbing/annoying to have a joystick and a throttle swiveled back all the time when not gaming and just working on office tasks? Do you usually remove them after gaming to have your chair free of the extra weight and volume of your joystick set, or just keep them swiveled back while working? I would highly appreciate this feedback, as I am still unsure about buying the chair or table mount. I'm not a gamer and I have a Hotas Warthog set which I only use for flight simulation on my PC, as I work as an Airbus pilot and use my simulation set as a preparation tool for my flights. Therefore, the closer the set is to my real airplane, the better. Thanks in advance!
Sorry didn't see your comment before. It takes a few minutes to mount and un-mount both joysticks. I do this every day now as I am working from home, due to covid. It is a bit annoying, but nothing big, 3 min average. After a bit you get use to it, then it also depends how lazy you can be :-) .
I probably might get this for my SC Setup. Its still as expensive as some lower end built in mounted chairs but it at least allows you to customize how you like you don't really have to put all the money up front for a whole set.
I've been eyeing the Monstertech chair for about a year now and I wonder if it's possible to do the double mount (A throttle mount and mousepad mount on 1 extension) on chairs with this type arm support mounts.
do these reach with the arm rests all the way up? im a taller person and so far every one ive tried is too short or barely reaches with rests all the way down
Well got my ones installed however Im scratching my head at a part included but I cant find where to use it in the instructions or this video but they are these small cylinders with no threading, 4 in each mount. While the setup seems fine without them, I wonder if I missed something, usually its something critical.
Ok so since you've started using this monstertech setup for a while and have a USB hub mounted under your chair, what is the downfall/things you wish you could change?
Hi, maybe the only thing I would like to be improved is the mounting mechanism to the chair. If it could be made slightly quicker and not leave an exposed metal on the sides of the chair it would be perfect. The pitch adapter can be useful when your chair seat is inclined. Another note for the the joystick storage holders, which are not covered in this video, these aren't strong enough when you are "parking" a heavy setup which might include the mouse extensions for example.
Daniele, thanks for making this video. Two questions. At 2:46, that piece that slides up and down, how do you secure it onto the wing nuts? And at 2:50, what is going on there? How did you flip that piece around? For the life of me, I can't secure that piece that slides up and down so that it does not just pull of the wing nuts.
Hello, the screws with the nuts are made so that they are supposed to pull the 2 pieces of metal together, more you screw more it tightens. You first need to select the correct screw size at 1:32, chose the longest screw and insert it in the metal ring housing provided (at 1:37). Once that is done you can either insert the head of the screw with the metal housing directly in the large holes of the horizontal support (the one where you mount the Joystick), either you can screw them (a little bit) directly in the vertical metal mount (at 1:50) to make things easier. Once all pieces and supports are in place, you can start tightening the screws. They are supposed to screw inside the vertical metal, more you screw more it pulls the horizontal support to the vertical one. Ensure the screw heads and the metal ring are well inserted in the horizontal support. At 2:50 I did not flip the metal around, I just removed the plastic cover to have better access to the screws. You can leave it on and screw from below, but that can be a bit uncomfortable. Hope that clarifies. Cheers
@@danielekirylo Thank you Daniele for all of those details, it really helps. I think my main issue was that I did not receive the long screws, but I will be getting those parts tomorrow. @@danielekirylo Thank you for your reply. That sounds great, so would you say it is worth the money? For its price i would expect it to last four years, with proper maintenance of course, would you say that is doable?
@@bmbpdk Hi, I think it will last for many many years as it is beefy solid aluminium structure, quite heavy actually. Also I have 2 small kids who every once and then like to play with it when I am not in the room, the pieces are all intact like new. The mounts are quite expensive, but it's a one time purchase I would say. As I wrote previously, I think your chair will probably break before the mounts do.
Thanks a lot for this clip. You made the installation crystal clear. Just a little question: Is it complicated to readjust to height of the mount platforms for the HOTAS device? Is it only one screw to loose, adjust and screw back tight? Thanks a lot. I'd like to know before ordering a par as it's very expensive. About $400 CAD for 2 chair mounts + 2 pairs of quick screws as you have + handling and shipping + this and that lol. It's double the price I paid for my X52Pro.
Thank you for the comment. Adjustment of the height is very easy and quick. It will take you like 5 min with the Allen hex key. There are 2 screws, the ones you see in my video at min 1:50, you can loosen and tighten them without removing anything. When you mount them the first time you do it like in my video just to make things easier, but once they are mounted you can access them from below the platform.
@@danielekirylo Ok, that's what I was thinking but I was not sure. I think that many accessories they sell are not very useful according to their prices but it was a smart idea to get some pairs of quick screws to easily be able to toss them away without having to take them off when you don't play. Thanks a lot for your help. Your video is the best reference to learn how install these. It's really great!

Make sure you are using the correct bolts. I used the manual provided and there is some misprint (UK) Essentially when you open it you will notice 3 different sized bolts, the manual provided has these listed as 25mm in step one 20mm in step 2 and 30mm in step 4. Based on what was provided parts wise you may be forgiven to think they missed a 25mm and gave an extra 30mm. But those sizes online in step one say 35mm. The longest ones are for the chair base, the 2 middle sized ones in the brackets, I used 2 of the long ones in my chair mistakenly due to this error and due to this broke another part Im hoping I can leave or get replaced if needed.
Thanks you very much, very helpfull, Monstertech should make exactly same thing !!! If you got the Mouse Extension for Chair Mount, could yhou please make same kind of video because no explanation with the product. Thanks.
Ok so this is a great video but it deeply undersells the difficulty of installing that base plate. I definitely recommend removing your wheels and flipping the chair upside down. An extra pair of hands also goes a long way.
Always laugh when i see the price tags of those mounts. Its like 100 bucks for a dollar worth of 1x2 T-slot extrusion rails (stuff is only like 0.37 cents a foot) and two vary basic milled metal plates.
Thank YOU for this!!! I'm waiting for my titan to show up and was pondering whether or not the monstertech would be a good fit (without any flimsiness or bending) and the structure itself looks really rigid. I do have one question though - How is it to play sitting a bit further away with the joysticks mounted to the chair vs them being on the table and using the keyboard and mouse every once in a while like you have to do in star citizen? Either way, thank you again sir!
Hi, I don't have table mounts, but having they joysticks on the chair gives me the flexibility to move the chair around while still having the grips in the same position, also I can find a super comfortable position on the chair (reclining the back seat a bit) without requiring to change the setup. One disadvantage is the keyboard on the desk, so you will have to get near the desk to use it, unless you have alternative ways of setting it up. I use also 2 mouse mounts on the sides of the chair where I keep mouse and a keypad. So the use of the keyboard is minimum. One reason I would probably chose table mounts over chair mounts is the fact that you can mount/un-mount the desk ones very quickly, that would keep your setup clean when not playing, compared to the chair which might take little bit more effort and will still have the fixed metal supports on the sides of the chair. I would still go with chair mounts personally. Here is my final setup th-cam.com/video/fV5LTI2K8n0/w-d-xo.html
