    Nice! I love it when it both works and is cost-effective, too! Very nicely done.

    I love this and had the same thoughts when I started researching mounts. I'm glad you did this video. The only thing I'll likely do differently is the joystick location as I don't want it between my legs. Thank you for saving me significant time researching this.

    $369 is way more than you'd normally pay for a Wheel Stand Pro. It's an European company and their online store lists the price for that exact version you showed as 149GBP for the UK.
    That said, the setup you came up with seems perfect for your use case and much nicer than one of those would've been!

    • @GrubbyZebra
      @GrubbyZebra 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Actually, the one he showed for $369 is the Wheel Stand Pro Super Warthog (Deluxe V2), which is $359 + shipping from WheelStandPro US, or about $190 (149GBP or 159Euro) +VAT + Shipping from Wheel Stand Pro UK or EU (respectively). So basically, to get that one in the US, you are going to spend about $370 regardless of which shop you buy it from.

    I use the desk mounts, they all have a quick release lever and what I did was run a couple USB extension cables and zip tied them to my desk close to where I want to mount the Hotas and I can clamp either mount and plug in the USB in about 5 seconds. Every 20 or so times i remount I have to break out a tool and tighten up the quick release to the desk friction mount. No real bother at all.

    nice dude think this video made me get the chair! how do you get the FLOLS up on the screen when landing on the carrier?

    • @silverback-gjr2805
      @silverback-gjr2805  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you enjoyed it mate! Comes up automatically. (there might be a setting to enable it but I haven't changed it from stock so not sure) you can move it around on screen once established

    That's a pretty smart setup dude. does the metal plate between your legs rub up on your legs at all?

    • @silverback-gjr2805
      @silverback-gjr2805  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks pal. Really appreciate it! Not one bit. If I sit back with my feet on the rudder they don't even touch. If I had the stick out when I was sitting in the chair like normal then it would yes. Trimming the edges off also helped when its stowed.

  • @funkyschnitzel
    @funkyschnitzel 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    That's a clever way to avoid the steep costs of mounts. What stops the stick from rotating when you push forward on it during flight? Does the panel lock into position?

    • @silverback-gjr2805
      @silverback-gjr2805  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you! Two things, firstly the panel only rotates in one direction and lastly once the stick platform is rotated for use, I pull it back into the chair a little bit which covers over the end of the plate. It kind of acts as a backstop to the panel and prevents it from moving!

    • @funkyschnitzel

      @@silverback-gjr2805 nice one. I couldn't make that work with mine because I have an extension, so the stick would hit the ground, but I love the idea of being able to fold it away after use.

    • @silverback-gjr2805
      @silverback-gjr2805  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah that's a shame dude. Only thing I can suggest is maybe some sort of quick release mechanism to remove the stick prior to folding.

  • @gromm93
    @gromm93 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Maybe it's just me and flying gliders which need a lot of rudder play, but how the heck do you keep the chair from moving while using the rudders?

    • @Captain_Coleslaw
      @Captain_Coleslaw ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You buy rubber nub's instead of the wheels on your chair, then all it does is rotates and its really hard to move with weight on it :)

  • @Tonkotsu2k10

    People can definitely be Elitist D*cks about it. Set up what ever works for you. Its no lie though that the stability offered by a mounted set up is leaps and bounds better than anything desktop.

    Do a sudden pull up without extended joystick ;P

  • @moedark4390
    @moedark4390 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    but everything that gets attached to a chair has a cord attached running across ur foot path to your computer, no?

    • @silverback-gjr2805
      @silverback-gjr2805  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've wired mine in such a way that it does not interfere. VR users have to put up with a wire anyways so a few more is no biggy for me. If the chair is staying still like it does in flight sims there's no reason for them to be in the way.

    Does the stick bump into your thighs or does it have full range of motion?

    • @silverback-gjr2805
      @silverback-gjr2805  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Full range of motion but only when my legs are out on the rudder pedals

    this guy works in stupid if a quick action clamp is too much effort n a faff, then hangs his stick upside down, bet thats getting a bigger deadzone by the day, then look at the struggle to roll between the legs, if he pulls 9g he will pinch his bollox the muppet
