    A top Marine sniper, Bob Lee Swagger (Mark Wahlberg), leaves the military after a mission goes horribly awry and disappears without a trace. Swagger is coaxed back into service after high-profile government officials convince him to help thwart a plot against the President of the United States. Swagger realizes he has been betrayed and becomes the target of a nationwide manhunt. Instead of hiding, he seeks revenge against some of the most powerful and corrupt leaders in the free world.

      Believe it or not, him being a Colonel, he is still subject to the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice). Any persons who serve or have served in uniform, are always subject to the UCMJ, no matter where they serve or have served in the world. No matter where or what, still subject to the UCMJ. My military superiors told me about this movie particularly, you identify as a Colonel and have the identification and records to back it, you follow the UCMJ. And also, had the Colonel paid attention to what the Attorney General could do, the Colonel would have realized that, even though he gets off scott-free, the AG can in fact release him, and also would have known that Swaggert was coming and could have warned everyone at the cabin.

The colonel said it's all hearsay too because it's just pictures and no evidence of his involvement. I believe people are just looking at this wrong like what he did wasn't illegal. It was illegal but it's outside the AG jurisdiction and power to do anything. Also it's just a movie lol 😆

      What's more important in being a sniper than the marksmanship is the ability to deal with shit conditions, in a shit country, with shit politics. Then maybe once in a while making a shot from a shit hide with the entire country looking for you. no being a sniper is not about the ballistics. If you think it’s possible to shoot a 22 LR at 400yds from a boat and It one get there and two have enough ballistic energy to even kill.
      And the mountain top shot hitting the weapon.. at the range roughly 1200m give or take factoring in cosine angle the weapon wouldn’t of even been visible. The cross hairs would of covered it. And if using a mil-radian optic and turret setup each click of adjustment at that range would of been 12CM with no wind markers, mountain terrain with updrafts and down drafts and no spotter..
      You would have more chance of getting a blowy from a Swedish royal family princess out skiing than hitting than shot.

      This wasn't a trial. Merely a meeting between a suspect and the attorney General prosecuting the case. The atorny general is in charge of pressing charges, thus he also has the authority to drop charges if new evidence comes to light. Since no trial had not begun yet He has full authority to do so without going before a judge. Theoretically if he dies the next day whatever AG replaces him would have the authority to press charges again not that they would since no AG is going to suicide his own career with a high profile unwinnable case.

    It's a major plothole, which is hilarious because the entire movie after Bob Lee was framed is unnecessary as a result of that firing pin. Why go to all the trouble to find out the truth if the proof of his innocence was already in the FBI's possession?

    • @S31Syntax
      @S31Syntax ปีที่แล้ว +25

      Because knowing the colonel, bob wouldn't have survived the judicial process. Once he's dead, he certainly has the leverage to ensure the investigation died with him. Nobody is gonna look at it past that and even if they did, "who gives a shit"

      An even dumber plot hole is why would a team of assassins go recover a bullet that shot a can of stew rather than get another projectile from firing the gun? Doing so those assassins would notice the gun doesn’t fire.

    • @richardprice
      @richardprice ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@kingleonidas4296 in the book, it's a setup - Bob is invited to shoot at a range to give feedback on some new ammunition, and that is where the bad guys get the perfect round. He realises something is wrong when the final shot of the day places Bob in the shoes of the sniper who wounded him and killed his partner, which is why he then adjusts the weapons firing pin.
      The book is far better than the movie, and makes a lot more sense. The movie cuts out a lot of plot which makes the book flow better.
