    it whips because instant coffee is freeze dried! freeze drying things replaces water with air so the instant coffee is aerated. That's why you get a "crema" like layer on instant coffee that looks like espresso.

      it whips because you have a high concentration of coffee per amount of water

    • @Dmichoacan
      @Dmichoacan 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      also coffee grounds no matter how fine are not soluble

    • @Dmichoacan
      @Dmichoacan 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      for reference if you tried to make coffee on a regular coffee machine, you would put one **cup** of water per one **cup** of ground coffee. After making this you would need one cup of sugar. That is just of a waste of coffee and sugar. Using instant coffee is a practical way around that. in the process of whisking it you create a bunch of small bubbles to the point of creating a creamy texture. it is the same thing that happens when you make milk foam. The more you froth the milk, the more airy the foam is.

    Chances are you won't get to read this, but if you do, you should try and Inverted Dalgona.
    Ice first, Dalgona mix on top and then slowly pour in the milk (while rotating the glass).
    That way, the milk already starts mixing. You'll get a neat 'waterfall' effect on the sides of the glass as the mix rises and there will be no need to end up with a sticky spoon because there's much less need to mix the drink.
    If, while drinking, you regularly swirl the drink in the glass (to mix the milk and dalgona), you'll end up with nice foamy layer half-way through.

    I learned from a sweet Italian lady how to make the best Espresso. Take first couple tablespoons of espresso the really strong couple tablespoons just as it starts it brew, you don't need much, add sugar and simply whip with a fork, by the time the espresso is done you have a pretty thick sweet coffee cream that will actiually sit on top of your coffee or espresso. It's easy, and oh so good once you get air in the coffee and suger its like a drug ;-)

    Bro, listen... Your final method... That's how they make instant coffee! They boil coffee down, discard the grounds... Then they quickly freeze the remainder in a way that removes the liquid component. Why it works is it's essentially the same factor movie a few steps and then whipping it into the falcons.

      No no, not true. Instant is not just reduced fresh coffee, it also goes through a filtering process to remove oils. It's the absence of these oils which is what sets it apart and makes it more usable to create a foam.

    The coffee you're making it's called Frappe and it's from Greece.
    A little back story for the coffee:
    Frappé coffee (also Greek frappé or café frappé Greek: φραπές, frapés) is a Greek iced coffee drink made from instant coffee, water and sugar. Invented through experimentation by Dimitris Vakondios, a Nescafe representative in 1957 in Thessaloniki, frappé is sold primarily in Greece and is among the most popular drinks in Greece and Cyprus, and is available at virtually all Greek cafés. The word frappé is French and can be defined as 'chilled in crushed ice'. The frappé has become a hallmark of post-war outdoor Greek coffee culture.

I added my ice first a little under half way, added 3/4 cup milk of choice, then added the fluff. After trying it the second one I went ahead and stirred it all together and added some whipped cream on it. Absolutely amazing! Didn’t even need to add anymore sugar. It was perfect! Be well.

    To my understanding what allows the instant coffee to whip up so well is that theres freeze dried crema mixed in with the granules. When his with the water it's essentially turning into cream. So you are making whipped cream with crystaline coffee to help hold it's structure together.

      Did you use the 2 tbs per serving version? That makes way to much for one person I feel try to halve it it's a 1:1:1 ratio so 1 tbs of coffee water and sugar each you can add cocoa powder for a more mocha taste but I recommend no more than 1/2 tbs and you'd need to add an extra 1/2 tbs of sugar to help keep I stiff it still won't be as fluffy but it does make I quite chocolatey you can ask add a splash of vanilla syrup or creamer of your choice I you'd still like it sweeter and still keeps it's nice and frothy but yea mix it with the milk well

    The reason why it's so hard to do this with real coffee is because it contains oil from the coffee bean, and this oil breaks down the walls of the air bubbles that are formed when whipping it up.(Incidentally, drinking too much real coffee is one of the few ways a vegan can get a high cholesterol level, precisely due to the presence of this oil. But that's another matter) Instant coffee does not contain this oil, so it's much much more conducive to being whipped into a cream. No amount of reducing the coffee into a syrup will remove the oils from the coffee, so it would never become as creamy as the instant coffee version.

      Dalgona is the name of a Korean street snack for kids. The reason why Koreans call it Dalgona coffee is because the texture once it's whipped looks like Dalgona when it's being made. Yeah it might've been around for a long time but it got popular in Korea and now everyone is doing it. I'm from Florida too and never heard of this being a cuban thing.

    • @rocioborroto3263
      @rocioborroto3263 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cee Cee this is not the same thing as whipping sugar in Cuban coffee. In Cuban coffee, sugar is wet in a separate cup with a bit of the brewed espresso and whipped with a spoon until it becomes super light in color and thick, and the espresso is topped with this thick airy sugar mixture, which gives it a thick layer of “espumita” on top aka “foam”. Here all of the coffee is becoming whipped and thick. Not exactly the same thing.

    Everyone is trying too hard for the sake of presentation when you ought to mix it all together anyway. Baristas are just going to use a pre made syrup. Try this:
    1oz coffee liquor
    4oz milk (I prefer almond)
    Shake well with ice and open pour
    You can optionally layer in caramel syrup
