К стыду своему даже не знала о таком феноменальном исполнителе Баха, как Григорий Соколов. Он соединил в фортепьянной партите звучание органного Баха, его камерного орекстра, как в Брандербургских концертах, и, конечно, Баха клавирного. Изумительно. Неисчерпаемо. Какое счастье, что можно слушать снова и снова. Спасибо.
Я разделяю тот же позор и то же самое благословенное открытие. Да здравствует этот ангел, который упал с небес, чтобы сохранить душу Баха нетронутой!

If one tries to play the faster passages in the Sinfonia, or even the Allemande as a whole in his tempo, one becomes aware of the incredible control and delicacy of his technique. The tempo of his playing of the Allemande is not slow at all, but in his hands not for one second feels rushed, but considerate and gentle without having to go as slow as many others do.

Después de escuchar esta partirá 2 en C menor busque datos sobre su vida y creo entender sobre algunos rasgos de Su personalidad...Maestro Sokolov MIS respetos y admiración a su implecable ejecución del Gran J. S. Bach.Esta partita la he escuchado con otros respetables pianistas y su interpretación es la que mas me ha gustado.Gracias y que Dios lo bendiga.

First time I hear Sokolov, a positive discovery! A great performance. Spirited, noble play.
I have Sokolov’s cd records, including this one. I think his Bach interpretation supersedes Gould’s. His Beethoven and Schubert are very unique, yet they remind me Gilels- his mentor and friend. As several listeners said here in Russian, Grigory is one of the best pianist ever, among a few other giants.
The autumn photo depicts Minotaur bridge in Pavlovsk’ magnificent park. Few steps on its left is one of the most beautiful palaces of Russia, just 15 min from St Petersburg by car.

I've heard Sokolov before and did not think much of his music at all. Now I gave this recording a chance, but was expecting to be desappointed. On the contrary, it's one of the best I've heard for this partita!!! Glad I gave him a chance!

I learned to totally immerse into Bach partitas, just drop everything and listen! Grigory Sokolov, with his magic touch brought me there! Btw the beautiful picture of Autumn is of my favorite park in Pavlovsk, near StPetersbug!

Мне кажется что и прелюдия и фуга немного быстрая ....медленее красивее будет ....но на вкус и цвет товарища нет......попробуйте сами в медленном темпе проиграть

He has no idea of french overture playing. But that's to blame on his russian background. His playing is so radiant though! Uplifing! I always get the urge to talk to the guy because he seems to know the secrets of life! Magic! (Even on a false piano).
Impossible to gear this piece, and not think of Gould at his cottage, sitting in his bathrobe, playing this piece like the insane genius that was Gould.

Disappointing that your comment only refers to Gould and not a word about the current performer.
Sokolov plays brilliantly I would say.
Gould never fails to irritate with his navel-gazing idiosyncrasies and stylistic non-sequiturs. Sokolov's technique, discipline, coherent interpretation, respect for the composer put Sokolov in an entirely different class. I got over Gould-infatuation long, long ago when I was a teenager. Sokolov is for grown-ups.

When an interpreter is well beyond technique subtleties, his or her personality, and the personal taste of the listener too, of course, is what´s all about.
In my opinion, both Gould and Sokolov are for music lovers regardless of age. I´m almost 70 and still enjoy Gould´s music. Sokolov is my favorite pianist alive.
He is the only one who is (almost) as good as Gould. (in comparison with Agerich, Schiff, Zimmermann...)
I prefer Schiff to Gould
