Great Video. I’m a combat Veteran who has PTSD and survivor’s guilt. Life can be challenging but everyone has their cross to bear. Thanks for bringing awareness to the issue of men’s mental health. We do the crappy jobs and we’ve been taught to suck it up and drive on. We need to get help when we need it and tough it out when we have to.
Just found your videos and ran down the rabbit hole watching one after another of them. I'm knocking on the door of 70 and miss the outdoors, living with the land and letting mother nature supply your needs. I got thrown a curve ball and medically I can no longer enjoy the life style I miss. BUT...I can relive by watching your videos. Thank you for mentioning the mental health aspect of life that so many people ignore. In the nearly 70 years I have been above ground and sucking air I have found that no matter who you are, you are never so important that you can't at least say a kind word to everyone you meet and maybe offer a helping hand to those that are less fortunate than you. It may be just the help someone needs to turn their life around. Again Thank you Greg
Great comment Greg! It never hurts to say something kind to someone! But harsh words will always hurt! One thing I learned from Scouts, "Do a good turn every day!" For those that don’t know what that means, it’s quite simple. Do something or say something nice to someone every day. If you do that, you never know what that might mean to someone! You can literally save a life just by saying something nice to a person! Wish them well, compliment them in some way. For you Greg, I would just say that you are loved. You are important. To someone, you are a blessing! May the Lord bless and keep you all of your days! Have a wonderful day! - The ZippedUpKitz
I love listening to your stories they're sad but very true . I know two great men who were in the dessert storm and came home with PTSD . My heart breaks for both of them cause they are the same age as my son and one talks about killing himself all the time . He has been in and out of the VA hospital . I tell him all the time that he could do so much for the youth if he told his story . So may I ask that you keep them in your prayers and I'll will pray that y'all's videos help others . And pray that I might say something to help someone . Thank you sir for your videos
Thanks Dave. Its like you told my Story. I was the Guy that Partied till I turned 40. God took me through some Storms. He has given me times to share in a way to say there is Hope. Keep them coming.
Thank for sharing those stories. They are very impactful. As a therapist I try to make clients understand that rock bottom doesn’t mean it’s over. In a very sincere calming way you told your audience to get back up and learn from their experiences and help others by telling their story. Thank you! I appreciate you.
Man I love your stories, and cooking. My Brother Scott graduated in 94, passed of an overdose in 09. He was always so cheerful. I have PTSD, and panic attacks every day, on non narcotic meds. I'm currently homeless from missing work from it. But I'll be fine :) your videos are great man thank you. I'm just camping a while.
Dave, somehow I had missed this video but it is da bomb! Took me back to some of my own camping trips but also I recalled being in the jungles of Nam in '69 but cooking "gourmet" meals concocted of a mix of C-rations. The unique aspect of that was not cooking with wood but using thumb size pieces of C-4 plastic explosive which burns very hot and is quite safe if you don't hit it with a hammer while it's burning. Now that was "da bomb"! loved your stories about men's mental health. I am a retired psychologist and knew many clients who both got well or did not...the joy and the sorrow. One of my brothers-in-law was alcoholic and got drunk while burning a huge pile of brush on his rural property. He fell into the fire and suffered horrendous burns over 50% of his body. He was a very successful master electrician but is now disabled and living on SSDI. As you said, we all are messed up to varying degrees. God bless you, Brooke, the kids and of course Maisey and Moose
I know its old, but your stories about mental health were great. Im 42 now, beer is my problem, but its good to know that total strangers care. Thanks dude. Just subscribed the other day when i saw you do the well and clean up an old hand water pump. Thank you so very much Dave.
Got 40 acres in Mid Michigan. No buildings, no power, just woods. I well remember driving up, tent camping, sitting on tailgate after dinner near the fire, sun just setting, having a nice cold (cool) beverage. No traffic, no computers, no conference calls, no phone, no neighbors. Just crackle of the fire and crickets. Stress just dissapears... Two thumbs up.
Men's Mental IS so important, lets not ever forget it. Talking about IT IS ok, stuffing IT down IS what makes us weak. Thanks Dave, this was a good reminder for me to take the time to take care of myself.
You took that challenge to the next level, Dave! It was never about the particular cut of meat. It was about sittin' on yer butt by the fire, tellin' stories. And tell 'em well you did! Point of note: Daisy bit yer ear a little bit right after you said the woofs were gonna git ya's. Kinda tossed yer tease back in yer...ear. Thanks for the chat, and the sounds of meat, sizzling in a pan over a fire.
So many wonderful outdoors channels out there, Dave, but, bar none, your narration is always the absolute darndest best! Truly a gift. Thanks so much for sharing it with us, along with the scenery and your experiences!
Just wanted to say, I've been watching threw your videos for about a week now, and today I started having a particularly hard day, and youtube started playing this video that I had skipped over before.. and instead of changing it, I sat down and watched threw it. And to be honest, I felt better after watching it all the way threw and got back outside and went back to what I was doing. So even though you made this video a few years ago, I just wanted you to know, that your words, from then, still hold power today. And I thank you.
I just started watching your channel, good content, I really appreciate the story’s of people you’ve known, or seen. So many people young and old need this kind of genuine content, thanks to you and your wife.
Great video for a good reason with an awesome message. Dave i've seen about a handful of these "show us your steak" challenge vids, but what i enjoyed the most from yours was showing and reminding folks that you dont need a wallet full of money to go out and enjoy your self in the woods for a few hours and cook yourself up something yummy to eat. ya dont need $600 worth of so called specialized outdoor clothing, ya dont need all the latest high end "bushcraft" accessories. As always Dave good job :)
Thanks Gordon. One thing we don't do on this channel is get fancy!! I think I had spent 10 years using an outhouse and hauling drinking water before I ever heard the word "bushcraft" so this channel is 110% old school, when it comes to modern "bushcraft".
Hello Dave, I've been watching you and Brooke for a couple of years now but I just found this video today and I loooovvveeeddd it!!! I don't know how I missed it for so long. Men's mental health is no joke. My husband is a Viet Nam vet who suffers from flashbacks, depression and anxiety. We've been married for 51 yrs. and only found out about 5 yrs. ago what was causing his problems when we found out he had prostate cancer from Agent Orange, a horrible herbicide used heavily in Nam. I can't really tell the whole story here because this is already a book😁 This is a wonderful video. Love Daisy-Maisy and meat over an open fire AND stories!!! 🥰😊💖😁🤗
Great fireside chat concerning mental health. Well said !! I Liked your analogy with the hamburger steak vs expensive cut of meat. I learned years ago that some of the best experiences in life don't cost a lot of money. A quiet, campfire meal in the woods is often more therapeutic than a night out at an expensive restaurant.
An amazing half, sittin' around the fire with a good dude. I resonate on every level with what you said. Trying to find my path after figuring out I was in denial as to how bad my childhood situation really was. You and Brooke have helped me to see what a true loving family is really like. Amen brother
I've been enjoying Brooke's videos lately. She is a tremendously talented lady. She always recommends your channel on her videos. Very gracious. Tell her hi from her friend from Brimley. Enjoyed your video too.
Good positive message Dave. I have 30 years now of clean and sober time. It took almost six years of prison to get me on the tracks of success but the mess continues. Addiction is a multifarious issue and just stopping the drugs and drink isn't really enough because it really doesn't deal with with underlying issue. In the end, rugged individualism won't work, it takes people holding me accountable for a good quality of life. I can say a lot more, but as I conduct my life I look for opportunities to share my stories, my hope and faith with all who will listen. Thanks!
Thank you for this video! Glad I found you and your wife’s channels a few months back and I always enjoy your content! I’m jealous of the things you guys get to do, absolutely the way to be! Keep up the great content!
What a totally sweet face Daisy has--So pretty. I had a little Yorkie named, Daisy and she was a sweetheart, too. I think a dog may be the best medicine of all because they accept you just as you are and love you without reserve. Thanks for accepting this challenge and your openness to talking about problems. No one is strong all the time. Not one single soul on this planet and there is no shame in having problems. The trouble comes when we lock those problems up inside of us. God bless and keep us all in His loving care.
Excellent video Dave, this one really hit home for me. To hear another guy talk about things that I thought were things only I was feeling was such a load off my shoulders. It's kind of funny how hearing that everyone is kind of messed up too is sort of comforting. Like feeling that you're the only one on an entire planet, and finding out that you're not.
Great video Dave!! Yesterday Christmas day my grandson had figured out what I had did for him for Christmas. He had called an wanted me to bring him a venison steak. Ok I took him one. So after we had opened presents. I had made a leather pouch an had a small fry pan in it. It was more or less a cook kit I put together for him. He disappeared outside. Comes back in the house an wants me to go with him. So I follow him outside. He has a small fire going in his dad's grill. An wants me to help him fry up that steak. Ya get this he is only 8. So I help him out with his meal he's making grandpa. He had a potato wrapped in foil on the edge of the fire. Just had to use his frying pan to cook us steak. Best Christmas ever. I had to save him from his my daughter. She wasn't too happy about him doing all this on his own. So I had to step in an save him. But he said it was my Christmas present so mom backed off an said he wouldn't do it again without someone knowing about it. But that was the best Christmas dinner I ever had. Guess my influence on him is paying off. Anyway Happy New year!! An God Bless!!!
Aubrey Maxam what a great story! I, myself have three boys, 15, 12 and 7, and love to get them outside to cook, camp, hike whatever, but that story melted my heart, eventho it was a lil dangerous for him to start a fire by himself but the willingness of him to want to cook you a meal outside is so fantastic! My dad passed away nearly 14 years ago and their dad isn’t interested in doing anything outside bc it’s either to cold or to hot...so it’s just me, which I wouldn’t trade our memories for nothing. Thanks for your story. Dave, thank you as well friend for taking the time to make a great video on this subject. Happy New Years to you and Brooke! You guys rock! Take care my friend, Nikki.🥳
@@SouthernPatriot1 I'm not worried about him starting a fire. He's been doing it for a couple years now. When we do go camping or hiking. He let's it be known he's in charge of the camp fire an his older brother is the cook. They both been raised outside. I know for sure they could spend a night out in the woods with no problem. One is 9 the other is 10. See back when I was younger a boy 16 was out deer hunting. An he died from exposure. I made a vow right then none of my kids or grandkids were going out this way. I was raised in nature. Was taught if you killed it you ate it. An believe me my grandfather made sure of that. Still think that was my best Christmas present ever. God bless!
@@SouthernPatriot1 one more thing. I'm into living history pre-1840 time period. So these boys are taught the old ways. The one that started the fire used a Flint and steel. He can also use a bow drill too. Ya got to pass this knowledge on or it's lost forever.
I've been in a Bushradical binge weekend. I was new to your channel until this weekend, watched a LOT of your videos. I really like the style of your videos, and it doesn't hurt that the scenery is awesome. Either Alaska or the UP, two gorgeous locales. Looking forward to seeing more, and I'm about to start watching Alone season one tonight. Cheers brother!
“Meat in a pan over a fire”. Says all that needs to be said! Another great video! My daughter and I Love doin this, usually moose or fish! Thanks for keepin it real Dave!
i do the meat in pan over fire now and again: even a spud thrown in with a whack of butter; but tonight though is full moon, i am inside watching more news and flicks of passing of queen elizabeth 2. nz1.16am: and just watched you cooking that meat over fire and thought of my mince thawed out; but cooking it with a twist...cooking some straight for a hard out munch, and the rest...cooked as but added carrots, watercress and water touch of salt, pepper and butter. already eaten sour dough bread earlier then dozed off stuffing the rest up. sizzle sizzle! thanks.
I chuckled through most of this video. I wasn't watching you back when this was done but I'm glad i came across it after the newest EDC video. You and I are about the same age and I was a DIO fan as well. Journey also. I really like how you haven't changed how you are in the videos. Just Awesome.
That was very inspiring I’ve been clean and sober since 2017. My life isn’t perfect but my outlook on life has no limitations whatsoever. I really enjoy watching your videos. 😊
Brooke, Ellie & Nick are blessed to have a man who is wise and introspective as the head of their home! Also in this day and age of people being so against eating beef, as an Iowa girl, you're my hero !!
I'm a carnivore too Dave! Love the sound of meat cooking... You are such a great storyteller, your stories will help someone out there deal with and conquer their demons. Awesome to see you having a good dinner and sharing it with your buddy Daisy!
C2F, Well sort of, he had to hurry home for supper :-0 That was just he and Daisy's afternoon snack and walk ! Daisy , said now that is a walking the dog, is suppose to be .
My favorite type of video to watch, nature, fire, meat, and stories... (Needs a baked tater, or ear of corn though.) I still live these adventures, however, at 77 they occur maybe 5 times a year or so rather than every couple of weeks, so Dave makes a great way to live it vicariously. It wouldn't work for back packing, but a small power station and fan save a lot of blowing and can keep a fire roaring. We still use a bellows with the fireplace at times, but they are becoming a relic of the past.
Thanks for the tag, Dave! I hadn't been tagged until now. A few weeks back I was inspired to do one of these videos. It kind of turned out to be quite an ordeal! One Friday night I went out to do it, but the crappy cool, rainy, and windy weather (and it was dark) caused me to rethink things. I went out the next weekend armed with some better meat and shrimp and enjoyed much better conditions! It's nice to have been officially tagged! I've really liked these videos because everybody goes out and does something just a tad different and says something just a bit different. I've heard quite a lot of good things shared by folks over a fire/stove and a piece of tasty food. Back in the 1990s I had for a while known of the term "woodcraft". I came across it in a lot of camping/outdoors books that I used to look trough. I had recently started to wonder how this "woodcraft" compared to "bushcraft". I looked things up last week and discovered that "woodcraft" is just the American term for what we now call "bushcraft". It seems that bushcraft is a term from Australia and also maybe Europe, and it showed up in North American with Mors Kockanski. But anyway, I cooked my food in a cast iron skillet over the same "Hunter-Trapper" fire lay that you used. It's one of those things that I first learned in one of those Camping and Woodcraft books way back when ;)
@@Bushradical Not at all! Now I can say that I was tagged ;) Heck I might actually find a way to do something new to "fulfill" your tag anew....I'll just have to make sure that I do my pie baking tonight so that I can run off to the woods Friday night before a family get-together on Saturday afternoon.
You said it what more would you want. I had a chuckle when you dipped your beef steak in the grease, woh that's hotter than I thought. It was peaceful just watching you and Daisy talking and enjoying the outdoors
I don’t know how but your channel showed up in my algorithm (whatever the heck that is). I have thoroughly enjoyed every video. You have a calm nature about you that is fun to watch. I have been injured in a drunk driving accident. (Drunk driver crossed the center line and hit me head on.) So your channel has been a big part of my convalescence all summer long. Thank you for doing what you do! I get most of my beef from a farm in Maine. Heartstone Farm is all about grass fed, grass finished beef. They ship it frozen solid directly to my front porch in Massachusetts. It’s so delicious and better for you than grain fed beef. Burgers taste like the beef I had when I was a kid. It’s well worth any premium cost incurred. I love it, my Wife loves it and my Frenchie loves it too. It’s breakfast time here and now I’m gonna go make something sizzle on the stove. 👍
Great video, as a Marine I self medicated for way to long. PTSD, didn't help, when my first child was coming I quit drinking and meds. Stress will kill you, and never be ashamed to ask for help. Lived in the bush from Korea in the winter to Northern Norway. Camp fires and cooking over a wood fire, stress just fades away. Thanks
That was funny Joan fabric and hobby lobby I can totally taste that tea now lmao hilarious I love your content just found your channel I’m from Michigan love the outdoors we camp all the time up in Atlanta Michigan and kalkaska Michigan I was raised up there god bless you and your family happy New Years
Hey Dave thanks for putting up this vid. It all started in the UK with a guy that has a bushcraft channel, I got tagged by a guy over there...then it pretty much went viral with some real big bushcraft/ outdoors channels. I am particularly passionate about this because I was a mental health clinician and psychotherapist for over 20 years. I also helped to launch a Mens Health Week in the City of Kamloops, BC. That was an interesting exercise, we initially had 16 registrants and 14 were women!...it goes to show that men are not good at opening up about either mental health issues, or physical health issues. I believe it is partly as a result of how we have been socialized and brought up by our fathers. My dad was tough and never had a day off work in 20 years despite suffering some severe back pain as a result of his work in the ship-building industry, he died before his time as he had some major health issues he brushed off as trivial. I agree with what you say about first responders and military personnel being susceptible to trauma related mental disorders (including addictions), also, suicide. I had PTSD many years ago and I was lucky to get through it. But I would like to say that it is not just first responders and military personnel who suffer serious mental illness, mental illness is insidious and can come from a series of unrelenting 'life's knocks' unresolved, accumulating until they become overwhelming. it can also be hereditary in some cases, like BiPolar Disorder, one f the worst mental illnesses. It is great that you and many other men in the bushcraft/ outdoors community have stepped up to the plate, it is already giving some hope to men who are watching our channels and spreading out to the wider community. I hope you had a great Christmas and I send Best Wishes to you Brooke and your family for health, Happiness and Prosperity in 2019, WS.
Thanks WS. I appreciate the comment. The whole topic is so big its hard to get a handle on. The show me you steak challenge has been a pretty valuable tag. P.S. we had a great Christmas and I hope you did as well. Thanks
@@Bushradical Thanks, yes Great Christmas and Boxing Day, we are taking a break house-sitting in the city, yesterday hanging out with friends who live in a lake side community, had a nice hike in snow with their dogs (German Pointer and Cocker Spaniel) ...soon I must head back to the Bush though :)
It's the appreciation for the simple things in life that keep you on the straight and narrow Dave. You seem to have that all figured out. Great video with a great message.
Dave Thank You I get to watch you on occasion what a wonderful message ! God BLESS You I have been sober going on 8 years God willing I will remain that way I KNOW MY GOD HAS A PLAN FOR ME will let him show me the way
I'm watching this video after 4 years of upload but I completely agree with you. I'm in my early 20's and I kinda had a traumatic childhood, but I managed not to destroy my life up. Going to the GYM and riding my motorcycle gives me joy and it feels blessed to have whatever I've less or more we got. May God bless every soul who's going through a tough phase of their life.
i just want to thank you for this video as im not sure when u did this . but i just found your channel about a week ago and i seen this vid this morning it really kicked me in the head about mens mental health im not proud to say that i am an alcoholic and this video has really made me think .also im not ashamed to say i had tears come out and as they were running i got thinking thank you for makeing this take care and be radical eh!
You’re a good dude! Men’s mental health is very important! My life is a mess, I know it is. First of all I know it’s a mess, second of all I try my best everyday and third, I luckily can talk to my wife and vent as needed. Keep up these sort of videos, it keeps my mind clear.
Just discovering your and Girl in the Woods content: Sorely needed balm of simplicity and common sense in these times. Almost missed this video as I nearly skipped the title, thinking it was some social media challenge trend silliness. Respectfully, I hope you'll consider editing the title. This is such a needed message and discussion that is far more powerful than grilled meat and internet fashions. Your choice in executing the challenge is, genuinely, so preciously thoughtful. By deliberately choosing to adjust the challenge to accommodate those with limited means (chopped meat vs. fancy steak) and then sharing your meal - you layer powerful meaning in your "content". Well done (pun intended).
A great video. I know many members of my extended family and friends that need help but as you say; "Oh it isn't me. I am fine". They are an accident waiting to happen on the road. Thanks Dave. Loved this video. I watch "Girl in the Woods all the time. But as you have said, "I don't make a lot on videos to post".. This one is a keeper.
Just caught up with this video. Very chill and simple with a pertinent message. If nothing else, nature and the great outdoors is good for anyone's mental health. Good video. 👍
I have begun to watch Dave also. Today I watched the shower house build and thought how blessed you two are to have each other!. You work well together and yet independently strong in your own rights! God's design for sure. Compliment and complete. Thanks to you both for what you do by making these videos. You are helping so many by it ! Love ya !
Just seen this, it's good to hear someone with some of the same stories. Back in the 80s me and a friend would go camping and cooking on the campfire at night was some of the best meals. Food, Fire and BS talk with friends. It's still fun, 👍👍
The absolute Simple man. Sir i like all your videos, thank you a lot for all these great moments, an perpetual invitation for living simple and happy, you inpired me and help me tu change and become simple ; a follower From Belgium ! God bless you and your Family
Dave...one of your best videos...well stated thoughts. Grounded in reality. Campfire, well prepared meal, and outdoors to think in. Thank you for sharing.
Well, I subscribed a few months ago, watched most of your videos and would really like it if you keep this up. Winters are long in Northern Michigan and your videos make quarantine, a few beers and my old corncob pipe with a load of half & half a good experience. The ambient pan fry sound for 24 hours was a nice touch made me want to head to the Hemlocks & touch off a fire. Our hillside is north facing and there is wet ground down low, so we have LOTS of Hemlocks that are great winter cover for the songbirds and summer cover for the hummingbirds. Keep having fun with Daisy and make more videos.
Did not know you where about the mental health and anxiety thing in your shows...wow man really that is a good thing brother you just made my wife cry good tears ....keep up that stuff man great thing to help out with...hog for life.
Merry Christmas to you and your family ! Nice talk about the dark side. I'm 56 and been through a lot of it, seen a lot of it , and lost some over it. Every one has their shit going on. I've been sober 9 years , but still have some issues ( main one is getting a job ,lol) But , I've grown humble and have a much better soul , and still a loving family. All the best in 2019 ! Pete in Edm.Ab.
@@Bushradical Thanks a lot Dave. Seriously , give me a heads-up when your doing that again ; I'm like 2 minutes south of the Yellowhead , right on your route. Would Love to have you ( and hopefully the Mrs.) over for a coffee !
Hello Dave, thank you for sharing the information on men's mental health. This is truly a challenging topic. At times, all of us can use a helping hand from our friends or family. We cannot keep our problems bottled up inside. Conversely, we could be the one to lend a willing ear to a friend or family member. You handled this delicate topic quite. I am sorry that I missed your dinner invitation. A good craft beer would really hit the spot right now. Dave, I like your dog. She is a good camping and hiking companion. Take care out there, be safe and always have fun. 🤗
i just wanna comment on this 4 year old video that you are so SMART for wanting to eat the oil from the beef... so many people nowadays say you should throw the fat away... love your videos, thank you.
@@Bushradical when the challenge came out I had something like 10+ subscribers so no one really knew me, hence I decided to go ahead and just do a steak anyways even without a tag - I just wanted to try help spread the idea not knowing how big it would really get! Cheers bro
I hope the exposure did your channel good. This video got a lot more views than a lot of my videos do, so there is definitely people who are following the challenge videos and watching just because of the challenge. Its been a good thing for the creators and the cause.
@@Bushradical It did bro, I'm a little diapointed though with my nominated tags, of the three, one alread had been tagged a week earlier so he is just busy but will get on it, one other replied that he is busy but didn't say if he would do it or not and to date he has uploaded like 5-7 videos (I tagged them all well over a month ago) so it seems he isn't going to get it done, the other guy still hasn't even responded! ah well, the caue is there and it is exploding which is great. cheers
I’m a little late in getting to this video. It was awesome! Thanks for talking about men’s mental health. We all need to hear this and be reminded that there are people who can help and people to helped if we can.
Nothing more relaxing than watching you make a fire Dave...Da Woof is just so happy in the woods just like his dad :-) 23:41 when you say meat in a pan sounds to relax...forget that ocean and seagulls junk LMAO so true!!! Thanks for sharing!
Good to see you take a break from all your hard work. Thanks for the stories. Good stuff! Daisy loves her daddy. Crazy that you saw a Bear in December. I have never seen one that late in the season in Minnesota. Have a great New Year Dave.!
Enjoy your videos, something I want to try is pine needle tea. Something about eating in the woods it all tastes better for some reason. Even the beer...lol. Happy New Year from Ontario Canada!
Great video and topic!!! Reminds me of the time some friends and I were in the woods . We had a few beers with us and we were cooking burgers on the fire just like you did. We also had no plates so we just put them in a cup! That was the birth of burger-in a-cup. Some of our best times growing up was spent in the woods!!!
How do you film yourself and get those awesome shots. And those stories 🥰 I can listen for hours, thank you Dave, and continue putting out these great storytelling and we’ll keep watching 😇❤️
Thanks for sharing that story, I've been in recovery for 7 years now and still sober by the grace of God. In my program my sponsor told me early on we will always be in recovery. My youngest son a Marine was in Iraq then Afghanistan with PTS. Has had multiple DUI, I try to help but that old saying you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. I just pray for him and others that they will want to have help. I had to ask for help. More life to make a change, keep your PRIDE but ask for help.

I well remember driving up, tent camping, sitting on tailgate after dinner near the fire, sun just setting, having a nice cold (cool)
beverage. No traffic, no computers, no conference calls, no phone, no neighbors. Just crackle of the fire and crickets. Stress just dissapears... Two thumbs up.
I bunt the 2 best decades of my life I'm 42 I been clean for 6 years and I'm doing good I find your inspirational
Men's Mental IS so important, lets not ever forget it. Talking about IT IS ok, stuffing IT down IS what makes us weak. Thanks Dave, this was a good reminder for me to take the time to take care of myself.
I absolutely loved this video. Every minute of it. Thanks, Dave. Hope you're all doing great.
Thanks. It was a nice afternoon out
My Good I saw this video at least 2 times, it is so relaxing how you talk and deal with nature . This is pure essence of life
So many wonderful outdoors channels out there, Dave, but, bar none, your narration is always the absolute darndest best! Truly a gift. Thanks so much for sharing it with us, along with the scenery and your experiences!
Thank you Calvin. Ive listened to myself talk for 40+ years and never thought nothing of it....it always amazes me when someone likes my narration.
Dave you're an inspiration. Thank you for being who you are, brother.
This has got to be one of the BEST videos of yours that you've made to date! Thank you so much ... from Nova Scotia, Canada
A quiet, campfire meal in the woods is often more therapeutic than a night out at an expensive restaurant.
me too brother! I enjoyed showing appreciation and recognizing mental health. Thanks
An amazing half, sittin' around the fire with a good dude. I resonate on every level with what you said. Trying to find my path after figuring out I was in denial as to how bad my childhood situation really was. You and Brooke have helped me to see what a true loving family is really like. Amen brother
You're awesome Dave. You and Brook both really inspire me. Thank you.
Thanks
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing the comment Bruce.
Thank you for this video! Glad I found you and your wife’s channels a few months back and I always enjoy your content! I’m jealous of the things you guys get to do, absolutely the way to be! Keep up the great content!
Dave - thanks for living in the moment and showing us how to pursue mental and spiritual health
Love watching you and Brooke on your adventures! Both are so fun and complement each other!!!
Dave... I have missed videos like this from you and Brooke! I had to go back in time to get my fill. Thanks. I love both of y'alls videos!
Thank you Mawmawvee
Thanks Aubrey, I love that story!!
memories for both, forever
Thank you for your stories and for being who you are. Men and women I am sure benefit from your life experiences. Keep up these wonderful videos.
Literally don't think I have been so obsessed with a youtube channel. Thank you for uploading and sharing content with us all!
“Meat in a pan over a fire”. Says all that needs to be said! Another great video! My daughter and I Love doin this, usually moose or fish! Thanks for keepin it real Dave!
Thanks Larry
i do the meat in pan over fire now and again: even a spud thrown in with a whack of butter; but tonight though is full moon, i am inside watching more news and flicks of passing of queen elizabeth 2. nz1.16am: and just watched you cooking that meat over fire and thought of my mince thawed out; but cooking it with a twist...cooking some straight for a hard out munch, and the rest...cooked as but added carrots, watercress and water touch of salt, pepper and butter. already eaten sour dough bread earlier then dozed off stuffing the rest up. sizzle sizzle!
Thanks Diana
I'm a carnivore too Dave! Love the sound of meat cooking...
You are such a great storyteller, your stories will help someone out there deal with and conquer their demons.
Awesome to see you having a good dinner and sharing it with your buddy Daisy!
Thanks C2F! We had a great time.
C2F,
Well sort of, he had to hurry home for supper :-0 That was just he and Daisy's afternoon snack and walk ! Daisy , said now that is a walking the dog, is suppose to be .
Thanks, Dave for another great video. I loved what you said about appreciating the small things in life. Well said.
Thanks David.
I thank god for you and Brooke . Came at a very difficult time in my life , you guys help making it better . THANK YOU :)
I love your philosophy! It’s the simple things that matter! Keep on keepin on ! Be radical! Love 💕 your Daisy pup She’s the best
It's one of those things that I first learned in one of those Camping and Woodcraft books way back when ;)
Hey Gareth. I have had it in my mind for a while to do some cooking videos , I think I may go shoot some this week.
Sorry you already did your video.
I loved the story of you and your buddy out in the woods, the stuff life is made of.
Thanks
That was funny Joan fabric and hobby lobby I can totally taste that tea now lmao hilarious I love your content just found your channel I’m from Michigan love the outdoors we camp all the time up in Atlanta Michigan and kalkaska Michigan I was raised up there god bless you and your family happy New Years
Dave you're helping me to be more sensitve to people around me with similar issues to just encourage. Thanks for show, happy holidays.
Thanks Yolanda.
Man you make perfect sense. Stress is the worst. Makes me want to hike into the woods and cook a steak. I think I’ll do that!
go for it
It's the appreciation for the simple things in life that keep you on the straight and narrow Dave. You seem to have that all figured out. Great video with a great message.
Thanks Dano!
@@Bushradical you're welcome Dave
Your videos sir. Are therapy to watch… Truly inspiring
I love your videos! You and Brooke should have your own tv show. Very interesting stuff, and it feels like I'm hanging out with an old friend.
i just want to thank you for this video as im not sure when u did this . but i just found your channel about a week ago and i seen this vid this morning it really kicked me in the head about mens mental health im not proud to say that i am an alcoholic and this video has really made me think .also im not ashamed to say i had tears come out and as they were running i got thinking thank you for makeing this take care and be radical eh!
wish I could like this multiple times. Love hearing your stories
Thanks Jordan.
You’re a good dude! Men’s mental health is very important! My life is a mess, I know it is. First of all I know it’s a mess, second of all I try my best everyday and third, I luckily can talk to my wife and vent as needed. Keep up these sort of videos, it keeps my mind clear.
You are so right, there is something about watching someone cook that is relaxing. Seeing how much you eat, I would rather pay you than feed you.
Good video. 👍
I love this man and his wof
Thanks hon.
I have begun to watch Dave also. Today I watched the shower house build and thought how blessed you two are to have each other!. You work well together and yet independently strong in your own rights! God's design for sure. Compliment and complete. Thanks to you both for what you do by making these videos. You are helping so many by it ! Love ya !
Words of truth Dave. We are all a wreck and we all need Christ. God bless you brother
Just seen this, it's good to hear someone with some of the same stories. Back in the 80s me and a friend would go camping and cooking on the campfire at night was some of the best meals. Food, Fire and BS talk with friends. It's still fun, 👍👍
Wish you and brooke a Happy New Year! Very true, and sad stories. I enjoyed hearing them and being a long with you. Great job browning your meat.
Thanks Ron
The absolute Simple man. Sir i like all your videos, thank you a lot for all these great moments, an perpetual invitation for living simple and happy, you inpired me and help me tu change and become simple ; a follower From Belgium ! God bless you and your Family
Dave...one of your best videos...well stated thoughts. Grounded in reality. Campfire, well prepared meal, and outdoors to think in. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Starkraven.
Where is the bun?
This is a great video that I'm sure has helped many people. God bless you for sharing this! 👍🙏♥️
A lotta wisdom on this channel, good, simple wisdom. :)
Did not know you where about the mental health and anxiety thing in your shows...wow man really that is a good thing brother you just made my wife cry good tears ....keep up that stuff man great thing to help out with...hog for life.
Dave, you do know how to cook a hunk of dead animal! Your method is superb...simple, effective and fun.
Merry Christmas to you and your family ! Nice talk about the dark side. I'm 56 and been through a lot of it, seen a lot of it , and lost some over it. Every one has their shit going on.
I've been sober 9 years , but still have some issues ( main one is getting a job ,lol)
But , I've grown humble and have a much better soul , and still a loving family.
All the best in 2019 ! Pete in Edm.Ab.
Thanks for the comment Pete. Love the Edmonton area BTW. I take 37 from Ft. Saskatchewan over to 43 twice a year.
@@Bushradical Thanks a lot Dave. Seriously , give me a heads-up when your doing that again ; I'm like 2 minutes south of the Yellowhead , right on your route. Would Love to have you ( and hopefully the Mrs.) over for a coffee !
Will do.
Thanks Ronald!
i just wanna comment on this 4 year old video that you are so SMART for wanting to eat the oil from the beef... so many people nowadays say you should throw the fat away... love your videos, thank you.
Thanks brother for joining in the Challenge! Very important and glad to see it spreading internationally.
Cheers from London UK
I was happy to accept the tag. Thanks BushmanAOD.
@@Bushradical It did bro, I'm a little diapointed though with my nominated tags, of the three, one alread had been tagged a week earlier so he is just busy but will get on it, one other replied that he is busy but didn't say if he would do it or not and to date he has uploaded like 5-7 videos (I tagged them all well over a month ago) so it seems he isn't going to get it done, the other guy still hasn't even responded! ah well, the caue is there and it is exploding which is great. cheers
I think only one of the folks I tagged got around to it, so don't feel like you're alone.
I’m a little late in getting to this video. It was awesome! Thanks for talking about men’s mental health. We all need to hear this and be reminded that there are people who can help and people to helped if we can.
Thanks Chris. I'm glad to like the vid!
You are so likable Dave. Your JoAnn Fabric comment was funny. Lol Great video!!
I love your description of the tea, sure made me laugh.
Also Love your stories and the way to tell them.
Thanks
Nothing more relaxing than watching you make a fire Dave...Da Woof is just so happy in the woods just like his dad :-) 23:41 when you say meat in a pan sounds to relax...forget that ocean and seagulls junk LMAO so true!!! Thanks for sharing!
You’re telling us how to start a fire because you’re a beauty Dave. Lol
Another enjoyable video 😍😺. Thanks for sharing this with me.
Dave you have a good voice. Very easy n relaxing to listen to your stories.
Thank you kindly
Good to see you take a break from all your hard work. Thanks for the stories. Good stuff!
Daisy loves her daddy. Crazy that you saw a Bear in December. I have never seen one that late in the season in Minnesota. Have a great New Year Dave.!
Yeah, it was wild! but here in Michigan its been quite mild. ( no rhyme intended)
Enjoy your videos, something I want to try is pine needle tea. Something about eating in the woods it all tastes better for some reason. Even the beer...lol. Happy New Year from Ontario Canada!
Thanks Steve. Happy new years. BTW where in Ontario?
Brockville located on the St. Lawrence, 50 miles east of Kingston
Burger in a cup. I love it Tom!
Excellent thanks for the time you have spent doing this, love dog xx
How do you film yourself and get those awesome shots. And those stories 🥰 I can listen for hours, thank you Dave, and continue putting out these great storytelling and we’ll keep watching 😇❤️
Glad you enjoyed it
Yummy steak cooking in the woods, 🔥🥩 🌲great stories and info. Love watching your channel and Brookes. Your both an awesome couple. 🌲🇨🇦
Dave THANKYOU so much for talking about men's health, we need more leader such as yourself.
Thanks RB, I appreciate that
I love dogs! Daisy is so cute!
