      Most diver's trying to "Bio-train" local wildlife have been given information of how get certain native species to (safely!) Predate on Lionfish.
      The issue with the lionfish are their spines. Once a shark or grouper or whatever is taught, "Eat this invasive SOB from the front!" They remember it. It's still learning hunting patterns.

    Watching divers and groupers behaving like hunters and hunting dogs is amazing. Also, this proves we have little to no understanding of the minds of fish, and definitely the minds all animals that have larger and more complex brains. A grouper that works along side of a driver to eat lionfish and then behaves like a puppy when the diver pets him shows that only the surface is revealed in human animal relationships. As for myself I would never dive or take dorsal fin ride with a 15 foot great white, yet those that control their fear have unbelievable footage of divers interacting with great whites.

    • @docgiggles130
      @docgiggles130 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The venom is released when the skin over the spine is pushed down the spine when it is impaling something. By teaching the grouper to swallow head first, the spines are forced to fold down and can’t swing out to where they could stab the grouper. The venom is then safely destroyed by the stomach acid.
      The lion fish doesn’t have any natural predators in the areas it’s now invading so teaching the grouper how to hunt them will help control the lion fish by turning them into the lion fish predators.

      The lion fish has venom, not poison. The stomach acid is able to destroy the venom. Grouper eat other spiny animals so they just need to be shown how to hunt lion fish. The grouper would figure it out over time, but teaching this way speeds it up and hopefully can control the lion fish population before the lion fish can wipe out all the other fish in the area.

    I get why but what I don't understand is these lion fishes are new to the area, then how aren't the local fish dying after eating them for the first time considering, their spikes and what it contains?

    • @madasahatter5514

      Iskinder Sam venom is harmless when ingested. It's only lethal if injected thru the spines of lionfish. Poison on the other hand is only useful if ingested.

    What is wrong with lionfish? Are they some kind of threat to other sea creatures if theres too many of them?

    • @dylankersten3383
      @dylankersten3383 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They're actually an invasive species. They are originally from the Indian ocean, not the atlantic.

    Man that's great! The groupers having a new fish to hunt, maybe it will help the population of groupers recover and put some big, fat super sized adults back at the top to make the species healthy again.
