My new Ultra 2024 and Sparmax compressor arrived this morning so looking forward to getting back into the hobby after a 47 year layoff - Thanks Warrick for your inspirational videos which dispel all the myths about using the airbrush and all the hints and tips which have helped me prepare. Keep up the excellent video series.
Hey buddy - awesome! Keep us informed, and please be sure to let us know if you need any more support in getting going again. The painting process video and the instructions which you'll find from the QR code on the back of your airbrush's test card will get you started in a good way! W
As a military veteran who's had an incident overseas, I now have limited mobility in my hand and the few times using other air brushes my friends own I typically get frustrated by how cramped or fatigued my hand and wrist gets after just a few models being primed. I eventually gave up airbrushing; I simply assumed "well it just is what it is" but I had a chance to try out an Evolution Solo at a painting meet up with local friends and the ergonomics on that particular model helped me so much, it wasn't as pencil shaped and thin with a very low profile button that was difficult to get to with a missing digit. The more torpedo shape to the design with the very tall trigger cupped and gripped my finger allowed me to not only prime all of my models in one sitting without taking a break, but I also did my first zenithal highlights with an airbrush instead of aerosol cans; and Base coated over 20 miniatures all red. It was the quickest and weirdly one of the most satisfying moments I've had in the hobby doing something that most everyone can do but take for granted. Since that meetup and using the airbrush without getting Striking pain throughout my wrist and fingers I've been researching Harder and Steenbeck to find out what would be a good entry airbrush to get; thankfully this series showing off the new ultra seems to be a perfect match! Thank you guys so much for what you do.
Buddy, please email me on wjs@harder-airbrush.de and let's get in touch on WhatsApp. We manufacture every single part of all our airbrushes under one roof, so it's relatively easy for us to make custom parts to help out people with limited mobility in their hands. I'm confident that we can create a one-off for you which will let you airbrush for as long as you like. Please get in touch. I'd love to help, and we all enjoy a challenge here at H&S, especially when it can help someone who gave so much to help others.
@scottyboy6269 I had used previous trigger styles from another well known company and it worked well for simple "blasting" of models; I could have simply purchased one for priming but that particular model there wasn't really any "techniques" I could preform minus all over coats, I ordered the ultra and hope it'll help me out in gradually building up endurance from priming, base coating, glazing and getting my hand use to working in a more precise way to be able to work with finesse; nothing insane I'm not trying to make competitive models or statues.
@@harderairbrush as a disabled guy my self, just coming across this comment, this shows that H&S look after their customers no matter what a person's needs
I just ordered this airbrush. I have only used a very basic and cheap one. I'm really looking forward to having a very high quality airbrush that will not only help me learn but be very usable when I become more proficient. I also really like the fact that you not only designed the airbrush in Germany but you make them there in Germany! You did not farm out manufacturing to China. That really says a lot to me personally.
Thanks Christian. We like to have total control over our product. Having the full design, research and ALL manufacturing processes for ALL parts here under one roof really helps us to learn faster, and develop better.
@@harderairbrush How come H&S doesn't sell a kit with the airbrush and its stand in the same box? I would have bought that! Instead I had to buy your airbrush and then bought the stand. I understand that some people will not like to have both but it you offer the airbrush and then a kit package that would be great!
This video and the mini demo are the first videos (after watching countless mini painting airbrush videos over the years) where I’ve thought ‘i reckon I could actually do that’. Warwick’s way of demonstrating, explanations and presentation style are also fantastic. I’ve watched everything again just today. I’ll definitely be preordering this evening and getting into airbrushing.
Ah thanks for this comment! That's exactly what we're hoping for! And based on our beta testing with other beginners, I'm certain that you'll have a wonderful first hour of painting if you follow along with the painting video as reference. Thanks again!
Heeeey! Great to see you here! Thanks for being such a great help to so many with your general helpfulness and supportiveness of the community! Always noted and always appreciated :-)
I consider myself an experienced airbrush user, but I've just ordered one and can't wait. not only does it seem beginner friendly but it sounds like the perfect "work horse" airbrush, and as a commission painter who constantly leans on one to get great work done fast this sounds great. the idea that I don't need to use my expensive Infinity to do priming and base coat work and I can use it solely for details is great for me. cannot wait to get it in a couple weeks time!
The double action was always my achilles heel so I consigned myself to a pistol grip and paint brushes, I've just ordered this airbrush because it adressed my needs and at an absolutely great price. These videos are brilliant for amateurs like me.
Just ordered an Ultra 2024 with the Sparmax Pro compressor. A little cheaper than I was expecting & can't wait to get started once it's delivered. I had a look at several, but these videos made it easy to decide on the Ultra. Fantastic work from Warrick & the team. Thank you.
OHHHH I lke the way you present the product , it's clear precise. Everything you say was butter I order 2 days ago well done mate. And Iam myself a beginner and I am convice that with your advice I will have a very good painting journey. So thank you for your good work!
I dove straight in with an Infinity CR Plus and I love it but I do wish this was available back then. It would have made concentrating on the painting more than the technique easier. Glad to see you are making airbrushing more accessible to beginners. Great job H&S !
Thanks so much! It's true, you can definitely start with an Infinity, of course. But this one does make instant results available on day one, and we really do believe that the Ultra will remain useful even when a painter has progressed up through the Evolution and to the Infinity.
Exactly what I've been looking for to get me through the early stages of learning to use an airbrush. Just ordered the Squidmar version, can't wait for it to arrive!
A few weeks ago I bought the Ultra 2024 as my first airbrush ever and I love it! I jumped into airbrushing blindly and just started to hear about the problems that some people seem to have with clogging and stuff like that, now that I am watching some tutorials and stuff. I mainly just use the ultra for priming and basecoating right now, but I have never had any issues with clogging or anything at all really. I clean the tip of the needle every 10-20 models or something and that's it - smooth sailing! What I especially like is the lock that prevents you from pulling the needle back without pushing the trigger first. I sometimes feel it, when I don't properly press the trigger down. I can definitely tell that it's "teaching" me correct technique 😅 The only issue I have is that the cup doesn't seal properly and a bit of paint leaks out of the cup onto the body of the airbrush. I tried pushing the cup in, as tight as possible, but still a bit of paint or cleaner is leaking. I don't know if it's a common problem with this model or if it's just my particular airbrush. Nonetheless I would definitely recommend the ultra 2024 to anyone, especially if you're getting into airbrushing. I'm having a blast with this thing and I feel like it helped me to avoid all the things that give people a bad first experience with airbrushing 👍
A wonderful set of innovations, inclusive, instead of exclusive, H&S keep moving forward and listening to customers and dealers, I wish I'd had an AB like this in the 1970s.✌️👍💜😊 I enjoy my three H&S brushes very much.
@@harderairbrush You're most welcome, credit where credit is due, I have health challenges these days, time and effort are very precious to me, so I need to "do easy". I've written a few railway modelling articles over the years and about six years or so ago, I wrote about the innovations of my H&S Infinity (it was pictured in the background). I wanted more railway modellers to model make and paint their models well, because the hobby has given me so much over the years. Hobbies are great forms of creation and therapy ✌️👍💜😊
I wish I had this when I started out! These are really good ideas for a starter airbrush and I can attest to the ease of use for removing and reinserting the needle, since the Giraldez has this feature too. I'm really intrigued by the new collar, gotta see this taken apart to see how you've done it 😂 Congrats on the evolution of the airbrush design... again! Innovation is H&S' signature in my opinion.
Thanks very much! Glad you're finding the needle nut concept working well for you on the Giraldez. The new collar is really fun. I'm interested to see if people can figure out how the feel of a spring loaded ratchet is achieved, given that it has no moving parts other than the collar itself, and no spring :-) as with everything worth designing, it's really simple. But rather difficult to machine. And we love solutions like that - easy for you, and a technical challenge for us!
I saw your interview with Squidmar and had somehow bought one before the video had finished! You guys genuinely come across as such a good company - can’t wait till it arrives.
I think the stepped collar is a brilliant design choice for the target of this model - me! Ensures consistent behaviour at each step removes a variable that easily prevents repeatability for new users. I appreciate too, that as experience increases you've got all the trigger nuance until you hit the stop. Cleaning is also very appealing knowing how fragile a needles taper is. As a first timer, for me it's a no brainer. I just need to find one in stock in Australia ;) Thank you.
Ah thanks so much man! I was talking about you the other day, and I hope you don't mind, but I couldn't remember the channel name, so I referred to you as "the Wet Sock Guy" - such an awesome hack!!! They're available at www.harder-airbrush.net - thanks so much for your interest - really appreciate it!
Looking forward to getting one of these (maybe for Christmas!!) . I struggle to find the time to paint due to poor motivation/ depression and often get frustrated when |I do break out the airbrush as muscle memory has faded away. This will also be brilliant for my son who is coming into the miniatures hobby but does not like painting. Hopefully this will be rally easy to use and bring some of the fun back to airbrush painting. I do have a quick question, can the quick release fitting be changed out? I do not have a quick release on my current airbrush, so may need to source a fitting for my hose if the quick release cannot be removed. Cheers and keep up the amazing work!!
Great question - no it's not. But it does mean that nothing sticks to it! So when you want to clean up the back end of the airbrush, just wipe it, and relube. Super fast, no drama. Best product, Iwata Superlube. You'll only need the smallest size - it will last a lifetime.
I looked online at the accessories and for just £12 you can buy a 0.2m needle that works with this airbrush.. amazing and affordable.. I could just buy a second 2024 and keep one on 0.45 and one on 0.2 and do everything I could want! Amazing stuff H&S - so very impressed!
Hey buddy - sorry not quite as good as that! If you want to switch to 0.28mm set-up then you need the needle, nozzle and aircap as a set. People often refer to changing the needle but it’s not like that with any brand - it’s always the whole headset. If you want the finer performance, the needle, nozzle and aircap always have to be changed as a set. Hope that helps! W
@@harderairbrush, still, I “could” upgrade the Ultra with that set though? if so, that’s still pretty awesome. I thought I had to go up to the evolution of infinity to get finer.. Am very impressed so far :)
Hi Warrick, just bought an Ultra 2024 and it should arrive to me in the next couple of days (considering courier tracking) :)!!! I'm a scale model addicted and I firstly used a "low cost" airbrush, then probably one year ago, I decided to go for an H&S Ultra. Bought it, I found it much much much better that the previous "low cost" one and I enjoyed airbrushing a lot! In the last few weeks I started having issues with it (no colour coming out from the airbrush, air valve stucked, etc etc) and in the meantime, when I decided to go for a new one, i start seeing your videos.... So: 1) I understood how many mistakes I was doing with the old Ultra (and I'll try to fix them) and 2) i decided to buy the new one :) As said, I'm a scale modeler so I need to paint very small details and I'm wondering if I need a 2mm needle and nozzle, considering that the Ultra 2024 has a 0,45mm... What's your advice? And in case I need them, where can I found them (on the H&S website I wasn't able to find them)? Thanks a lot and please keep going on with your videos, they are a pleasure to watch and I love them!!!
Hi Gianca - sorry that I missed your question for these last days. Really happy to hear that the videos have been helpful! Thanks for letting us know... As for the very small details... firstly, that 0.45mm in the ULTRA 2024 is capable of very good details. Learn to max that out first! It will really help you get the absolutely maximum from your 0.28mm when you get it. Then I would advise you to take the 0.28mm for the EVOLUTION 2024 as your upgrade head for the ULTRA. It works beautifully together. We are releasing a few upgrade paths for the ULTRA very soon. Stay tuned, and we will announce it all here when it's ready for you! Thanks so much for joining us!
Awesome engineering on this airbrush. My airbrushing journey began about a year ago with the Evolution, and oh boy, I did really struggle with trigger control back then! But after a few thousand dots and few kilometers of straight lines, I am getting the hang of it. Even though I got the Giraldez Infinity (that is airbrush is just 🤯) two days ago, I would not mind to add the Ultra to my H&S lineup.
Beginner here, this looks wonderful! Just wondering if any of these feature could be limiting as I grow as a painter? Wondering in particular if the max trigger length collar can be set to some kind of "free" setting that is as long as on a standard Ultra airbrush, and if the push-down first and push-back then is not something that could also be limiting in some settings? Thank you in advance :)
GREAT question. Yes, there is a "free" setting with the collar - it's necessary for cleaning and we suggest that once you've gotten the hang of the trigger control, you won't need to use the collar any more. It's really just there to short cut your learning so that you're able to feel what's right for certain situations as per the painting process video, and we find that really speeds up the learning curve. With regard to the sequenced trigger - again, for certain specialised texturing applications, this trigger would be a problem, but not for anything else, really. No beginner will have the control to learn those techniques though, but for when they do, we have already developed a trigger that you can upgrade to which will eliminate the sequencing functionality. We haven't finalised the price yet, but I expect it will be somewhere around €17 plus VAT. But I certainly would not describe it as necessary for progression at all. You'll be able to paint to very high levels with this trigger system :-)
Hey buddy - unfortunately they cannot. It's really a pretty radical new development of the whole concept of what a starter airbrush can be. The chassis of the old Ultra just wasn't designed to support this extra functionality. What we have focussed on is making sure that the price really doesn't change much. This airbrush, despite being finished in triple chrome, actually is less expensive than the out-going Ultra 2in1.
This is a very nice redesign. I have the previous version that was sold with 10 Vallejo paints (which was exceptional value) and my main issues with it were the cup size and the control of the trigger. Both are now addressed. For anyone starting out, this looks like a brilliant tool. My next airbrush will most likely be an Infinity, but this could be a decent option.
This looks like an awesome beginner brush! Is it safe to use alcohol based acrylics and solvent based paints like enamels through this brush? Or are the seals only suitable for water based acrylics?
You can put whatever you like through it - nozzle seal and needle seal are high grade self-lubricating PTFE. We use a seal around the aircap as well and this is a very specific type of o-ring, which has excellent solvent resistance. Solvents, no problem in the paint bearing parts. As normal for any airbrush, make sure that the air valve remains solvent free, and if you do get solvent on it, use our air valve revival hack as detailed in our Need to Know Basics playlist :-)
Hi Colin - the needle bearing and the nozzle seal are both PTFE; the seal between the airvalve and the body is a special proprietary PTFE material; the o-ring around the aircap is high-grade VITON for excellent solvent resistance.
Ordered mine for my first ever airbrush! How long will these take to ship? And is the “Fengda Airbrush Mini Compressor FD-186” a good compressor to start with? Thanks
Just received mine! Looking forward to being able to tackle more mini painting with this tool. Question, if there a recommend PSI for the compressor for optimal use of the Ultra?
We have seen several requests for this. I have a new design which I'm evaluating right now, but my instinct to this is that, yes, it's likely that we will create another cup... W
Hey Gary - yes the new set-ups all use the v2 needle, so your 0.2mm v2 needles will fit all 0.2xmm nozzles, and your 0.4mm v2 needles will fit all 0.4xmm nozzles.
@harderairbrush Hi buddy nice one I'm going to order one today really looking forward to use this new airbrush as I'm fairly new to airbrushing thank you very much for getting back to me. cheers Gary.
This is very exciting- I am wondering though if people with a nickel allergy can use these? Seems like there might be some nickel in the triple chrome plate? I really really wanted a H&S for my first airbrush, but the more affordable ultra is nickel plate, and was concerned about how the .4 would work with primer/thicker acrylics. So if I can use it, this would be perfect. Do you know when Spraygunner might start getting these in? I mean, I know as soon as they do they’ll sell out and be a 6 month wait lol. But when do you plan to drop it in the piranha tank?
WELL! I have some wonderful news for you! We have dropped nickel plating as a final finish, specifically for this reason. Yes, Nickel is the second stage of a triple plate Chrome process, but the Chrome makes the Nickel totally inaccessible to your skin, and if you have a Nickel allergy, you will not experience it with our triple Chrome plate. The new ULTRA with the new 0.45mm set-up will handle almost anything, as long as you think it in the usual way. It takes all sorts of paint, and this is the reason for this set-up really. Spraygunner should get their inventory early November at the latest, I think. I really hope that they don't experience a 6 month way at any point, and we'll do everything we can to make sure that they don't! However, if you cannot find inventory anywhere else, you can always check our store as a back-up. Thanks very much for choosing our ULTRA as your first airbrush - I'm confident that you'll be really pleased with it!
I finally got around to using my Ultra 2024 and have a question. I had no issue priming, the Stynylrez went on smooth as heck. But when trying to basecoat and do some highlighting on skin (I was using Kimera paint), my tip was drying absurdly fast. I'm talking maybe 30 seconds of spraying. I diluted the paint with thinner, added flow improver, it was pretty liquid and thin, but it kept happening. Any ideas on what could be going on?
Well you can see the painting process clearly in the Painting Process video - we deliberately shot it as continuous so that the WHOLE painting process including dealing with tip-dry can be seen. Tip dry of course does also vary with humidity. The lower, the worse. Same with brush painting. I'm not sure where you are in the world, but sometimes a humidifier in the studio can be a huge help. For example, a friend in the very northern reaches of Sweden finds a real issue with this in winter, as the very cold air is also extremely dry. I never considered this as an issue before, but now understand that it's a real factor. Other than that, I'm afraid that I'm not very familiar with Kimera paint, so it's difficult to comment, as paint is really the main factory in tip dry. I just don't have experience with it. Try using more water in the your thinning rather than the thinner itself might be an idea. Pressure, if you're set to around 25psi, then you're going to get great performance from that head. I hope my thoughts have been helpful - but I'm afraid I don't have direct experience of the Kimera colours through the airbrush, so I'll prefer not to try to give you advice considering my lack of knowledge of them. Perhaps another could comment on them with experience?
I am finally getting a good airbrush and i decided on the ultra here. Is there any specific hoses you had in mind when creating this airbrush? I will also be getting a new compressor
Any way to backflow mix this with those openings that are meant for cleaning? Very new to airbrush and looking to upgrade a cheap Amazon one that I’ve gotten used to back flowing for both cleaning and mixing. I get I can clean without it, but would love to still be able to mix. Love everything else about this as I struggle to keep constant so limit my use so far for just priming. Looking forward to doing more airbrushing.
Hey Andrew... honestly, it's not the easiest to back flow mix, but the trade off is worth it for the purpose of those openings. What you lose in workflow from the back flow, you gain all of it back plus a lot more with the other benefits. HOWEVER, you're totally right, that a combination would be nice, where you have all the benefits. We've had a concept for this for a while, and there is fine-tuning that needs to be done, and this will be available as an accessory for the ULTRA 2024 soon. I think you've got two choices - if you're already using a double action trigger well and are comfortable with that, do consider the new EVOLUTION 2024. If not and you need more support, then take the ULTRA 2024, and don't worry - we will take care of your desire for easy back flow mixing very soon - within the next couple of months at the most. In the meantime, just cover the front of the airbrush with a slightly damp cloth, and squeeze it a bit onto the head. It will back flow fine in this way for now :-) Hope that helps!
How do you backflush the new ultra (and evolution for that matter)? The cap from the maintenance kit no longer fits and the new air channels make another cap design also quite hard to make
I am a handicap individual. It is hard enough to hold an airbrush let alone work a double trigger and control how far you pull back the trigger. I ordered one the moment I saw this video. I believe it will change my ability to airbrush. Thank you
Hey buddy - please let me know how you get on. I'm on wjs@harder-airbrush.de I would really appreciate feedback from you on this point. If it doesn't work for you, then we can always look at making some special parts for you to help you enjoy your airbrushing as much as possible!
@@harderairbrush not sure how to reply to the address you gave. I have bought mine through spray gunner. They say it should ship November 30. I would be glad to send some feedback. Thanks
I'm new to airbrushing. A tip for any other newbies to this gun (perhaps more in the range etc) I just about 40 minutes trying to figure out why I was getting a blockage when everything looked clean and this was it's second use. It would fire water out with no needle in it. But when I put the needle in it stopped. So thought it was a blockage at the front end. Turns out I didn't tighten the needle chuck fully. Maybe to 98% and it just needed that extra little tighten. Ofc always be wary tightening parts but this did need and extra little nudge and everything flowed again. Just something that tripped me up and may save others 40+ mins! Was just about to start writing an email for help!j
Is it possible to get advices about tail control system of Infinity - how to match it with your new trigger control system? May be percents or numbers of the scale?
😮Does this new trigger design solve the problem caused by wrong trigger releasing? I mean the airflow will keep(trigger keep down) until there is no paint releasing(trigger back into origin in horizontal), thus there will be no paint left on the needle tip even if the user happen to make mistake(releasing trigger wrongly).
Exactly that. It solves incorrect trigger movement in the rearward stroke, and the forward stroke. Air will always release last, even if you just release it. However, we would prefer that you listen to what your new Ultra is trying to teach you, and don't just release the trigger, but behave yourself and guide it forwards before releasing it :-)
I will definitely buy this new Ultra airbrush very soon, probably direct from your site cause I am sure I will not find this product so early here in Greece
@@harderairbrush for obvious reasons, I would rather just learn to use the one I have right now. It looks beautiful... I just need help getting started
Engineering practicality in operation top job. Now you just need a great marketing strategy and perfect execution to dominate the airbrush world. I hope you succeed.
@harderairbrush I was thinking product packaging and a website revamp its not very mobile friendly. A start here beginner page would be helpful and you can reference your video series you have put all this effort into.
Great question. The standard Ultra has triple chrome plate (which is technically copper, nickel, chrome) whilst the Squidmar has the same, but is followed by a special treatment to darken the chrome. They are the same, but are different colours. With regard to the engraving on the Squidmar, we are careful with the depth of our engraving not to compromise the longevity of the overall finish. Either will last you very very well. They are both essential CRplus specification.
Literally just ordered one right now, ive always been a fan of the HS products, theyre just not the easiest to acquire, but im hoping to solve that problem, exp at my shop. Since im doing a refresh of my hardware, whats compressor would you recommend for this particular airbrush? (Mayhaps one with room for growth?)
We recommend the Sparmax TC610HPlus as a great compressor which fits the needs that you describe. Anything of that power and format works really well i.e. moisture filter, pressure regulator and smooth airflow. The tank is not necessary, but it's useful if you foresee using the airbrush for very long periods of time. Then it's relevant - otherwise, not, imho :-)
Will be ordering one just out of curiosity and the price point. I do enjoy my H&S’s! I feel like you guys are by far and away the most consumer centric airbrush company out there, you actually respond and listen which is fantastic. The ability to both interact and produce quick changes to products based on consumer feedback is amazing. Well done guys. I am curious though, the delay in trigger response is a real thing with H&S’s IMO. Do these new versions have a revised trigger system? Thanks!
Hey there - thanks SO much for this comment. We really are trying to make sure that we're really in contact with what our users like and need. For me personally, one of the major goals with this airbrush was to improve the trigger response. It's been quite a complex development to perfect, but we did solve the riddle. I would say that our triggers now have zero slack or delay. We will make a video about what we did technically to improve this, soon. Thanks for raising it! PS See if you can figure our all the points that we've changed to perfect this when you get yours - and send me an email on wjs@harder-airbrush.de with all the points that you think we've changed to deal with this. If you get them all correct, I'll send you something cool :-)
@@harderairbrushcan I get in on this too? lol. Hope this makes for an interesting story, my wife (13years), son, and I were in Germany this past July. We were visiting her family in Rothenburg. She asked what I wanted to do while there. I told her two things…go to the Harder and Steenbeck factory/store and eat Doner Kebabs. I only got to eat Doners. The cost of hotel, train, and rental car was just too much for the trip up to Hamburg area. We had already spent over four grand in flights. We plan to fly into Hamburg next time, just so I can make the trip. Then take the train to Wurzburg. I missed out this time. Sigh. 😔
Of course. As I always say, if you've got the time to visit us, we've got the time to show you around. Just let us know so that I can be sure to meet you there :-)
Is the standard version of the new Ultra already available or still in pre order? I ordered mine a week ago and still got no shipping information... I thought only the Squidmar edition is made by order?
Hi Bernie - we are really fortunate in that the numbers ordered are pretty immense. Thanks all for such incredible support! However, I am certain that shipping catches up on the regular ULTRA around Thursday this week, and then we are shipping to order. So give us another week until you receive it, I think! Sorry for the delay - I know you're keen to get it!
Finally got it today and so far I'm happy overall, but I noticed a leakage in the front end of the airbrush. When I clean the needle tip with a wet brush I get small bubbles...I tried to disassemble and reassemble but it's still leaking...since I'm not a airbrush beginner, I'm pretty sure I reassembled it correctly. My guess is, that the ptfe seal does not seal correctly. Any suggestions?
@@harderairbrush just tried it again. It seems like, that the trigger does not close properly after pressing it down. When I pull it up gently, it's better but still not properly closed...
Hi, I've recently bought an Ultra 2024. It's awesome looking. My Ultra 2024 leaks some air from the head. Is this normal? Please, keep in mind that I'm new to airbrush, no prior experience whatsoever, hence the beginners airbrush. Thank you.
Does this have the same trigger as the old Ultra. I feel the old trigger really let this airbrush down as it lacks grip/texture allowing for finer movements. I’ve been using mine for a couple of years and the trigger has never felt right. I’d consider upgrading if they have improved the trigger design.
Hi, been loving this airbrush and am looking to try a smaller needle. Is it the 126723 or the 123703 needle and nozzle set that is compatible with this brush?
I'm really excited about picking one of these up eventually. If I mainly paint with acrylics, what sort of safety measures do I need to take then? It doesn't look like your painting in a spray booth or the like, and not wearing a respiratormask either?
Generally if you control the spray out when cleaning, you'll be capturing 90% of the overspray. You'll see that little pot we use - that's the key really.
Hey Noel - thanks for joining us! Be sure to scan the QR code on the test card that will come with your airbrush - it will take you to the video instructions for getting started out! All the best, W.
Im not a beginner, but i do have shaky arthritic hands, having that collar for setting trigger travel will be really handy. Does it have solvent resistant seals?
All the H&S headsets are compatible with the new ULTRA, so yes, go ahead and order the 0.2mm set-up - I would recommend taking the FineLine CRPlus 0.2mm for it if you want to put a detail head on there. BUT first of all do explore the performance of the 0.45mm supplied - it's pretty amazing :-)
I assume this is a question regarding importation... It's currently available on www.harder-airbrush.net - if you go there you will note that no German VAT is charged to UK customers. Your VAT will be charged at point of entry with the carrier, and you'll only pay UK VAT. So there's no concern of paying a double VAT. Hope that eases any concerns!
Hey bud - please check my previous reply - we'd like to help you out :-)
Trigger style AB would be good for you
@scottyboy6269 I had used previous trigger styles from another well known company and it worked well for simple "blasting" of models; I could have simply purchased one for priming but that particular model there wasn't really any "techniques" I could preform minus all over coats, I ordered the ultra and hope it'll help me out in gradually building up endurance from priming, base coating, glazing and getting my hand use to working in a more precise way to be able to work with finesse; nothing insane I'm not trying to make competitive models or statues.
This airbrush looks incredible. Will definitely recommend this one to people looking to get into airbrushing.
Ah that's a superb choice for that! Although the Evolution 2024 would also make a great addition to that quiver!
Just wanted to comment after having the Ultra for about 6 months. It just works and I'm still loving it! These videos have 100% made a difference!
Ah that’s great to hear - thank you for taking the time to comment! W
I got my H&S Ultra 2024 this past week and I am so happy with this airbrush. You can tell that H&S really thought out everything with this airbrush.
Hey Patrick - we are really proud of how this airbrush is working out for beginners - thanks very much for your comment and for joining us. W
I love the trigger that won't pull back without being down. That is going to help teach new airbrush artists the right way.
Thanks Steven! We want to make that first hour FUN!
Freaking nice!!! I loved the new features and upgrades!!!
Thanks so much!
I just got into airbrushing miniatures and after watching this, I am ordering it now. Thanks for the video.
Awesome buddy - thanks so much!
I ordered it yesterday directly from the factory, and can’t wait! Thanks for making what looks like a great product.

Warrick just seems like a genuinely great dude :D Being slightly past beginner level...I still enjoy these videos haha
It's true - Warrick is a great dude. Best regards, Warrick 😇😂 Really glad that you enjoy the videos! Any suggestions?

Just ordered an Ultra 2024 with the Sparmax Pro compressor. A little cheaper than I was expecting & can't wait to get started once it's delivered. I had a look at several, but these videos made it easy to decide on the Ultra. Fantastic work from Warrick & the team. Thank you.

OHHHH I lke the way you present the product , it's clear precise. Everything you say was butter I order 2 days ago well done mate. And Iam myself a beginner and I am convice that with your advice I will have a very good painting journey. So thank you for your good work!
Thank you for joining us!!!
good video, i'll get one of these in the new year
Thanks for joining us!
@@harderairbrush Maybe I'll pick one up to give it a try. You can never have enough airbrushes.
Word.
DO you have any news about the Ultra 2024 upgrade kits, like nozzle?
Very soon!
Exactly what I've been looking for to get me through the early stages of learning to use an airbrush. Just ordered the Squidmar version, can't wait for it to arrive!
Ah brilliant - thank you so much!
I just bought this piece of kit. Cant wait to try it out in action. :D
Awesome - thanks!
Fantastic design innovations....will be ordering one soon!
Thank you Steve!
I can definitely tell that it's "teaching" me correct technique 😅
The only issue I have is that the cup doesn't seal properly and a bit of paint leaks out of the cup onto the body of the airbrush.
Mine is being delivered today and I so excited!
Whooo hooo!!!!! Us too!
So excited for this airbrush! Just ordered mine. I already have an infinity but just love this!
Awesome thank you!
Very cool, wish this existed when I started. Also dude's presentation skills are on point. I'm jealous, lol
Thanks buddy - I also wish it existed when I started. So we made it :-)
A wonderful set of innovations, inclusive, instead of exclusive, H&S keep moving forward and listening to customers and dealers, I wish I'd had an AB like this in the 1970s.✌️👍💜😊 I enjoy my three H&S brushes very much.
Thanks man! You're very good to us!
Where are you based buddy?
I wish I had this when I started out! These are really good ideas for a starter airbrush and I can attest to the ease of use for removing and reinserting the needle, since the Giraldez has this feature too. I'm really intrigued by the new collar, gotta see this taken apart to see how you've done it 😂
Congrats on the evolution of the airbrush design...
Ah thanks so much! We're doing our best :-) and we really enjoy what we do!
Cant wait. I just ordered mine and just waiting patiently to get it. Im a noob so this will be a learning experience.
Thanks very much for joining us buddy!
Hey buddy - awesome - thanks so much! Hope you find one soon! W
Well, my turn to comment on your video it seems. 😀 Wow, love it! Now where can I get one to review on my channel….I can’t seem to find it 😭
Ah thanks so much man! I was talking about you the other day, and I hope you don't mind, but I couldn't remember the channel name, so I referred to you as "the Wet Sock Guy" - such an awesome hack!!!
Thanks Danny! Yes, you can just unscrew the quick release, and then you'll have the pretty much universal 1/8 hose fittings there.
OK, sold. Just bought the ultra 2024. As a newcomer to airbrushing, I'm hoping this will help me progress.
Thanks for joining us!
Is lubrication of the trigger assembly necessary to get a nice smooth action? If so what should we be using on those parts?

Really happy to see this. And a squidmar version as well!

So:
1) I understood how many mistakes I was doing with the old Ultra (and I'll try to fix them) and
2) i decided to buy the new one :)
As said, I'm a scale modeler so I need to paint very small details and I'm wondering if I need a 2mm needle and nozzle, considering that the Ultra 2024 has a 0,45mm...
Thanks for supporting us - we hope that our products are supporting your creativity just as well :-)
Did i miss something, what size is the needle nozzle out the box? About to hit purchase but need to know first.
It's our new 0.45mm set-up :-)
Beginner here, this looks wonderful!
I wonder if the collar and the trigger can be retrofit on an existing Ultra. I would love to upgrade my airbrush with these.
@@harderairbrush Thanks. I‘m really tempted to switch my old Ultra against one of these new ones. Maybe then I‘ll learn how to airbrush properly 🙂
congrats, amazing job
Thank you so much 😀
Fantastic! 👏👍
Thanks so much!
Can you upgrade the previous Ultra with the smart selector ?
Are these going to be showing up in the U.S. soon?
We are already shipping to the US from our webstore. However, I am sure that dealers will have them in November.
Thank you very much for sharing that Richard :-)
This looks awesome 👍
Thanks so much!
I've preordered the squidmar version. Cannot wait to try it out. Definitely looks a like an upgrade on my current sparmax one!
Thanks for joining us buddy!
The new H&S Ultra is on my Christmas list. I would love to review the new model if you are interested.
Thanks John! always interested to hear people's views!
Are the seals Teflon please?
Hi Colin - the needle bearing and the nozzle seal are both PTFE; the seal between the airvalve and the body is a special proprietary PTFE material; the o-ring around the aircap is high-grade VITON for excellent solvent resistance.
I own an infinity. When i use the pronged needle protector i nonetheless hit the needle on things and bend the tip. Will this new one fit the Infinty?
All H&S heads are compatible with all H&S airbrushes - so yes ;-)
Really tempted to try this out. Great price point as at the moment I am using an amazing £15 special!
We'd be glad to have you join us buddy :-)
what size hose will i need for this brush ?
Hi there - you'll need 1/8bsp - this has really become the standard for airbrush hoses.
Ordered mine for my first ever airbrush! How long will these take to ship? And is the “Fengda Airbrush Mini Compressor FD-186” a good compressor to start with?
Thanks
Hey Lloyd - shipping starts next week! And yes, that's a great choice of compressor! Set it to 25psi static and enjoy!
@@harderairbrush that’s great thank you! Will order the compressor now!
Just received mine! Looking forward to being able to tackle more mini painting with this tool. Question, if there a recommend PSI for the compressor for optimal use of the Ultra?
Whoop! Yes, I'd suggest starting out at 25psi. and then, try things. 15-25 is a great working range.
I saw this and the new squidmar limited ultra 2024. Is the only difference between this and the squidmar the finish?
Yes - the artwork, and the finishing materials.
I showed this to my friend and he already ordered one, as soon as I get my next paycheck I'm ordering minee

Hi buddy, I have the ultra d 2 in one airbrush .Will the needles from this airbrush fit the new ultra 2024 at all? Cheers, Gary 🇬🇧.
Thanks very much for joining us Gary!
This looks impressive Warwick it bound to be a great starting point for the inexperienced painters.
Thanks Steven! Our beta testing certainly seems to support that. We're so excited to see it help people enjoy airbrushing more easily.
@@harderairbrush that’s amazing. I’ll be looking for it 👍
I finally got around to using my Ultra 2024 and have a question.
Any hose with the standard 1/8bsp airbrush termination will fit just great. Thanks for joining us!
The cap from the maintenance kit no longer fits and the new air channels make another cap design also quite hard to make
So when would be on sale? I just want to buy the CR Plus, and suddenly saw this video.
They are on sale now in the link in the description :-)
@@harderairbrush ok I will check it now.

I'm new to airbrushing. A tip for any other newbies to this gun (perhaps more in the range etc)
I just about 40 minutes trying to figure out why I was getting a blockage when everything looked clean and this was it's second use.
Thanks Colin. Glad you figured it out! W
Is it possible to get advices about tail control system of Infinity - how to match it with your new trigger control system? May be percents or numbers of the scale?
We are working on that :-)
I put my order in today for the Squidmar version 😄
I predict a happy painter :-) thank you!
Ordered mine last week. When can I expect to see it ship? Can’t wait. lol.
They have been shipping for some time now :-) hopefully you have yours if not already, then very soon.
No, not yet. The DHL Website shows it’s been in the Letter Center for the past week. Before that, it was label created. 😩
However, we would prefer that you listen to what your new Ultra is trying to teach you, and don't just release the trigger, but behave yourself and guide it forwards before releasing it :-)
This is so so so smart.
Thank you! Glad you like it :-)
I will definitely buy this new Ultra airbrush very soon, probably direct from your site cause I am sure I will not find this product so early here in Greece
Hmm quite tempting to hand deliver it myself, with the weather that we have in Germany right now! Thanks for considering purchasing our airbrush!
Well weather is still good in here with a temp. around 26c-28c these days but not for long. It has to be a fast delivery lol. Thanks@@harderairbrush
By the way Just bought it lol@@harderairbrush
My first impression for this new ultra is perfection, i can only come with this word in order to describe it@@harderairbrush
Ah that's fantastic - thank you!
Will you be adding more support for the angel giraldez airbrush?
Lots more coming :)
@@harderairbrush for obvious reasons, I would rather just learn to use the one I have right now. It looks beautiful... I just need help getting started
When will these be shipping? ordered mine on the 2nd and still hasn't shipped
Hey BlackDog! Shipping starts Wednesday this week :-) and it will be fast after that. The Squidmars start shipping in November.
@@harderairbrush thanks
Engineering practicality in operation top job. Now you just need a great marketing strategy and perfect execution to dominate the airbrush world.
I hope you succeed.
Thanks so much Andrew. Our marketing strategy is to tell people what we do and how we do it and hope that they like what we're doing :-)
@harderairbrush I was thinking product packaging and a website revamp its not very mobile friendly. A start here beginner page would be helpful and you can reference your video series you have put all this effort into.
thanks for your thoughts Andrew! I'm on wjs@harder-airbrush.de if you'd like to be in touch! @@And-c7n
Which version has the more enduring finish between the Squidmar and standard Ultra 2024 (with triple chrome plating)?
Great question. The standard Ultra has triple chrome plate (which is technically copper, nickel, chrome) whilst the Squidmar has the same, but is followed by a special treatment to darken the chrome. They are the same, but are different colours. With regard to the engraving on the Squidmar, we are careful with the depth of our engraving not to compromise the longevity of the overall finish. Either will last you very very well. They are both essential CRplus specification.
@@harderairbrush Oh, that is great to know. I will be ordering one for my son (and I). Adding to our H&S collection. Thank you so much.
Ah man that warms our hearts! Parents and kids painting together - awesome :-) thank you for choosing to purchase our products!
Any idea when this will be available and what the price may be? I would *love* to get this when it's released.
Hey buddy! Available for some time now :-) www.harder-airbrush.net
@@harderairbrush amazing, what a great response, I very much appreciate it, thank you! Haha you’re on 😉 I’m thoroughly looking forward to it.
Just let us know so that I can be sure to meet you there :-)
Just got my Squidmar 2024 Ultra Airbrush. Always used Badger but these are leaps and jumps ahead in quality ;)
Thanks buddy! Thanks for joining us!
@@harderairbrush thanks for the fast reply and clarification. I can't wait to hold it in my hands :)
Thanks Bernie! Let us know how you get on with it.
How you lube the needle and other parts?
We like Iwata SuperLube - just a little little amount 👍🏻
What compressor would you recommend for this airbrush? Thank you (:
Hi,
I've recently bought an Ultra 2024.
Totally new trigger design, and you're totally right - this aspect needed improvement - it was the very first item on our wish list for the new model.
@@harderairbrush thanks 👍
Hi, been loving this airbrush and am looking to try a smaller needle. Is it the 126723 or the 123703 needle and nozzle set that is compatible with this brush?
Hey buddy - by the time you read this, all our new videos with this information will have uploaded to the channel! W
I just ordered my ultra. I'm a beginner, so I hope this will help improve my skills.
Yes Sir it absolutely does. I hope it gives you many hours of painting 🙏🏻😊
@@harderairbrush I am hoping to find one next year, seems only one store in Australia has them listed, but are out of stock.
We have a LOT coming to Aus in the new year! Very large order already placed.
Hey Guys, any idea when these will start being shipping? Very excited to get mine :) thanks!
Shipping starts next week!
Amazing, that’s for the reply!
Hi, i have one question: Is a compatible 0.2mm nozzle set available for the new squidmar edition of the ultra?
All the H&S headsets are compatible with the new ULTRA, so yes, go ahead and order the 0.2mm set-up - I would recommend taking the FineLine CRPlus 0.2mm for it if you want to put a detail head on there. BUT first of all do explore the performance of the 0.45mm supplied - it's pretty amazing :-)
Great, thank you for the immediate answer!
Is it sold by UK stockists?
I assume this is a question regarding importation... It's currently available on www.harder-airbrush.net - if you go there you will note that no German VAT is charged to UK customers. Your VAT will be charged at point of entry with the carrier, and you'll only pay UK VAT. So there's no concern of paying a double VAT. Hope that eases any concerns!
